only 2 sites i know of that have fairly normal pricing. 1st is newspaper classifieds. I found my first aparment here through that, and was 1.3m for 2 bedroom penthouse (not super nice) by suramericana. Don't even try if you aren't fluent imo.
2nd is just locals looking for roommates and deals can be found. I highly recommend.
facebook has many groups but mostly shared ex-pat housing or people just cross posting from airbnb.
everyone talks about this gringo price, etc etc.... Colombian law requires one or two people who own property in medellin to put it up for collateral for any apartment you rent, at least legally. Also places are rented 1 year minimum. Security deposits are technically illegal in Colombia, but all gringo-catering realtors use this + gringo tax to offset whatever risk they see in going around the standard system.
Sure there are ways around this and sometimes you can deal directly with owners, but renting short term furnished housing with no fiador is a giant hurdle to overcome before you start getting local pricing.
I'm sure Barry could chime in, lol... but fact is its extremely difficult for extranjeros to get local pricing anywhere in Colombia. It was way more difficult when I moved to Pereira for a month, a smaller/cheaper city where every single 'good' price I needed a fiador.
Renting an unfurnished place for a year and paying up-front could also be an option. Not recommended for first timers...just pay the gringo tax as most do.
Jose has a very decent deal listed for anyone that is looking on 2p2 to rent an apartment in Medellin. He'd be justified in charging more imo just for the opportunity for an easy move, payable in stars, internet and grind-ready, and spanish roommate who knows the lay of the land (or at least poblado
)
