That's not really true though. If you live or work anywhere around St. Julians/Paceville/Sliema it's ideal to have one for parking.

Every morning going to work I spend at least 25 minutes driving around looking for a free spot on the road before giving up and parking in the car park.

Will hopefully be getting my hands on one before the summer.

Hi! I'm moving to Malta today. (already have rented an apartment in Fort Cambridge). Unfortunately i don't know anybody there, so have some questions...
Where do get an ID or where do i have to officially register?
Do i need to get a medical insurance?
What Gym would you recommend?
Any other things i should think at the beginning?
I play NL 1k-5k, so if someone wants to meet in a bar and speak about poker and other staff, feel free to pm me. I'm from Germany, speak Russian, English
Thxs

Hey, for the ID you have to be somewhere in Valletta at the passport office (you apply, they send you a form and then you have to come back). I have no idea about medical insurance, maybe ask your embassy? Not sure which gym people from Sliema go to so can't help you with that.

And I'll probably go out this weekend with a bunch of people so you can join us if you want to (mix of poker players/gaming industry guys).

Also I wouldn't worry too much about organising stuff as lots of people have lived here w/o ID for ages and really no one cares in Malta :P

Welcome

Cynergy is also a good gym (and up to standard). Not far from Frt Camb as it's in St Julians (Paceville) below the cinema

Preluna gym is the closest to you and is ok. Equipment is fairly old but it works and the prices are good.

You dont really need to register or get medical insurance as you are from the EU.

First, thanks all for the infos! Got fine here yesterday, but had to pay 600€ for 40 kg extra baggage… Still really happy (!) for deciding not to take my car The taxi driver was pretty weird, had no idea neither where the address nor where Fort Cambridge is, and had to call my estate agent …

I'm not surprised at all, that Maltese don't care about the ID etc (i'm originally from Russia)… i am more concerned about Germany, sometime back there the authorities might be a little less flexible, but it's a very different topic.

Regarding gym, cynergy is about 40 min walking from Ford Cambridge, but forced to be jogging might be good and it's not too far So, i probably first try all 3 gyms and then decide. Hope to see you guys here, live!

It's a nice jog down the seafront. Did a free one day trial at the Hilton and Cynergie, both ok but will prob join Preluna because of the location and there was nothing really outstanding about Cynergie. Main reason to get an ID card is for a discount on the bus.

Have 2 rooms available in pretty sweet apartment at belmonte heights in sliema from march 1st- 300 euros rent a month, 300 deposit, no lease required, internet is all setup etc. A/C unit there and fully furnished. Will upload pics shortly, would prefer MTT/SNG players. Could be a good deal for some grinders as you won`t have to pay high season rates or have to commit to lease. Approx 6 weeks - 2 months notice would be required if you`re leaving if you`d like to retain deposit :P I`m a 22 yr old Irish mid to high stakes MTT grinder

http://www.belmonteheights.com/main.html

Send me a PM if you are interested in arranging a viewing/ reserving a place.

edit: one room available now from the 1st of Feb

I have just rented an apartment trough Andreea Maria from malta-property-agents.com. She also helped me with setting up a Maltese bankaccount and fixed internet within a few days. So if anyone is thinking about moving to malta i would suggest to contact her.

Yeah, after contacting a couple other agents I ended up using Andreea, as well, and I'm pretty happy with the place she found, especially because I was only looking for a three month lease and none of the other agents could be bothered to find me anything acceptable.

Never seen one either and I think if there was one, it will be more than highly frequented.

In St Julian's / Paceville, the beachs are always full !

yup and there are really great conditions here for windsurfing, especially outside of summer- also theres some tennis courts etc in portomaso. But yeah its a nice place for running and swimming in summer. Perhaps something to bear in mind too is that the maltese are one of the most inactive populations in europe according to the last study I saw :P Explains the very low crime rate

Hi, guys, I'm strongly thinking about a move to sunny Malta. Few questions for you guys.
1. Does Amazon or Ebay ship to Malta?
2.What is the internet connection like. I am currently on 20mb in the UK and I think that is fine for gaming and general browsing purposes.
3. Are the local girls attractive?
4. Are they easy lol?
5. What's the nightlife like?
6. How are the local people generally, i.e are they a friendly bunch or a miserable lot.
7. What are the costs for Electricity, water, internet/tv and landline?(1 or 2 bedroom place)
8. Which TV channels do we get?

Apologies if these questions have been asked.

Thanks

One-Time

Onetime, a few short answers for you, a lot of it has been covered before

1. Yes
2. Internet almost flawless and better than UK upto 100mbps
3. Maltese girls skinny and are generally big chested, a lot of nice looking girls here
4. Just use that natural born English charm we have and youll be fine
5. Nightlife busy all week in Paceville (main club spot), its good not great in winter, summer is when theres more option and a ton of events and open air clubs.
6. Depends where you live, stick to St Julians/Sliema and youll meet awesome people everywhere you go. Maltese generally freindly but dont expect any decent customer service its the worst ive ever seen!
7. Rent depending on Area, my San Gwann apartment is 480 for a 3 bed big apt, about 220-250pppm inc E/W, Sliema/St Jules normally the players choice, 1/2 apts when i was looking last start from 600. Intenet 50 euros monthly for my 65mbps.
8. Local TV sucks, but cables cheap. But internets so fast people just stream everything.

Thatll do anymore Qs feel free to PM me.
