Has anyone applied to extend their tourist visa for another six months? My first six are up in October, and I'm still waiting to hear back about the extension. I'm trying to figure out what my chances are, cause I need to either find a new apartment here or get a plan for moving elsewhere.

What are the rules on restarting the clock? It is pretty unclear but I was under the impression that if you left and came back you'd be fine.

Also, if you just stay the odds that anyone will come looking for you are close to 0.

Yeah I would just stay, but I'm planning a Vegas trip and going home for Christmas so that would fk me. I haven't seen anything confirming whether you can hop the border and come right back - on the official immigration website there's no mention of that, only the official six month extension you can apply for. And every time I've crossed they just ask the *first* time I came to Canada this year, which makes me think that's all that matters.

Anyways I found a place September through March and the landlord is cool - I gave her heads up I might have to bail after October and she said no problem.

Pretty sure the rule is "six months out of any twelve month period", so hopping the border and coming right back won't restart the clock.

Anyone have any good recommendations for hotels with good wifi on Cresent street? First time I went up, I stayed at the quality inn and the wifi was intolerable.

IMO, sports station is the best sports bar closely followed by Champs.

Any UFC / MMA fans here???

Hey guys. I checked online for studio rentals in montreal and i see some places that cost around $600-$700 for a furnished studio with everything included. Its around the plateau area. The thing was i read if the rent is very cheap, then there is a good chance that it is a scam such as if a person advertises a downtown apartment with 1 bedroom in vancouver for $700. But i know montreal is cheaper than vancouver and toronto. Are price ranges around 600-700 for a furnished studio in the plateau area in montreal, is that reasonable or should i not look at it at all b/c it might be a scam?

I went thru this guy to get setup. He is very trustworthy and made and made the move easy. Paying $700/month.
