peter,

sorry , i didn't mean to disclose u.

i tried to find a way to edit that post and couldnt find the edit button.

it seems that a new post is editable, with an edit button in it, only in a certain timeframe after ur submission.

And then the edit button will disappear.

can anyone pls help me out? or should i call the admin to do that?

Is is possible for me to make 200 HK dollars per hour if i play10/20 games in macau? I'm seriously thinking about playing 20-30 hours each week there while living in guangzhou or zhu hai. My live 1/2NL win rate in my local canadian card room is around $20 per hour in the past two years. Can anybody give me some insight into playing professional live poker in macau?

You won't enjoy spending 20-30 hours a week in Macau if you live in Guang Zhou - it takes around 2 hours on the bus just to get to Zhu Hai each day depending on where you live and you haven't even crossed the border yet.

Zhu Hai is the better option if you will be playing that regularly

Thanks,Quorthon. I just want to spend my weekends there(20-30 hours of intensive work). Is the cost of living cheap in zhu hai? I probably need a multiple entry visa to play poker regularly in macau if i decide to live in zhu hai.

Probably cheaper than in GZ.

A colleague of mine spends RMB2,500 per month for a 100 sq. m. apartment in ZH (border area) with two bedrooms. I doubt it's a luxury apt. but it's decent.

Other costs should be quite reasonable as well. If you are averaging $200 per hour like you expect in the other thread you will be living well. Even if you don't manage that much you will be living well.

Sorry I can't be more detailed but I don't have any experience living in ZH. I am sure someone else will weigh in with more useful data in the next day or two.

If it's too late to edit, the best way to get help is to hit the report post button (exclamation point in red triangle under your name) and in the comment box that comes up ask a mod to edit. I've reported your post and requested the link be removed.

Thx.

cost of living is definetly cheaper in ZH than in GZ. For rent fee, the closer to the border, the higher.

May has a long public holiday known as Golden Week running from May 1 to 9.
This will be a bad and expensive week to move around China, suggest you stay put until late May.

thanks, guys Here's another tough question: Can i really enter macau regularly like at least once or twice each week if lets say i live in zhu hai, mainland china? I'm afraid of being denied entry by the customs of both sides if there are too many stamps in my passport. BTW, i'm currently holding a canadian passport with a one year multi-entry china tourist visa. Whats the best solution in this situation?

No problem, plenty of people live in China long term with a monthly visa run to HK or Macau.
On the Macau side, they don't care how often you come in. You are given a 30 day entry permit at Customs and the only hassle comes if you stay for 30 days then do a visa run to China and come back again (multiple times). They have a lot of over stayers here that they don't like, but they do like people coming in regularly to gamble!

Are there restrictions on foreigners buying RMB in China? Are there restrictions on taking large amounts of it out of the country? Are there any interest barring RMB bank accounts/CDs/Bonds/etc available to foreigners in China?

Is it easy to buy RMB in HK/Macau?

My knowledge on the China side is limited but I do know Chinese citizens are only allowed to take RMB10,000 out of the country. That is why there is a highly evolved system in place to help fund gamblers once they get to Macau, although I won't detail it ITT.

You can certainly buy RMB in China although I don't know what the restrictions are for foreigners, if any. Many ATM's in Macau issue RMB and it won't be a problem to get at banks either. I do know that if you want to exchange your RMB back to foreign currency in China you need a receipt showing how much foreign currency you sold when you entered. In Macau none of that rigmarole is necessary but you should check first if it is a straight exchange or if you need to exchange RMB-> HKD->XXX.
There are virtually no interest bearing bank accounts in Macau or HK as far as I am aware, not sure on the situation in China but I imagine it is similar. That is one of the reasons there is such an active stock market.

For those posting about the issue wrt playing poker in China I made a thread in poker legislation - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57.../#post17753929 - where I've summarised the discussion from this thread. If anyone living in China wants to verify my post that'd be useful. We can then create a sort of 'sticky' post to refer people to if they have queries...

You can see the one issue I'm not clear about is HEM or PT working in China - can anyone shed any light on this?

Anyone playing on Ongame from china? My software shuts down after less than 1 minute and support says that it has to do with my connection, it happens using vpn or not using it so I doubt it. I also tried another skin and it doesn't shut down...
