I'm from the US and am interested in moving to malta. I was wondering if anyone had any free space that I could possibly rent out for 2 weeks or so sometime in the next 3 months. I am a online cash game pro and would do some grinding as well as checking out what I have to do to move?

Dumb question.......how do you private message someone on this forum? sorry im a noob

thanks

I was also wondering if US players were able to set up bank accounts and poker accounts on euro sites. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i'm leaving malta on thursday and need to sell a few items

32 inch tv, bought about 6 months ago for 575, will take 300 euros
glass table/stand for tv (can't think of the right word to describe it!) bought for 200 six months ago, will take 50 for it.
office chair, 50 euros (worth 200 new)

also, got a ton of books, movies, boxsets (i'd say about 1k's worth) i was just gonna give to a charity shop here as can't be bothered taking them all home. if anyone buys any of stuff i have for sale they can help themselves. can list them all if need be.

pm me or email me at pcthompson80@hotmail.com for any extra details

i'm in st julians (next to the city of london pub)

I was curious about some updated pros on living in malta..I visited in the summer of 2008 for a week to stay with my GF who lived in sliema. I loved it and love the fact that i pretty much never seen cops.

We didnt go out real late to clubs much but from what i saw i wasnt real impressed with the type of people in the nightlife...too many kids and lots of dudes and not all that many cute girls IMO, overall i never found most of the girls very cute in malta. Maybe i just never noticed them though.

What type of women are there? i noticed lots of EE girls, especially Bulgarians. Are the girls at least semi easy? or do you have to put in a ton of effort? It seemed like to me there might be quite a few more guys in the clubs than girls, is this true?

It also seemed like it might be pretty easy to become extremely bored there

Life just seemed relaxed there, most places i visit just stress me out...and you dont see a cop on every street corner like the USSA

Also with cost of living...to me the apartments seem dirt cheap IMO...i also never noticed anything being overly expensive. Is this all still correct?

Im not sure what 2+2'ers do at xmas time around here but I'm thinking about organising a 12 pubs of Christmas in St Julians next Saturday, the 18th.

Basically it involves having 1 pint/alcoholic drink in 12 pubs, spending only 35 mins per pub. The only other condition is you must wear some festive attire, whether it be a full blown santa suit, a santa hat or just a red jumper, thats entirely up to you.

I was thinking of starting the 12 pub marathon in the Dubliner at 5pm (get there for 4pm if you want some food to line the stomach for the beerfest!) and stopping off in 11 different pubs finishing up down in a late bar/niteclub in Pachaville at 11pm. As I m new to the area it would be cool if people want to offer up suggestions of pubs to visit, otherwise I'll be doing a trial run tomorrow :-)

So would people be interested in doing this? Its mighty craic! If so I'll have a finalised list of pubs and times up by Thursday..

Im trying to post a picture of a previous 12 pubs of christmas we did in Sydney but not sure how to upload it

I've done the 12 pubs of xmas about 10 times. The highest number we ever got was in Dublin 2006 with 75 people. It was mental, the pubs didnt know what hit them. The first year we had 20 but was still great craic and the best thing is that it snowballs on route as you pick up loads of girls on the way and they join in with the fun

I think most of what you sayed is right. Lived 6 months in Malta and got bored superfast.
To sum up :

- Hard to find good shops : Supermarkets pretty bad, almost no specialized shop (or you got to have a car and drive around the island), no big malls, etc... Not vital definitely but really boring.
- Nightlife looks good but is one of the most boring ever : as you said, lots of boys, a LOT of very young people, only very cheap places, music is atrocious in most of the clubs (mainmainmainstream ****). So first time you go to PV you're like "Wow, nice street and a lot of action, should be fun!", but after a few times you'll not like it
- Don't know much about girls, as i was with my GF. But unless you wanna date strippers or 16-18yo european chicks, i don't think this is a very good spot I find Maltese girls really not pretty, but that's just my personal opinion.
- Everyting is relaxed that's true, but trust me that's nice for 2 weeks then you'll tilt when you want something to be done Nobody cares about anything.
- Appartments are cheap, definitely not the cheapest one in European Union tho. Cost of life is pretty much the same as in western Europe (England, France, ...) i would say, except for restaurants & nightclubs.

I'm not saying it was the worst experience ever, definitely had some good times in Malta and met some nice guys (one of the upside is that the poker community is big), but it's definitely not a country i would recommend to live in more than 6 months. (I would have stayed 3 months if i knew before, but then my flat rental agreement was 6 months long and as i said, wasn't the worst time ever also )

Hello,

We are 2 french poker players in sliema, and we are looking for a 3rd room-mate who could move in as soon as possible.

Our apartment is leased untill at least 20th februay, and then we can choose to stay in month by month.
Its a luxurious duplex penthouse with 3 rooms, 4 balcony and 2 bathrooms.

The rent is 560€ including water / electricity.

We both are around 30 years old.

I am a double or nothing player and the other guy is on mid/high stakes 6-max NL cash games, and mid stakes HU SnG.

You can private message me if interested.

Here are few pics :

Happy newyear btw everyone, i was in Malta the last 4 days visiting some friends, NYE was epic, we all left Steam 8 in the morning completely wasted, slept 4 hours and woke up feeling perfectly fine!

New years resolutions; Smile, and move my ass back to Malta.

If anyone knows a company looking to hire dutch people, preferably something in iGaming, please let me know!

Have a great 2011!
