I've been reading this thread from start to page ~70 and have wanted to comment several times, but I thought nah just read till the end and see how it pans out but after reading this I had to comment...

Too ****ing right. I nearly didn't get past the first 10 pages of this thread as about the only informative post in those pages was the first one. However I thought no no I'm sure they'll be plenty of useful info and some amazing tips on where to go and what to see, where to eat/hang out ect from people who more than likely have the same or similar interests to me, and as I intend to play poker whilst travelling I figure reading these threads will help me out a lot with where to stay and play more than tripadvisor ect will.

Those first 10 pages were a treat to my eyes compared to the drivel that has followed in this car crash of a thread.

I respect your honesty and in principle I have a lot of time for someone who has the guts to move to a foreign country without a whole lot of money/wiggle room or knowledge/experience and makes a go at it- FAIR PLAY best of luck and I hope it works out.

But when I read that post you made (amongst others) saying you were too scared to walk down the beach when there were children playing on it my reaction was WTF is this guy doing! How can he move abroad and feel/act like that? He really doesn't seem like the sort of person who's gonna be able to provide much valuable insight when he just wants to stay cooped up in a hotel room and grind... then after another 30 or so pages (idk my mind is mush now) how is he the only one contributing to the thread.

Again fair enough you don't have a big budget to go places but im sure the odd day trip away or doing some sight seeing won't kill you (both monetary and literal) and it doesn't seem like you've been grinding all that much.

I'm not looking to start another argument and I'm sorry if this is coming over as a personal attack but it has been SO frustrating sifting through this thread from start to finish (well page ~70) and the thailand one is 30x longer. And everyone don't start jumping up in K2D's defence saying 'well hater if you don't like it you don't have to read it... '

I sorta do...It's not the life and times of K2D. It's a travel thread supposedly the idea being its filled with things to do, places to go and general good advice for people who are planning on going there and want check it out beforehand.

I know its not just you it's just that you're the main poster and part of the problem is that not many people have been contributing by asking questions or posting suggestions themselves and I don't mean to give you bashing but jesus man you've done the hard part moving there now take your toe out the water and dive in head first. (AND BUY A CAMERA!!!)

-I've never been one for taking pictures either. I guess I've always kinda thought of it as a bit of a girly thing so I can see why some people don't really take pictures but you've moved to a completely different part of the world and I bet there are some beautiful places you could share with us, or even just to give people a feel for the place.

Fortunately I have copied every useful bit of information out of this thread up to about the 1000th post and will post it all in a new thread for Cambodia to spare anyone else who's thinking about going there. So don't take offense by me starting a new thread I'm merely helping out anyone else who'd have to read through this, if you are offended then go back to page one.

Now my first question for you is...

Do I continue to read the last 1/3 of this thread for more info or do I move onto the other countries im going to visit?

After reading another page I'd like to appologise for losing patients and not reading to the end of the thread, which I will be doing because your story interests me. It's just sooo long for the amount useful information for someone who wants to move there any play.

Rob, if you have specific questions you should just ask them. I'm sure there are other guys living in Cambodia that will answer them for you, they don't post much otherwise though.

Like its your god given right to have a thread exactly how you want it with answers to questions you dont even have yet? Count yourself lucky that you have people on the ground there constantly updating and checking this thread with the life and times of what its like to be a poker playing while living in Cambodia. Theres only so much info one can realistically give out on any destination, it sounds like your better off buying a lonely planet if you want to learn some basics first.

Agreed that K2D should get a camera though!

im sure there are plenty of "beautiful places" i could go, they dont interest me in the slightest and i hate traveling, there are other forums out there for that kind of stuff, and im sure others have taken pictures of them that you could find online

and just cuz i dont post much about poker doesnt mean i dont play a lot, i play 40-55 hours a week

powers out, still not feeling great so took a relax day and headed down to the beach, saw the smoking hottest white girl ive seen in 2+ months in a thong and top that was to small that her booozoooooms were flowing out of, obv got one of the beach chairs behind her and stared for awhile while drinking a watermelon shake (the best of the fruit shakes imo)

have a theory they are going to JJ's tonight, so ill probably go and then b1tch out on approaching her as i know i have no chance and go with one of the easy ones instead

I have seen or heard about people eating just about any thinkable animal here. Fried big spiders, cockroaches, living worms.... but I have never heard about anyone eating dog meat here.


