Hi I have a question. I would be interested in moving to Malta and playing online poker from that state. Does someone have experience with the area? If so, you can share them.

I currently live in Slovakia, I am 21 years old and I play the SNG hyper turbo 6 max format at Limits 7-30. After the summer, I need to move away from my parents and start living alone. The rent for an apartment in Slovakia is the same as the rent in Malta. That's why I don't hesitate, but I would like me to know more from the poker community.

Without knowing much about slovakia i very much doubt this and would bet my first born comparable apartments in malta will be 2-3x.

The current price in Slovakia for a 1-room apartment connected with a kitchen and one bathroom is 300-400 €, the price for an apartment with two bedrooms and a separate kitchen and one bathroom is usually around 500-600 €. I wonder if the prices on the mortar website are really the same as they are listed. and if anyone could advise me, the best area with the cheapest price.

What time it's best to travel to Malta. and how much money to prepare in advance for the advance only for life and rent.

I haven't been in ages, but I'm pretty sure that is not the price range of rentals on Malta, TimStone's guesstimate is probably more like it

It depends where you wanna live. If you fine with living in maltese village far from everything you probably can get something along the prices you quoted which will be in fairly poor condition. If you want a nice place in sliema or st julians you probably can 2.5-3x those numbers.

For cheaper and still not to far away can look into gzira and swieqi however even there you wont find anything for 500 bucks which is even remotely livable.

Malta is nice from end april to mid october. How much money you have to prepare nobody can tell you.
All i can tell you is that Malta will be significantly more expensive than slovakia in every single aspect apart from maybe drinks at a bar

come to Malta, book a airbnb/ hotel for a week or two, contact some real estate agents, they are all the same and all have the same database, all have the same fee (50% of one months rent) so doesn't really matter who you contact, back when I was renting quicklets and hero agents were good.

You will probably like Sliema, St Julians, Swieqi.

Real estate market is going down due to malta being greylisted, autumn/winter is a good time to rent anyway, you will find good deals, you can also negotiate.

There are a couple of traps though:
-Make sure your contract is registered with the housing authority
-make sure you are on the correct electricity tariff, landlords scam hard with that
-take photos when you move and make sure you put in the contract what you need to do to get your deposit back. LL will try and scam you with the deposit almost always.
