Hey Guys,

Have a few backpacker friends staying with me in Macau, and they want to head from here to HCMC Vietnam, flights from HK/Macau are somewhat expensive, and it seems to be cheaper to head to Bangkok -> HCMC which seems backwards.

Is there a specific airline/hub/path for Vietnam from HK that's somewhat cheaper?

HK Express airlines fly to Da Nang have found tickets for as low as HKD 1000 return.

Does anyone here have Alipay and Pokerstars and want to make a trade for around 1000RMB or less (I need Stars)? I would post in the transfer thread but I kind of doubt any of those guys are in China (I did a search for Alipay and got zero results). We can obviously post there with SNs for transparency if anyone shows any interest. Thanks and I hope this is kosher to ask in this thread.

There's English spoken in Shanghai. Beijing as well. But it's not as pervasive as in most of Europe.

Everywhere else, either learn some Chinese, find a bilingual friend or become good at making hand signals and facial expressions.

I struggled hard to find places in China as noone speaks english and google maps is blocked. Ask someone to write clear directions for you and/or get a map and circle the place where you wanna go so you can ask people in the street.

I've found the mapapp in wechat very useful. Just have someone send the location to you using the send your location feature and click on it, it will give bus, car or walking direction. Sure, they're in Chinese, but you can usually still figure out which way to walk.
