Hey guys, I've lived in San Diego for the last year and a half and have been to Tijuana 20+ times. Tijuana can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, and if you're just being a plain idiot - the same could be said about many "dangerous" cities in America. I've been to the Tijuana Red Light District more times than I can count...once you learn how to navigate/know what not to do - TJ is a wonderland of beautiful Mexican/Latin women and the most amazing food!! BTW my Spanish is terrible, but I'm actively learning it!


I am moving down to Playas De Tijuana - a little beach town directly south of Tijuana. It's about 10 miles from the US border. It's an extremely safe and quiet beach town. Check craigslist.tijuana - the rent prices here are RIDICULOUS!

Yesterday I went to the border and got my tourist visa (good for 180 days) in about 10 minutes!

Search for "banking in mexico" to read up on setting up a bank account in Mexico - it sounds extremely easy and I doubt I'll have a problem getting one set up.

This is a great safe location - we are close to the US border, we're about 10 mins away from the most amazing women + food, Playas itself has AMAZING CHEAP seafood all around, etc. I'm looking for 1-2 roommates to live with in Playas. My top pick for a place right now is a top floor condo in Playas with ocean views - 2 guys are there right now - one is moving within the next MONTH.

I'd like to add that every time I've gone down to Mexico has been with a good friend who lived in Playas De Tijuana for two years. He's an American - he can vouch for it being safe, quiet and a great place to live.

Some info I'd like to add to my post is... Playas de Tijuana is literally 7-8 miles from the US border. The house I moved from in San Diego is another 7-8 miles from the border!! So at most you're about 25-30 mins from San Diego!

I mention this b/c most people don't realize how close San Diego is to Mexico! Hell I didn't realize it until about a year ago!
