Has to be tomorrow though, im leaving Malta saturday for 2-3 months at least, maybe not coming back at all, going to miss it here, Malta is awesome, people are the nicest on this planet, the sea is beautiful, girls are awesome (not my ex though, she's a slut! ) and just perfect for pokerplayers, never used a bankaccount while i was here, payed my rent cash, the rest with net+ card

And the igaming companies bring lots of cool people with them and also offer a nice opportunity may you decide to quit poker (i couldnt do it since i have had absolutely no education or office experience at all, had a good shot though, so go figure)

And the weather, 18th of february this year; 26 degrees - already started hanging at the beach and swimming last month, sea i lovely now, crystal clear water, especially in SLiema at the rock beaches, you got spots with stairs, if u jump in the water its already 5-8 meters deep, no sand bull****, love it

Soon the boat parties start again, organized by nordic bar, those are absolutely brilliant, too much alcohol and too many sluts haha excellent, boat takes off around dinner time with 70-90 people, heads over to Comino which is a small island between Malta and Gozo and stays there for 2-3 hours, journey takes 1.5 hour so 5-6 hours on the boat and u return completely ****faced and go out, real messy haha

Paceville is where all the bars are, summer it gets a bit too busy for my likings, i prefer to stay a bit downstairs then, especially at Fuegos, which is my favourite place all year round, its a salsa bar, you got a bar outside, you can stand at the bar there, or sit at a table, you can go inside and dance, and in summer they open up the roof where you can lounge on pillows, best athmosphere ever, all kinds of people go there, young and old, no fights or bull****, always good nights there, and once ur drunk you can go upstairs and u probably dont care about the millions of language students and 12yr olds running around haha joking, not that bad

Uhm once i start typing its kind of hard for me to stop, think im just gonna continue haha, need to stay up since i have to catch a real early flight satudaymorning so have to pull an allnighter tomorrow :/

I know most pokerplayers who live(d) here, think germany is at the moment most represented, all very cool guys, timstone for instance who also posts here.

Dutch group is unfortunately less outgoing than the germans, but all very serious and good players, they all rent penthouses in the same block as timstone, guess its easier to stay in if u live with roommates in a massive penthouse with a bigass jacuzzi on the huge balcony.

fatafghan is british, and always out drinking in the weekends, never stays in, you can recognize him by his unusual appearance, he pretty much looks like a drunk hairy midget hahah and had way too much sun

bfl4me also moved here recently, one of the few pokerplayers i havent met

Anyways, dont expect too much from it and youre gonna love it, its not paradise, just slightly better than where you are living at the moment, no doubt

ok guys im off, its 5 in the morning and have to continue cleaning my freezer (my neightboors love me lol)

peace!
Ty man thats given me a few ideas- Sliema seems like a really nice spot

Me and some friends are thinking about going to Malta to play some poker. Problem is, we only want to stay for maybe 3 months and all the cheap places are for 6 months. Maybe someone has a link to a thread/site where I can see places to live in malta for poker players for short periods of time?

Hey guys, thinking of moving to Malta for the summer..have some questions.

1.Does the nightlife run every day, or only really on weekends?

2.Is there anywhere in Malta where I could get vegetarian stuff? IE : Soy Milk / Soy Protein Powder / Soy Burgers / Etc.

3.Can you withdraw money from ATMs there from your home bank(HSBC in my case), or do you have to bring cash?

Thanks for any help

to find a decent 1 bedroom modern apartment in sliema and st julians, you need to spend at least 450 - 500euros. ( decent modern apartment )..there are only a few apartments with sea views that you can rent for 500euro per month, and too find any of these apartments available - it is very difficult. the reason why this will be so cheap is because the block of apartments will be around 25 years old..you cannot expect to live in the best area of malta and pay 500euro for seaviews..if you would like to move to the south or north of malta then maybe yeah you will find seaview apartments at 500euro..most poker players here in malta pay between 1300 to 4k per month for seaview apartments..to rent a decent 1 bedroom modern apartment you need to pay in the region of 800 euro per month..
which moron pays 4k for a place to live???!!! seriousy, these guys must be the most awesome baller's in europe - sooo sick!!!