Well, in general there is more demand than supply for power at the moment. Which means that in peak times, they will have to shut down 10-20% of the city. So they kinda rotate the "dark ages" around city, and it would not surprise me if the tourist area have negotiated that they need power in evening/night time

solid chance it was a joke as why would he seriously be calling me and asking me that? but he never made any jokes when he drove me around for like 4 days so who knows, either way even if joke was really weird


i just ran soooooo good, i call up new sea view villa to order food and totally blank on the name of what i want to order (chicken pesto pasta) and go uhh umm uhh, and guess penne pasta and they say they dont have that, so i go with a backup chicken and mushroom pasta

when i go over to pick it up theyve got the chicken pesto pasta waiting for me


i pretty much never run like that im a lil worried bad things are coming



fwiw i think that may be the best value food in snooky, its an appetizer and only $2.50 but they give you quite a bit and will give a lot of bread if you ask as well, and its high quality

so this is a post i made on my 3rd or 4th night here


went out to victory hill tonight, motorbike driver kept wanting to show me other places to go for girls (wanted his cut obv) i said no thanks but he kept pushing to show me them even if i didnt buy (he thought the site of a girl would have me off the bike and running inside) so i said ok

i am 95% sure that the above mentioned apt is on a street called "blue mountain" that is basically like the main wh0ring strip in the city with lots of shacks full of vietnamese girls

it also happens to be where i met shack girl

so you could live right on that street for $150 a month!!!!


also found out that pretty close to charlie harpers and 1 block some direction off the main road (eckareach, 1 block to the right if going FROM the beach TOWARDS charlie harpers or victory hill) there are like 3 different places where you can go in for a quickie for $15 at any time, basically seems like if your driving down the street and see anywhere that has 4 girls sitting around a table looking board they are waiting for you

if you negotiate and talk like you know your stuff you could get cheaper than $15, particularly if you have your own bike so the motodriver doesnt take a cut



not a fan of victory hill, girls ask for to much money (comparatively speaking of course)

ezyano got this one girls number and was gonna give it to me but he lost the piece of paper within 3 minutes

i finally go out there for the first time since (probably the last) go right to the same bar, she's in there im all "hey hows it going remember me" she says ya, she asks about EZ cuz she was totally in love, i ask if i can pay her barfine she says ok, i ask how much she says $30 short time......... lol that means $40, where does she think she is??? i say $20 for 2 times and she starts talking to her friends, i could tell that even if she went it wouldnt have been a good match so i just walk out


go down the street and run into the girl from my first night at victory hill (like 4th night in town) who i said we boom boom twice she said ok then she left after once claiming she didnt know what the word twice meant and we had awkward argument eventually i just paid her so i didnt get stabbed

i thought she probably hated me but she smiled and waved and asked me how my leg was (awwww so sweet) cuz she was the first girl i went with after i messed it up

she said she doesnt barfine anymore cuz she has boyfriend, i thought it would be awkward if we ran into each other again but wasnt, none of the girls in her bar were to hot, well one had a pretty face but couldnt tell how the body was cuz of her clothes and it made me think it might not be to good


go down the street girl comes up to me pretty good face alright body a little thick but im fine with that, i ask how much she says $30 short time i say no ill do 20 for 2 she says no i say ok nevermind see ya later, she then asks how long i say not to long she says ok

get back to the room, takes off her shirt and she says she had a baby, most girls have.......... but these were the most babyscarred boobies ive ever seen

Appreciate the information you have posted about Cambodia and the things you have experienced. I can understand people who are asking you to refrain from posting details to some of your adventures but it adds a little entertainment/comedic value to this thread so if the mods dont have a problem why should we. Hope to adventure to SE Asia in the near future, maybe Cambo will be a stop.

I agree k2d should make an own thread, you hijacked it with 100% of personal stories and 0 usefullness about cambodia. As i recently spent time in cambo, i check the thread out for news and all i can read is broke stories about a 1 dollar fight with a his shag girl. Not cool. If k2d would spend the same amount of time on the strategy threads instead of writing his personal bullsht here you would not have a problem making a living with poker in cambodia.

power goes out at 7 am, thats the friggin worst, and obv it goes out on the first hot day in weeks so you have to lie in bed awake sweating, couldnt have been on any of the cloudy days recently

no fan also means hearing everything going on in the bar, and also hearing a guy standing on the walkway outside of our rooms coughing and spitting for a solid 30 minutes, fun times

somehow get back to off and on sleep for a bit, 930 power comes back on....... for 15 seconds, son of a..... i hate getting teased

eventually comes back on at 12:30, think i got a total of like 3 hours of crappy sleep


got a pizza at thida's inn right across from fortuna casino again, im sure ive mentioned it before but excellent pizza, like if i were in america i would be eating it and i cant say that for much food ive had anywhere in asia

also had the burgers there a few times, while i wouldnt eat those if i were in america as a double double from in n out is better and cheaper as are many other options, its still the best burger ive had in 2 months

cute hotel chick was trying to get me to buy her food today since i havent bought her anything since i found out she lies, when i asked her about that she said she didnt tell me/us because she didnt know if she really likes the guy or not, i coulda pressed it and been all "well why did you tell your friend to specifically tell us that you didnt have a boyfriend" but i didnt wanna go that far

havent shaved in 2 months, dont mind the beard but the stash is getting outta control, i was using one of those plackers dental flossers the other day and one of the stash hairs got pushed inbetween two teeth, couldnt get it out so it ended up getting ripped right from the skin
