Just spent 2 days in shihanookville. Nice little town. Fortuna casino good games, 2.5%uncapped tough, the 10 hrs i played there did pay for the trip tough. Dolphin at the beach is the place to be. I managed to spend 100 usd at a place where a draft beer is 25 cents. Easy to pick up foreign tourist girls. We bought some coke/speed from a tuktuk driver at the end of the road but that was ofcourse ****. I found a pretty lady, thai decent, paid for the first days 25usd, now she wanted to go with me to PP. I said that i would not pay her but she was begging to go with me. She even bought me gifts and start paying stuff for herself so this might get to close. Now the stupid XX did not bring her ID and we are kicked out of the hotel as she looks to young. She is 20 tough but no hotel wants to burn their hands. Damn, will be long night looking for dodgy hotels who do let us in.

Buying coke in Cambodia is extremely risky because more often than not it is actually heroin that you are buying being passed off as coke. Tourists end up pulling a Mia Wallace and overdosing on it frequently. It's extremely dangerous.

Met a girl in Sihanoukville. She claimed she was 20 but looked younger. Danced with her a bit. Asked to see her ID. She said she doesn't have it, her friend has it. In her purse. So I said, ok, see you later. The next day I see the same girl at Dolphin shack. Again I'm ask to see if she has her id, which she gets from her friend. Unfortunately, and K2D can verify, it isn't her. So I ask if she has her real ID. Nope. She makes up an excuse, maybe, I don't remember. Later I ask some girls why this other girl showed me a fake ID, pointing her out. They say she's a liar and underage...I think nothing of it. A minute later these two girls drag out the younger girl from Dolphin and beat her to the ground, lady style (a lot of slapping, especially once she's on the ground). I break it up and the presumably underage girl is crying. I try to comfort her and tell her she'll be allright, just emotional or whatever. The two female assailants, the ones I asked about her age, are furious and screaming at her in Cambodian. Apparently they don't like underage girls stepping on their turf.

I think there's a moral to this story somewhere. Ummm...Always...be...closing...no that's not it. Always...be...checking Ids...yes, A-B-C.

nice little place, the backpackers place is alot cheaper, but the guesthouse is usually for sexpats, as there is a go go area like 2mins from from your place.

Depends how much you go out, if it's only a couple of nights a week then thats more than enough IMO, most people living out there that I asked said you can live well off $1k a month. $1.5-$2k a month and it's a pretty good lifestyle I think.

You can have a very very good life in Cambodia for that money!

Good serviced apartments are everywhere in Thailand, but they are harder to find in Cambodia and may be slightly more expensive compared to what you get. You can easily find a nice place to live for 600 dollars and also less than half of that. But it may not have a huge swimmingpool like in Thailand. Most other things are a bit cheaper. Overall the cost of living is not that different if you want to have a good life. And though a swimmingpool is really nice, its easier to live without here, as its a pleasure to swim in the ocean. At most tourist places in Thailand the public beaches are to be avoided at all cost.

I have lived both places and prefer Cambodia. It's more quiet and more genuine. Not as overrun as Thailand. And its easy to find a beach that is not crowded. Other people prefer Thailand as there are more opportunities. More things to do and easier to buy things you are used to from home. Cambodia is more of an adventure.

But surely both options gives you a lot better lifestyle than living in a western country on 1500 dollars a month
