Thanks for info.! are you serious when your talking about buses to Guatemala? i hope not, i have contributed so much to the playas economy in 6 months its insane, by spending shitloads and using products/services - its kinda in their interest to maybe not f me, if they wanna keep earning from foreigners and not go down the "stupid thai way" imo.

Meh, it was alright, as you said overpriced (cant get a normal steak, **** service) and full of "ig influencers", still better then cucked EU for that duration

i think its very rare, im in puerto esondido - west coast, and heard that when people went by bus to oaxaca, sometimes police checks the visas and they deported someone to guatemala

I'd guess you'd have to run enormously bad to be deported to Guatemala as a gringo but if you think immigration officers value your contributions to the local economy just forget about it. If you're lucky they value your potential future contribution to their very own economy if they catch you but it might also just be that they have not reported enough cases within whatever time period and are happy for every catch

im here with my girlfriend, mobile internet is a nice back up, i suggest telcel, it has the best coverage.

and regarding the internet, people are complaining that is not stable and slow but i think it depends a lot on a location where you live, i live in rinconada/bacocho area for 3 months and it has been down or very slow maybe 4-5 days. there is a tower in centro so if u are far away from that for example zicatela or la punta area, then the internet is worse i guess

my recommendation is definitely to come to puerto - its a paradise, internet is ok
feel free to get in touch with me if u want i can answer u some questions

actually it depends who you are, if u like mainstream more expensive parties with a nice dressed people playa and tulum are great places for you if u want to party a lot

i heard that in san cristobal is a large psytrance community, so if u r more like a hippie person thats the place for you

and puerto escondido theres a mixs of people but i would say its more on the hippie hipster side and also a lot of digital nomads

I'm kind of mix, but for sure not really into the expensive/well dressed parties. Way more into youngester vibes, such as small parties, hostel parties and ofc some techno/house music parties.

I was just checking some airbnb in bacocho. Any recomendations regarding airbnb? Should I reserve a monthly stay from the beginning or are there better alternatives?

Just got my temporary residency, going to spend the first six months or so visiting a few different places before deciding where to end up.

Currently on the list:
Guadalajara where I plan to do a two months of Spanish immersion to brush up on my Spanish.
Pdc
Merida
El df
Queetaro
Hutalico
A week in Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido but I don't think I'll end up in either.
Maybe aguascaliente, guanauato
Anywhere else I should seriously consider? 40s live poker isn't a priority but something I may do some of it's nearby. Mostly want decent internet, walkable city, good food scene. Beaches are nice but not 100% must have if I can get to them reasonably when I want to.

Guanajuato City is probably my favorite smaller city in the country.

Puebla's a pretty great larger city, I liked Morelia too.

I think I reviewed a decent amount of cities in my thread, so you might check that out.

Aguascalientes is ok, but a slightly worse version of the above cities.

If you're gonna be in Oaxaca, then it makes sense to do Chiapas as well and San Cristobal is usually a favorite of most travelers, although I've not personally visited.

Pretty much all will have great food and walkability. Internet is usually solid although around the coast of Oaxaca it can be spotty and unreliable.

Thanks, appreciate it. I'll skip augas then and add Puebla, Morelia and Chiapas if I do Oaxaca. Expat forums seem to have robberies sounding super high in Oaxaca city right now so I'm close to skipping it for the time being.

show em some money, they give you 1 year temp res. in a year you renew it for 3 more years. after 4 years you are a permanent resident.
exact specifications don't apply in mexico, as every single embassy will differ slightly, but show them 50k, 100k, 200k in the bank and don't be a weirdo and should get approved after a 30 second chat at the embassy. If you have no idea where to start then get a lawyer to do things for you. seems very worthwhile, and possibly necessary going forward for long term stays in the country. yuca/quintana both have programs in place right now that can make the process much easier if you've been in the country prior to covid, you can get a pretty expedited residency status via some lawyers

Yeah if you have a pension or job paying at least around ~2500/month you should be able to get it too. I went off bank statements for six months. As boliver says it's different for every consulate even if there are published details that are supposed to apply universally. With enough $ and proof you are retired you can also get straight up permanent without going through temporary. I still have a tech job so they wouldn't let me do permanent at the one I went to. I've heard you can apply after one year instead of renewing for your last three depending on the office if you qualify for permanent. Requirements for income or savings are generally lower in country than out, however, normally you can't do the originally application within Mexico. During the pandemic there have been some ways with expired FMMs due to covid.

Lots of info on Facebook or YouTube if you are interested. Process for me was email,.they told me to send some info like statements, they scheduled a zoom to prequalify me,.went in with passport and a passport photo.and ~50 fee and had the visa that week. Now I have six months to go start the process Mexico to turn the visa into a 1 year residence card and can renew it in Mexico without visa runs.
