Dude you just need to figure out how Airbnb is played. I already told most of the good info. The way a professional airbnb prices things is like I said 12%+ in mind with an optimal occupancy rate of 15-20 days per month. That means you can pretty much get a 40-60% discount per month if you rent 2+ months.

honestly dude, just use airbnb or another renting site and be picky and youll save yourself a lot of time and headache. Yeah you're going to pay a little more regardless but so the **** what? its cheap, you're on vacation and you don't have to worry about a single thing going to the airbnb way imo. in most cases its totally worth the juice if you know how to shop and negotiate.

Also, posting that persons full name and telephone number is a bad move imo.
Yeah good to know bro, thanks for that.. She would be happy by this kind of exposure, it is her job. others might use here service if they feel like it.

Gonna try contacting some airbnb's and see how that goes, thanks again.

What about: people always talking about paying gringo prices, being constantly haggled and overpaying for everything.

Any hints how to minimize that?

yoyo..the single most important thing is to know the language..I have had some contacts with David a great realtor, still low prices imo, he is going to look up some 2 and 3br apartments for me. I'll keep you posted on this..might be some good ones..found also an airbnb 2br apartment for 600 dollars a month fully furnished.. https://www.airbnb.nl/rooms/11667999 ..also a cool guy I think.

And no you are not overpaying for everything..listen to some testimonials on youtube on foreigners living there..pretty good info..just like about David.

Let me know how you are planning this trip Spets! peace

Skype group? Can you add me ... cc.travis

I am now living in Medellin and looking for some local help to get cash onto Stars and other sites. Would love to meet some others playing online here.

I live in the Laureles area. Would be cool to meet some friends here and to get some cash onto my accounts or my Neteller.

I used Claro. It was pretty good but I had trouble using the data that I loaded onto it (probably my own fault/problem). Missed a date with a Venezuelan chick because my data wasn't working. She couldn't contact me and she bailed and went home. So yeah, don't let that happen!

I have a question about salaries and what Colombians make (converted to USD for simplicity).

My research shows that 2016 GDP per capita (PPP) in Colombia was $14,100. Now I undertstand that per capita GDP is not the holy grail, but it does give a sense of what income is like in a country (I understand that different parts of a country can mean big differences in pay, for example San Francisco vs Mobile, Alabama for a similar job title).

Is someone able to give me an overview of the following:

1) Colombian's minimum wage (if one exists).

2) Average yearly salary for a full-time middle school teacher.

3) Average yearly salary for a manager at a retail shop.

4) Average yearly salary for a high level medical doctor, think heart surgeon or similar.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

5k-10k (pesos) with unlimited button straddle. (people often straddle for 50k or 75k) runs sporadically at Rio Casino

Thx for the reply Tony.

So that comes out to $252 a month. If someone works a 40 hour work week, this works out to 173.33 hours per month. So am I correct in saying the minimum wage per hour is ~$1.45?

edit: I see Colombia has one of the most unequal Gini indices in the world.

random input wrt wages...

minimum wage was 550k/mo a few years ago.

2017 it is 737,717 in antioquia. 7% increase from last year. Can google salario minimo

http://www.salariominimo2016.com/cua...2016-colombia/

Roommate spent 3 months looking for a job in finance industry. Tough to secure anything more than 1.5m. Finally got a gig as a uni profesor that paid a little over 2m.

ex-gf got an amazing job working in library for 2.3m, like 1.7 after taxes and benefits/health taken out.

Long time poker player both online and live (MTT and Cash). Heading to Med for the first time to check out the city in a week and consider buying property for future retirement and a cool place to live.

I recently saw that PokerStars shut down in Colombia...wtf...just as I was going to put down roots. Does anyone have any news/thoughts on this?

Is it possible to grind out $3kUS p/mo with the live games?

How are all you guys that came down for PS doing? Are there other sites that you can transition?

Thanks in advance.

Any must see/do on the list in either area. We are open to hiking, exploring/adventure, and beaches. We have terrible to ok spanish.

TIA.

What's goodie fellas? I am visiting Colombia with another pro and we are currently in Bogota. There's nlhe here but the games are really small, with the biggest being $2k/$5k but everybody buys in short so it just plays like a $1/$2 with a lot of $60 stacks.

How big are the Medellin games and how often do they run? In the states we grind $2/$5 so we are looking for as close to that as possible. $5k/$10k would probably work as long as there are some deeper stacks than 30 bb.

Thanks for the input fellas!
