Hey guys,

Anybody knows about this: https://www.ccmalta.com/news/skill-games-fantasy-sports
Just moved back to Malta cause Czech Rep was regulating, would be a nightmare if they do it there too.

Maybe somebody could provide info on live poker games in Malta.
Looking for live NLH 1 2 or 2 5 cashgames during wintertime.
Opening and closing times etc and locations etc.

It is probably in this thread already, but hard to find.

AFAIK theres cashgame in Portomaso basically everyday and the games look very juicy, but the rake is very high. 20 euro cap IIRC in a 1/2 game.

IMHO the rake makes the game unplayable, but i could be wrong.

what about casino Malta cg?

I had been there during the Battle of Malta... It was extremly juicy because there had been drunken swedish and israeli player in it...

Best example: 5bet shoving pre with 200bbs (0,5/1) with 8-5off...

But I think that was just because of the tournament season? Israeli poker tour and Battle of Malta? Or are there also some fish during normal times at malta?

Furthermore, I wanted to ask about the tournaments especially at portomaso? Fridays and on Weekends they have buy-ins around 90-160, what about the field? Just regs? Thanks for any information!

So theres a donkament series every months in one of the casinos.
I havent played any of them because i work 40 hours a week and i dont enjoy live poker for more than one evenjng every couple of months.
That being said the number of recreational players highly depends on the tournament series, at the EPT the tables looked VERY tough to me.

When theres no series around the buyins are low and so is the average quality of ur opponent.
If u think playing 50 euro tournaments with 15% rake, 30 runners and lots of fishes is worth ur time go ahead and play them. Id rather stab myself in the eye with a fork.

In terms of softness its dragonara >>>>>>> casino malta > portomaso imo

Would someone mind outlining the steps required to relocated to Malta as a poker refugee?

That's impossible to answer without knowing your citizenship, and how long / how frequently you intend to be in Malta.

I'm an Australian citizen. Our government is going to ban online poker in the coming weeks so I need to relocate somewhere. I'm looking for somewhere that poker is tax free (Malta, UK come to mind).

Poker isn't tax free in Malta, it's just that nobody reports it.

Anyone looking to re-locate to Malta around May/June and looking for a flat mate? Would like to rent a nice 2-bedroom apartment in St. Julian's. Rent roughly 600-1k/person. Playing mid-hs MTTs und midstakes cashgames, would be nice if you do too.

Bluffthespot is excited to announce that we'll be starting a grindhouse in Malta!
The house will be available from may 2017.

Living in a grindhouse give you the opportunity to live with other poker players, learn from each other, make new friends and enjoy the sunny island of Malta.
The house will be ready to move into.
And in certain cases, we will pay for part of your rent or all of it!

Thinking about relocating to Malta (not playing poker anymore) and I'm from Germany, when it comes to health insurance most people mentioned Atlas health insurance. Are you guys happy with it and any good alternatives? And when renting a new flat here, did you pay in advance or just showed them bank statements. (A account from a local bank will probably help, I guess?)

I rented two flats here, and no one asked me for any papers, tax returns, bank statements etc.

if the landlord or agent asks u, just tell them u work in the iGaming industry.

ok interesting, any rental site suggestions besides the links on the first post for long term rentals?

i strongly believe u should start looking for flats once ur in malta. the reason for that is the websites are outdated and useless. flats get rented out super fast (sometimes within hours) especially during the summer.

there are two options imo:
a) u farm all the facebook groups and make a post. mention ur budget, location number of bedrooms etc etc. add NO AGENTS PLEASE. agents will still contact u, but u might find a nice flat directly with the landlord. u save half a months rent + tax.
b) suck it up and contact an agent. it doesn't matter too much who u contact, they all have the same flats available.
The guys at Quicklets were really motivated, I can recommend them.

Make sure ur on the residential electricity tariff, landlords dont pay taxes on rent and that means lots of people pay the much more expensive domestic tariff.
