i have done the speed tests and it came back 3ms - Ping, 5.88Mbps - Download and 0.22Mbps - Upload.

any infomation is much appreciated thanks.
Run a constant ping to pokerstars.com - for some reason this helps ensure a more reliable connection

if you think it could be intentional blocking clear your dns cache and renew ip info

and yes that actually is a thing - ip's that access too much "questionable content" will be put on naughty lists and given less priority for bandwidth and sometimes even literally given a timeout - was a huge way of warning people back in the days when google was unblocked - too many questionable search topics and your internet speed would slow down to a crawl for about 15 minutes

Hey guys - new here, and have a question.

I'm pretty frustrated. I was so excited to find out that living in China allows me to play online poker again (I'm an American). Pokerstars confirmed I can play, and I assume that means Full Tilt as well, since they're officially merged, and sharing their player pools.

Well, I got my Neteller account setup, only to find out that China doesn't have access to that particular deposit method, so I setup an EntroPay account. My deposit was declined, and PS is requesting proof of my residency, which I DON'T HAVE. I've been here 18 months, but have never had a job - my wife lets me do my freelance artwork as a small income. I don't have a landline phone (who does?), health insurance (I did get a full physical late last year), apartment lease/deed (we live in my wife's apartment, which she owned before we met), electric or utility bill, etc etc.

I offered to send them a photo of my visa and passport stamps, but they never actually respond to that part. They just email me what they accept, which I understand - but I don't have that stuff!

Anyway, now I have no idea what to do. I'm studying, and I can watch the micro tables, tagging fish and what not, but that's hardly getting any real practice in. I'm going to try 888 soon.

I also can't play American sites like Bovada, because they said I'm in a country that they don't support. PartyPoker gave me a message that they don't operate in China.

As a last resort, I said I'd paypal my wife some money and she could start an account on Pokerstars for me, but she said "I accept that you play poker, but I can't support it.".

Ugh.

I'm not sure of the legality, but does anyone know if there's someone I could Paypal or transfer money to, who could setup an account for me? I guess that could pose some difficulties and/or trust issues, but it's the only thing I can think of at this point.

Alternatively, does anyone have another idea? Get a landline? Get a job? Ha!

Thanks

Last time I was in China people would put money on by purchasing a transfer on taobao. Not sure if that is still offered and I don't think any of them ever cashed out.

Just write your name on the lease agreement and send it to them.

Do you have a Chinese bank account in your name?

I got refused this when trying for full tilt.

You won't find an easier option than taobao if that's still available.

woah wtf, I was actually hired to review that place by a local expat mag (editor knew me me and knew I was a poker player) when they first opened up and it was sad **** where you bought in with cash but then could only earn points with winning and that stuff could eventually go towards an ipad or something.

Jesus wish I knew about this tourney this morning, will pm you kaiwall we should get a beer tonight.

There was a place in Guangzhou with a similar system. There was also conveniently a super sketchy dude who would "buy" your points for direct cash value minus a fee. What a coincidence!

They somehow managed to make the thing even sketchier by later selling gas cards which you'd then sell to the sketchy guy who would then sell to taxi drivers. Fun times in China.
