i'm going to chengdu this saturday for about 11-14 days

Is there anything I should def. hit up while I'm there? Going to somewhere far like HK or Beijing isn't possible for this trip : (

Money isn't an issue but I'm not going to blow 1k in one night on getting a room at a club~

Also, I'm a 22yr korean who can't speak Chinese. Am I fk'd when it comes to girls or is cash always attractive enough to make an effort?

Chinese girls seem to like Korean guys the most outa the other Asians, so i dont think you ll have a probably finding girls. If your looking for one night stands and **** though, then you probably should look into the hooker thing, cause you have to put in a few dates to get anywhere with most Chinese girls.

The Chinese girls like the Koreans because of all the boy bands...

I highly recommend the hookers. Don't just go to the expensive shower house and chuck dough at the tarts. Shop around and you'll get some hot girls fresh out of the countryside for 150-300RMB.

The problem with Pokerstars in China is the update often doesnt work because www.pokerstars.com is blocked.
If you go to 'c:/programfiles/pokerstars/' and run the Pokerstars.exe it will work every time (at least it did for me in Beijing for the last 3 months.)

Anyone know if Full Tilt works on the mainland? Not back there till february so can't check myself.

What Macau hotel has a good sportsbook? Or a nice sportsbar will also do. I want to watch some NFL on sunday/monday. Will be staying at the Waldo from tomorrow, and if anyone wants to grab a beer or something drop me a pm.

I will be in Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year and was wondering what time is their firework show?

Is it on the Chinese New Years Eve at midnight?

Also can anyone recommend anything to do for the Chinese New Year day? I know a lot of things will be closed.

To "UPS" - There are no real sportsbook bars in HK. There is one licensed sports betting operator "MacauSlot" and they have a number of betting outlets (betting shops" in SJM casino properties. The main focus is soccer betting and NBA, I dont think they offer lines on NFL.

As far as watching sport, many bars will show soccer as featured on ESPN or Star Sports. A few bars carry the South African satellite which then also covers rugfby and cricket. ESPN does have a few NFL games early in the morning.

The Starworld Poker room stream a lot of sports directly to their room from the US or the UK. We watched the PAcquaio De La Hoya fight there last week. You can contact Danny or Alex from there.

To "Joe Butch" - the CNY fireworks are usually at 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. and are definitely worth watching. They take place in the harbour and can be viewed from many public viewing points along the harbourfront on both HK island and Kowloon side.

As far as New Years Day, it is very quiet as most people are at home with family though a lot of good restaurants are open as lots of families go out to eat together.

the CNY fireworks are on New years Day? Or New Years Eve?

Would you recommend going to the Man Mo Temple on New Years Day? Or will it be very hectic? People gather around the temple at midnight?

There's a Malaysian Chinese student here who offers Mandarin classes part-time. His native language is Mandarin and he graduated from Shanghai University. Will this be a good learning experience for me (i.e. have a "pure" accent, be able to communicate clearly with mainland Chinese) or should I avoid?

From what the locals in Macau tell me the average Malaysian has a weird accent and poor grammar. This may depend on factors such as what their parents major language was so may not be an issue in your case. Having studied in Shanghai it is possible that this guy is more edumacated and has correct grammar, but I would still tend to pick a Mainlander or Taiwanese if I was going to learn Mandarin.
