then i feel like im never gonna win again and start to research vietnam so i am somewhat ready when time to head there and teach english

yes its easy to open a bank account here, you can get an account at OSK bank right next to samudura market with just an address meaning any hotels business card and your passport

or from a better more reliable bank like acledia or canadia with either a 3 month or 6 month visa

not sure about using banks for poker but you can use moneybookers and id assume you could use that with any bank or at least one of those

Don't see it being a problem cashing out, gambling isn't illegal in Cambodia.

after almost 3 months of looking i finally saw a cobra

cuz i went to the snake house, pretty cool place, $3 entry, the tuk tuk ride was more expensive ($8 because we went the long way home by the monkeys, would have been $5 for tuk tuk there and back)

pretty big variety of venomous snakes, mostly cobras but thats to be expected, they also had some puff adders which are tied for my fav with black mambas, im pretty sure puff adders arent indigenous to this region (at least any time ive googled "venomous snakes in cambodia" they havent popped up) and some vipers

saw a spitting cobra, the king cobra was hiding, an albino cobra

at first i thought there was a black mamba looked very much like one but then he stood up in the cobra stance so it wasnt

dont think there were any krates which are the most deadly snake around here, though over half of the tanks werent labeled so there might have been one and i didnt notice

cambodians certainly dont follow the "dont tap the glass" rule, makes you feel pretty bad for the snakes not only do they sit in a lil box all day long and never do a damn thing but they also have to get scared out of their minds as people walk past all the time pounding on the glass to get them to strike at it, the cobras usually gave a reaction, some did try to bite through the glass, but the puff adders just laid there and didnt move a centimeter the whole time

one thing i saw that you dont really notice when you watch a show about snakes is how heavy they start to breathe when they get excited or agitated, if you just calmly walk up they breathe normal and you cant even see it, but if you get to close, tap on the glass, or make any sort of threatening move to them every breath makes them almost double in thickness

took my fav and her kid and we head over to the crocodile section, its so not like any zoo in the US no supervision whatsoever, like a 3 or 4 foot high rail is all that separates you from a drop off down to a bunch of crocs, and right as we walk up to the biggest ones is when my fav decides she needs to go to the bathroom so can i watch her crazy rambunctious kid who likes to climb things, nice timing as we get to the most dangerous area of the place so i walk him back over to all the exotic birds

they also had a rabbit which was so out of place

there are like 3 or 4 areas with crocs, one filled with 6 or 7 of the big ones (not huge), then a couple that are filled with like 30 smaller ones

i wonder who cleans the cages and if they go around messing with all these venomous snakes and big crocs for only $3 a day

funny to hear all the cambodian superstitions about different snakes and birds, there was an owl which is like the most harmless thing there along with the rabbit and other birds yet it scared her as much as anything because "its very very bad" and if you are sick and one comes and hoots outside of your house you are probably gonna die

and when we were in the area with some fish she tells this awesome story: "i buy 5 of these to put in a tank at my house but i forget about them and they die in bag"

she also said when she was like 10 she was walking down the road and came face to face with a big cobra, she ran away and got her dad, he tried to cut its head off with a machete when it was standing tall but it dodged it but then he got it when it went back down and tried to get away, and when we got by the green pit vipers she said that she sees them frequently when farming

then we leave and go down this street where i guess a bunch of monkeys hang out (wabby can probably fill us in better on what this road is all about) right next to independence hotel which is supposedly one of the 2 nicer and more expensive hotels in the city (along with sokha hotel) but for some reason only one monkey is out i guess normally there are lots, its free to go and you can buy a bunch of bananas for a dollar to feed them, the only monkey that was there had a huge hole in his face, actually it was on both sides but only one of the sides was really open

the hole was so big that part of the banana he ate came out of it, it was disgusting, not sure if it was from a fight or if he was diseased, initially i walked right up to him like 2 feet away and he didnt care at all (sure he is used to people) but once i saw the nastiness on his mouth i definitely kept my distance

then we get back to hotel right as tourneys are starting up but since her kid is so tired and instantly goes to sleep in her room she comes over and we do some boom boom while im playing the rebuy hour (got no hands at all so was easy to just keep clicking fold)

im getting used to the fact that i can go to a bar and get whatever girl for the 2 for $20, not sure i can ever get used to a girl this awesome actually wanting to hang out with me, all im giving her is $20 a day and there is some cambodian holiday going on right now which has the city packed and the hotels charging extra, so her room costs $12 a day, after food for her and her kid she is basically profiting nothing

the last time she came down here to see me she spent more money then i paid her throughout the day on random stuff, but then after we were done she would go down to the beach and find some other customers who gave her a bunch of money (one guy gave her $100 for 1 boom boom i remember)

but this time with her kid here she never goes down to the beach or anything, im sure some roll there eys and laugh at me for believing that, but if she told me in the past no reason for her not to say now

just ate at my hotel for the first time, tried the lok lak, 2nd time ive had it, its an interesting dish, white rice with beef, chicken or pork and topped with a fried egg, it is pretty good and i think it could potentially be very good but the beef out here just isnt good and the time i had the pork it wasnt to good either (though ive heard the pork in the area is better than the beef)

could really go for a nice big juicy burger on the grill, or from the grand lux, heck a double double from in n out sounds great and is clearly better than anything ive had here

i think you might be on to something mixgame, as she tells her son to call me papa, and since like the 4th day ive known her has told me how much she wants my barang baby

ive told her many many times that im not raising anything and that she will need to get an abortion and she just says fine you dont do anything ill raise him myself, all of this was covered way before i decided to go rubberless, and she has enough money, or at least land and farms, to be able to raise the kid so i wouldnt be leaving some broke starving child behind

kozz - all i can tell you about is sihanoukville, i enjoy it though i spend most of my time in my room and i dont think there is all that much to do here, but it definitely seems safe so far especially if you stay the heavy tourist areas where you can get a room for a month for $300ish (serendipity beach/road)


i spend $900ish a month, could pretty easily drop down to $700ish and still be pretty happy, but im uber life nit and dont drink so id say expect to spend $1200 and be happy if/when your costs go under that
