How are the recent games in Nagaworld?

I've gone through the info available publicly (2p2 etc) and have heard some dated word-of-mouth stuff, but opinions on the quality of games (aka action/profitability) seem pretty mixed.

The main daily games appear to be NLH 1/3 $500 max and 2/5 $1500 max with 5+ tables running, and I personally consider their rake not low but still doable (am used to very high rake). So structure-wise a decent win rate seems possible, unless of course most of the player pool buys in <100bbs or are very nitty to the point where game selection is meaningless. In that regard, some have said the recent games have been a regfest, but some say they are soft as most 1/3 and 2/5 games tend to be.
PLO would be the better option for similar small stakes (1/3 for Nagaworld as I have heard), but it appears they don't run consistently.

If anyone could chime in with up-to-date info, it would be greatly appreciated.

They are generally running 3-4 tables 1/3, and 2-3 tables 2/5, I only really play at ming men recently so this is a bit generalized. The 1/3 tended to have more short stackers and the 2/5 had a reasonable amount of people buying in deeper.

Outside of Naga, the Ming Men 2/5 runs at 7pm and is 300-2000 buyin.

There was another Chinese game that was insane the last few weeks, but it looks to have died down too.

Poker King (aka River King) is running 5/5 PLO everyday, starts early maybe 1 pm. Few times I peeked it looked like great action. Made me want to learn how to play.
Sometimes 5/10 or even bigger.

Naga 2/5 is good. Many deep stacks. Yes, lots of regs, mostly Chinese, some westerners. But it's fine, plenty are bad or mediocre regs, except a few Japanese and a couple white pros. So it is beatable, just ask for a table change on the rare occasion that you end up sitting with 5-6 Japan/Euro pros.

Naga 1/3 looks even easier without any pros.

hey saw your guys posts. been thinking about going for 1-2 months grind, finishing in naga during the wpt.

never been to cambodia, residenting in thailand. was thinking about maybe doing shinaoukville->Phenom Phen. I play 1/3 mostly. Reading here, games in PP seems to be good, talking with others, they say they are ****. So a bit clueless.

Anyhow. Saw some negative posts about 72 in SV, so not sure if there is other good options? preferably looking for lowest rake possible with good games obv.

Yeah, it used to be 5% cap 20 at all levels, but I haven't been in ages, I thought I heard they have increased it for higher stakes, but maybe I'm confusing it with another place. Yeah no smoking on the tables but don't expect a non-smoking environment

Who said the 1/3 games in PP are good? The 1/3 PLO at PK maybe, that was not a bad game, if it still runs. The 1/3 NL was never particularly good, I haven't been since last year but I doubt things have changed, it's been like that for years. PK is nice people, good atmosphere, for the most part, free food, can make friends, but the NL game, quite honestly, nah. Unless when the 5/5, 5/10 PLO peeps randomly decide to play NL, then that's usually a good game, but it plays pretty big. But the 1/3, sometimes it was ok, sometimes very bad. But even when it's good it's mostly because there are a lot of bad regs on the table, not because there are a lot of completely clueless donks.

The 1/3 at Naga is a little bit different but much of the same story. Sometimes you can get some Chinese tourists and stuff and the game can be good, but usually you go there and you recognize most of the faces on the tables. Most of them are not monsters but at the same time they are not terrible either and with the elevated rake makes the game somewhat meh. They're beatable sure, but let's just say I would not go there for the games.

When a tourney is in town, like the WPT, forget about all of that. That will be bring in a lot of whales like tourneys usually do, probably.

I hope this is the right place. I want to ask is online poker in Cambodia banned? I read somewhere that gambling was banned in Cambodia causing Chinese to leave the country. So I'm wondering if this includes poker and specifically online poker? Do Pokerstars, ggpoker operate there? Thinking about spending a year in Cambodia to explore and hopefully play some online poker.

NL Holdem in Cambodia is pretty lousy, Naga is just a battle of nitregs where no one is beating the rake, you basically have to hope to find a decent Chinese game in Sihanoukville, and those games are becoming fewer and far between nowadays. And if there is a whale already at the table, good luck getting a seat. .

Online gambling was banned in 2019, that is correct. Live gambling is allowed for foreigners in registered casinos, banned for Cambodians (selectively enforced, like much of the law in Asian countries and esp in Cambo). AFAIK there are still many sites allowing players, it might be wiser to register from another country, but I've not heard them banning anyone bcos they played from Cambo. Cambo popo prolly neither has the means nor any motivation to hunt for any foreign online players. That is as long as you have the capability to shut up and not rub it into peeps too forcefully esp not powerful locals. But I can't tell you exactly, I've retired from online poker sometime ago. Obv I'm not encouraging anybody to do anything illegal.

