I think most of what you sayed is right. Lived 6 months in Malta and got bored superfast.
To sum up :
- Hard to find good shops : Supermarkets pretty bad, almost no specialized shop (or you got to have a car and drive around the island), no big malls, etc... Not vital definitely but really boring.
- Nightlife looks good but is one of the most boring ever : as you said, lots of boys, a LOT of very young people, only very cheap places, music is atrocious in most of the clubs (mainmainmainstream ****). So first time you go to PV you're like "Wow, nice street and a lot of action, should be fun!", but after a few times you'll not like it
- Don't know much about girls, as i was with my GF. But unless you wanna date strippers or 16-18yo european chicks, i don't think this is a very good spot
I find Maltese girls really not pretty, but that's just my personal opinion.
- Everyting is relaxed that's true, but trust me that's nice for 2 weeks then you'll tilt when you want something to be done
Nobody cares about anything.
- Appartments are cheap, definitely not the cheapest one in European Union tho. Cost of life is pretty much the same as in western Europe (England, France, ...) i would say, except for restaurants & nightclubs.
I'm not saying it was the worst experience ever, definitely had some good times in Malta and met some nice guys (one of the upside is that the poker community is big), but it's definitely not a country i would recommend to live in more than 6 months. (I would have stayed 3 months if i knew before, but then my flat rental agreement was 6 months long and as i said, wasn't the worst time ever also
)
