so, last night went to Verlaine @ 110 Rivington between Essex & Ludlow. Good bar, but great cosmopolitan and international crowd, and yuengling beer was $3 ...but the best part was the crowd and the 'talent'...definitely worth checking out

Great food website, I disagree with some things on there (steak section) but overall really informative.

Poker games?

Tons of poker in NYC. The games run a bit deeper. You should have no problem finding 1/2 2/5 or 5/10. There are higher limits and private games as well.

Another noteworthy bar - Breslin... 29th street between 5th and 6th ... Good new spot from the people who brought us The Spotted Pig ... This is a bigger an less crowded version in Midtown.

The biggest, nastiest **** show in the city is the 4AM path back to Hoboken mid July.

Downtown or midtown.

There are lots of sports bars, but hockey is usually trumped by baseball or basketball or something stupid.

Also, I don't suppose there are any good Canadian bars (or bars with a good contingent of Canadians) that people know of? During the Olympics I might want to hang out with some fellow Canucks.

Down on 3rd ave and 11th there's a bar caller Pour House. They have like a million tv's, I'm sure you can get them to put on anything you want. I've been there for 2 UFC events, it was defiantly better than average

NY Times just had a great article about W Hotel in Hoboken and how convenient it is to Manhattan. it's a few blocks away from the Path Train station in Hoboken, a great hotel as you would expect, and $150/night less than comparable places in Manhattan. I think the address is: 225 River Street, Hoboken, N.J.

for upscale steak house dining, the best choice is probably Dylan Prime. They also have a very nice lounge next door called Dylan.

A newcomer on the scene is Wolfgang's in TriBeca, and no, this is NOT Wolfgang Puck's place. It was started by some former Peter Lugar people, and the food is really awesome.
I prefer the Wolfgang's on Park Ave

Pour House is always a great time... over 100 different beers on tap/bottled, sports on 24/7, the women that come through are money and the bartenders are all cool

I'm looking to move to NYC in the fall - or possibly in a month - and the girlfriend and I are looking at place.

This one looks suspiciously good: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/nfb/1747265093.html

So what's wrong with it?

^^^ it's either a small studio that's incorrectly listed as a 1br or not available would be my guess

edit: or this is not the actual location of the apt but the location of the broker. something like that..

I'm going to NYC June 16 - 18th & trying to find a decent, reasonably priced place to stay.

Found a link to this address on craigslist--based upon the price, this has got to be a scam:

hey guys I'm planning a trip to Queens to visit a friend at the end of august. I was wondering if anyone familiar with the area knows of areas with a decent amount of bars/restaurants/chicks? Is this in a certain area? I wanna book my hotel near that area.

Thanks.