Also If the poker site finds out my IP is from different country I get banned. I get from your response that online poker is included in the online gambling ban. But if that's the case I don't think poker sites would even allow IPs from cambodia to register. So there is no need to hunt me down

I think Cambodia has easier Visa requirements, at least 1 year visa requirements. So that's why I would prefer it.

That's nonsense, sorry. Tons of online poker sites operate in all kinds of illegal markets. And not just online poker sites, uber, airbnb etc. all operate in clearly illegal markets. Granted, I haven't read the online gambling ban law of Cambo but I'm pretty sure such a law includes poker. However, there is also what I said before, so you have to make your own decisions. At the live poker tables, in social events, bars, nightlife, whatever. You don't wanna rub info that could potentially be used against you into peeps you can't trust well...

The 1/3 NL at Ming Men in PP is pretty consistently good. We have a good mix of Chinese baccarat players, local businessmen and barangs.


During WPT the cash games actually tend to get tougher from my experience.

It'd be worth giving Ming Men a shot for NL stakes vary mostly 1/3 and 2/5 with the occasional 5/10 or 25/50 squid game.

For Sihanoukville Jin Bei 1 just relaunched and has been doing quite a few tables, games are good but rake is on the higher end. Queenco seems to be doing a relaunch thats been doing well, and I heard Big Fish does some decent things with lower rake.

Cambodia is overall pretty safe, just be wise about how you do things and you won't run into problems. Like I personally had an issue with another room here, and just let it go as it's not worth it. Quality of living is definitely better in Thailand and Vietnam.

Well, overall yeah, I guess you could say it's at least as corrupt as Thailand, basically no big thing is happening in the country without "friendly interactions" and prolly many small things neither. All the countries in the region are poor and supercorrupt. However, in Cambo, I guess it's arguable, but it doesn't affect you quite as much as in TH. Traffic popo extorting peeps for money is rare. The corruption even works to your advantage or why do you think you can extend business visas for like 30$/mo indefinitely with no biz at all.
Most common things to look out for in Cambo (that is PP and SR, I don't have much experience in SHV, and I think SHV is a little bit like a different matter, prolly not quite as safe):
* Bars / restaurants /nightclubs (mostly bars and nightclubs) inflating your bill. Far more common in Vietnam but it is known to happen.
* Everybody always warns me of thieves snatching phones or other stuff from you on your tuktuk. I never experienced / seen this, but apparently it's a thing. Note in Cambo you can actually get a tuktuk at very reasonable prices unlike TH. Use grab/passapp. Moto also available, nobody cares about helmet, but make sure you use the apps or always negotiate the price in advance
* Don't buy drugs or girls from tuktuk drivers or other unknowns. You will be offered this frequently. It's never good quality and at worst dangerous or they have some malicious plans with you. But it's not that common. The happy pizza/shake shops at the riverside are ok. If there are dealers in front of them, they are not. Ofc when you are blacked out lying somewhere in the street don't expect to wake up with money or credit cards you previously carried with you.
* Don't carry CCs anyway, they are not always accepted, sometimes subject to surcharge, and who knows what some of these bars do with your number. Cash is king.
* Generally use common sense, don't do anything you wouldn't do at home, but IME esp PP and SR are not very dangerous, the countryside even less. Cambodians are very nice peeps on average, most of them will treat you very well, not steal from you, etc. Buddhist traditions.
* Be aware, unlike TH, many girls in the bars are not available for take out. Ask early to avoid disappointment.
* Pontoon is the main nightclub for westerners in PP, there are others but that's the main one. Many freelancers there along with expats, tourists, locals, pretty wild mix. Don't openly do drugs there, you will get kicked out
* Cambo has many similarities to Thailand, obv since they are neighboring countries but also some unique features. Cambo music is better than Thai music also IMO. I always liked it and at least thus far never ran into major issues. Obv it is not quite as developed and dirtier than TH. They often say Thailand 20 years ago, there is some truth to it. Once I played in a game in SHV which I later found out was rigged, but I just played a few hours and came out ahead mostly bcos of a set vs AA against another westerner.

I thought all major poker sites would stop accepting players from Cambo in fear of fines. I read about arrest in Thailand and Cambo for online gambling. I assume it's mostly for sites managers and ring operations and not lone players. But I guess arrest for lone players don't make the news. What do I know

Last question, I know it's a broad question, but what would you recommend SR or PP? SR is cheaper, quieter, and cleaner I assume.

There were some Russian whales in cashgames last WPT, but beside them the games were a waste of time.