Damm, yesterday night first night out in malta. Pretty crazy. Frist we went to club 121,its a club in the highest tower of malta, then we went to a stripclub, then to shadows ( above hugo's passion) had some good times in the vip with people from rakebacklovers. Evrything closes here around 4-5 in the morning. So if you still want to party you need to be going to a stripclub. We went to steam and I had a a REALLY nice time. I hope to meet some people from 2+2 here.

greets

Hey all,

Me and a friend are coming to Malta tonight, for a week. We're both 20-something, Belgian (Flemish) online grinders who are considering moving. That's why we're checking out Malta for a week: staying in St Julians, renting a car to explore the island a lil bit by day & just enjoying the nightlife by.. well night obviously.
If anyone has any tips for this week, must-do's or must-see's... or if anyone wants to hang out and show us some cool (party- or other ) places, pm me.

I will be rereading this whole thread later

Thanks.

I'm going to Malta this summer and I've heard that the casinos have extremely huge rake for the lowest cash games? Are there any casinos that have beatable rake?

What's the temperature in Malta like, right now? I'm guessing it's getting warmer (obv) but mainly curious about humidity and degrees.

Also, is there anyone who can recommend me an Realtor agent? Shouldn't be that much of a problem finding an apartment within a week, or?

Hi guys

I am coming to Malta in 10 days time - and staying for at least the summer. I have read this thread and done lots of research but have a couple of quick questions and I'd be grateful if anyone could answer them.

Where is the best place to get free wifi -or paid for that matter - in the Silema/St.Julian's area? I will need to be online for a few hours early in the morning (from 8am) a couple of days after I arrive and I probably won't have a place yet. I read McDonald's has it, but are they open at 8am?

I'm a bit of a techie noob. Is the Melita 3g any good? Ive never used 3g before and don't know if tall buildings etc might make the signal crap in certain areas, anyone use it in Silema area? I notice too that the usb stick costs 100 euros, do you have to buy this one from Melita? I ask because I read somewhere people asking a similar question as they seemed to think any existing dongle(is that a correct term?) would work. I don't have one mind you, but i'm sure i could pick one up before i go here for less than 100 euros if that would work.

Finally, any UK people in Malta, what kind of adapters are needed for the electrical equipment you brought from the UK? Is it recommended to have some sort of power surge protection if you are using laptops and computers?

Thanks for any help you can give.
Malta Chatter Thread Quote

You don't need any adapters. Malta has the same 3-prong outlets as the UK.

Its not a problem to find an apartment. Have a look at www.dhalia.com or send me an email on mabar@dhalia.com

Thanks Louis for the answer.

I've read though that Malta operates on a different voltage to the UK - 220 i think. Will this not cause any problems?

Also, what about power surge protection? Im not sure what you use to protect from power surges but I assume some kind of circuit breaker. It's just Ive read of people playing in other countries that say they are a necessity.

Thanks.

Btw I'll be adding to the 30+ crowd in Malta. I'll definitely be grinding more than partying, but will still be social none the less hopefully.

Hey guys,
I'm a 200NL grinder and im planning on moving to malta after/during this summer. I will have to go by myself because I don't have any pokerfriends who are also in for the trip lol.

Are there any people who are also going this summer who want to room up? I was planning on going alone but I guess its always better to share. thought i'd take a shot here.

Also for the people who are already there, what Area are the most pokerplayers?

Hi, Shark. I'm not living in Malta, but I can tell that from reading this thread, and talking to a lot of the grinder residing there, that the main area to be in is St.Julians and Sliema. It's more expensive there tough, because of it being very central.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a good play to stay, 5-10 minutes outside of those cities. ( cheaper flats, condos, and such ) You can either walk, or take a bus. I think walking is the best option, as we grinders need our daily exercise.

Once you get there, it shouldn't be a problem to hook up with different people as these people party alot, and theres 180+ companies related to the online gaming business located in Malta. So, if you just hang around, ask around, and drink around, you'll find someone for sure. This thread is also good, though it seems the grinders are more out in the sun, cause of the summer season. Thus, the lesser updates of it.

Also, the realtor agent Matt81 is a guy who's done business with tons of grinders. He should be able to tell you if someone is looking for a roommate. connections, connections, connections.
