Some others might be able to provide better info re: live poker than me, but I had a couple live players that came from Toronto to play living with me the first 2 weeks I was here (now have a 5 bedroom apt all to myself..ship it)..based on what they said:
Games are ridiculously easy, but rake is really high. People making plays that you would've expected to see 3-4 years ago, can't believe people are still playing that bad. Other than Casino de Montreal, there's Playground Poker Club ~15-20 minutes away from downtown. Playground has 2-5, 5-5, and 5-10 nlhe running as well as a roped off section with a higher game that runs sometimes?
I checked out their website (
http://www.playgroundpoker.ca/) to see if they had any MTTs worth playing while I wait to get going online, and it's mostly just smaller stake tournaments (although now that I just looked, they have a $500 tournament July 30 so maybe they have larger ones sometimes).
The guys that were staying here also went back home after like 3 weeks though, so who knows if their assessments of the games available were accurate.
