So let me get this straight

So they pretended you never gave them a computer, were rude to your wife, you needed 3 trips to the store having to identify the computer itself (which they were possibly trying to steal and sell) and then the guy assaults your wife and you still think you should give him money? Dude, you should never buy used cars.

Don't pay ldo.

Fwiw I took my laptop into a shop in china to get something fixed, very simple should've taken 15 minutes. He says he's too busy to do it then but I could come back tomorrow. I give him the 50rmb or whatever and there's no problems.

That computer never worked the same. Seriously had no idea wtf was wrong with it and eventually I started searching online and apparently a fairly common scam is to replace your laptops high quality parts with ****ty ones. Would never leave my laptop at a place like that again.

I had my harddrive crash and my gf at the time said her friend could fix it. He just replaced my harddrive, so now all my programs are in Chinese.

Definitely not limited to China. Same thing happened to me here in Spain. Had a problem with my laptop video card but they said after replacing the card, the monitor didn't work so they replaced the monitor with a clearly inferior one at my expense.

When I asked to see the original monitor, they said they didn't have it which obviously meant that they already sold it.

I ended up going with my initial thinking of pay nothing more, appreciate the reality check.

Normally I would have been way more aggressive, but in the last few weeks we have had some minor/major business decisions being effected primarily on cultural differences, the whole saving face and pushing blame is starting to wear on me, and this is causing me to question normal situations more.

On a funny side, this morning plastered everywhere on the lift walls is "Please refrain from throwing diapers/food/trash bags from high floor apartments, as management is receiving complaints from low level floors"...

Bob: wow that's disgusting it's like they weren't even trying to hide it.

Jsplit: good move, especially if your wife stands a chance of running into him again which sounds possible. Not worth it. They recently put up a similar sign in my condo, which is almost completely full of chinese who work at the local junkets. .. coincidence???

Oh also the sign is completely in English lol

Today they now have 3 additional signs, broken English translations:

Sign 1: Explaining that you cannot legally have more then 4 people in your apartment living, Examples of upwards of 10+ have been submitted to the Police, please call security if you see many people.
Sign 2: Explanation that you cannot go to the gym/pool without a swimming cap and towel, towels can be rented, management dont like water on level 4
Sign 3: Door code numbers changed due to people sleeping in the stairwells, do not allow access to unauthorized visitors

I find sign 3 hilarious, considering its ridiculously humid here and without air-con sleeping in the stairwells, id give you a 50/50 chance of living and not dieing during the night due to dehydration.

BGP, some of the junket stories i have been told are mind blowing, they literally bolt everything down in the rooms they operate, for fear of the operators stealing everything.

One story that makes me laugh was a Junket operator was kicked out of a very prominent room due to low %. They tell them by sending down security asap, to stop them ripping off everything. Someone let slip this was happening an hour earlier, they proceeded to take all of the wheels from the chairs, so upon entering everything looked Ok, and they were cleared to leave. In essence they stole 100+ wheels for a re-sale of maybe $500HKD.. cheap bastards.

I had no idea hk had those types of problems. They are religious about swimming caps in china and it always made me lol. Also I was kicked out of a pool before because my friends and I were being too loud and people were sleeping... it was 2pm. Guard said that's a common time for chinese to take their naps.

Damn that's crazy. Do you have a lot of experience with the junkets? I know very little about them but there's a ton of chinese tourists here that I imagine drop a ton at them. I'm guessing they steal **** because by the point they are kicked out of the casino they much be broke and desperate as hell.

I went to a big pool that didn't require swimcaps. In Taiwan I had to wear one.

Yeah a ton, but on a public forum there are some rules that I wont break, basically they operate like loan sharks. Some are legit (Payday loan style) some are not (Thugs on the corner) but overall they are an asset to the casino investor considering the volume of play they bring in.

Here is a link on one of their programs:
https://apheat.net/2014/06/18/the-ma...chip-programs/

TLDR: Rolling chip programs are a way of comping the player upfront, allowing for traditional table maximums to be non-existent, allowing for huge bets to be spread at any given time. The way this is regulated is through the junket system, and is allowed as the chips don't have a traditional cash value, so in essence its similar to a sit n go, where at the end you redeem your chips for X value.

A good story of the above is in the US they are regulated by X max bet per table, using this program people can bet whatever they have in their Account. But the down side to this is that they may only withdraw 10-20% of their account face value at any given time. So i have seen guys with 7 fig accounts bet 500k hands, the casino allows this as at worse they are down 10% of the account in question at any given time, whilst holding the remaining (this is the term float money)

My buddy who is completely bald (skin Head basically) got into a major argument here, he lost his argument and in turn we got him a skin colored cap, he proceeded to draw a line in the middle, and pranced around calling them dickheads...

Edit: Forgot the best part, the next week was a sign stating that only specific colored caps are to be worn in the pool area!

Not an easy thing to glance at. I was under the impression that the casinos just rent out the rooms to the junket and had nothing to do with the betting that involves the junket chips.

Awesome that they had the colored caps sign lol.

My friend is bald and also incredibly hairy... we had similar experiences before. Such a ridiculous rule.

Well hotels are expensive there... there are few hostels that might be around 300hkD... but yea very simple and fan only, shared showers etc. Sanva was one such... near senado square... but far from city of dreams(another island)... but they had shuttle bus... City of dreams is at taipa, so you might want to search that area... but dunno if there is anything cheap around there(venetian, galaxy, sands are pretty expensive)

edit. you don't really have to book in advance(unless it is chinese holiday) and most casinos have luggage storage

I wouldn't play poker in any stan country imo. Most likely you'll get rob outside the room if you won anything. My Uzbek friend told me that.

Spas are very economical...especially if you just need a shower/bed. Most spas don't have beds per se, but they do have very relaxing lounge chairs that are easy to fall asleep in. Many spas also offer free drinks/food.

There's always hotel rooms available on Rua de Felicidade...it's a pretty run down area but it's cheap (maybe 400 hkd/night?) and about 10 mins walk to Lisboa/Wynn.

It might be an issue if you are wondering around outside at night. If you have the casino order you a taxi there won't be a problem. Biggest issue is potential collusion due to language barrier.

Where is this guard when someone is lighting off explosions/fireworks right outside my apartment every single Sunday morning between 7:30 and 8?

Hopefully, nobody will be fool enough to think China looks like that video, everything seems so clean... also I'm not sure they asked taiwanese their opinion about being part of mainland, even people within mainland don't consider their selves as one familly. It's funny how north and south still don't like eachother, now they added hong kong to that and they want to bring in Taiwan.
