Hi,

I saw that as a college graduate in the USA, getting a 12 month VISA to New Zealand is VERY easy.

I have ~$20,000 in savings and want to take 12 months to play poker and travel and enjoy life.. that being said.. I don't see any content here on New Zealand.

Anyone have any pros/cons they could throw my way? I've researched other sites, but I'm having problems finding anything to read about how Poker is treated here..

Thanks all.

I had no problems playing on Stars in 2014 but the internet is very expensive for what it is. Things may have changed since then of course. There's a big casino in Auckland so you should be able to play live if that's your thing. I can't comment on the standard of the games.

Gambling income is not taxed so that's a plus, though of course if you are from the US you're still paying, but it simplifies tax time.

Do you like the outdoors and travelling? How old are you? Do you like backpacking, mountain climbing, biking, anything like that? Are you a hostel traveler or hotels and fine dining?

New Zealand is awesome, amazingly beautiful country but not cheap! Every bit as expensive (more?) as USA.

IMHO the rake at casinos is too high to make low level stakes profitable.

Obviously your money will last a lot longer in places like Bali, Thailand, etc..I

Regardless, stop thinking about it and just go!!
