Is summer a bad time to move to PDC? Would think rental prices would shoot way up and there'd be scarcity, but maybe not?

How easy is it to get a bank account there?

It's low season until November/1st of December. Prices should be down currently. Bank accounts should be easy. Mine was, but it has been a while, so YMMV.

Moved to Playa last week and loving it here so far, if anyone wants to hang out/chat about poker (atm I am SSPLO grinder) then hmu, whatsapp +447781444809, skype jonathan.spicer

Also if anyone is thinking about moving here and has questions shoot me a message too, I am still pretty new here but will do my best to answer anyway.

Currently using Nest coworking space on 10th Ave to play, would recommend it if anyone is interested in that kinda thing, $250 usd/month for fairly nice office including standing desks, AC, free coffee/cereal/biscuits, good internet, probably some more benefits I can't think of. At least me and two other poker guys there atm.

I'm not entirely sure if it's officially open on Sundays, but once you have access, you can get in on a Sunday, however for the last few Sundays I have been the only one here (:

Airbnb didn't look too expensive to me for one month - decent discounts going if you do a full month.

Btw how is the crime scene in Playa? Has the atmosphere around there been affected in any way? Just concerned that the murder rate is up quite a bit this year :P

Pre-earthquake, I'd say the La Condesa neighborhood (and some around it) are very nice/liveable/grindable places. You do probably need some Spanish, or at least be comfortable making your way around in a place where there's not a whole lot of English. Was very walkable, Uber was great to get around, etc.

Don't know what shape everything is in this far out post-disaster.

How's your Spanish? You're going to need at least above-average Spanish for living in most parts of DF.

Then I wouldn't recommend DF. It's a decent place and I've enjoyed my time there but it's really impossible without functional Spanish.

any recommendations for a place to run? other than the beach

any facebook groups / expat forums that have english speaking people posting rentals?

Not much fun finding an apartment here, especially while not speaking spanish. My best options are coming from facebook groups, not through air bnb. It seems like an easy way to get scammed tho...Has scamming been a problem here?

I suppose if they can show me the unit, have a full facebook profile, appear to be an agent would reduce the risk. anything else I should look out for?

Use FB to find a translator to walk the streets with you and find a place. That cost is negligible compared to being ripped off

Would agree with above, if you get an airbnb with an english speaking host they might help you too. If you check out http://www.andale.mx and https://www.vivanuncios.com.mx/ you might be able to find emails or numbers you can whatsapp and use google translate.

For running I see a lot of people running along the bike path on 10th but that might be busy depending on what time you go.

Looping around Playacar is what I did and probably your best play. Nice neighborhood, kind of green, limited traffic.

Pro tip: Always check Strava's global heatmap to look for running spots in unfamiliar territory:
