This has been a fun, rough, really fun and really rough week. High season is definitely kicking in as it seems literally everyone has returned at the same time. I've probably consumed more alcohol in the last seven days then at any other point in my life. And I hate to admit this as it's never happened, but today I woke up hungover; or at least I'm assuming that's what this is. All fun nights but Friday was especially so as many of us met at Renton's bar and closed it out around 3:30 AM. A few pushed on through to Pontoon afterwards but I just couldn't go on. Also it still amazes me that I'll meet players who have been in Cambodia forever that I've somehow never met. There are always a group of internet players who never play live that I'll happen to meet. It's always good when they do come out so I hope they do it again more often. I really have to play more though as I've barely touched my laptop in the last few days. I think Renton told me I had something like $20 in total rakeback last week. Hopefully the grind will pick back up tomorrow.

Skrill to ABA hasn't been viable for awhile (massive exchange fees for usd->euro->usd conversion, and in 2017 my transfers kept failing at the intermediary bank for some reason). Don't think Skrill card has worked in Cambodia for quite some time either, but I've never had it.
Cheers. Was getting raped hard with that skrill stuff.

Wow! You must have great genes. If I drink a 6-pack or more I get a nasty hangover. I'm jealous.

Some dear friends of mine hold an annual event every year, hosting a Christmas dinner which benefits the AOGAAH Foundation who provide free schooling for poor Cambodian children. The dinner is $22 and 100% of the proceeds go to the foundation. The event is on the 25th of December, starting at 7:00 PM at the Pub Restaurant and Skirts Bar on street 174. My friend is the owner of the establishment, is well respected in the community and has hosted this event for years. I'll be there along with Renton and hopefully a few more friends. For those of you who are in Phnom Penh I hope you can make it out for this worthwhile event. Thanks BGP for letting me post this.

What's the fastest way to go from PP to Sihanoukville?
How easy is it to find extacy in PP, planning to party a bit
Living in Cambodia and turning Pro Quote

private taxi is fastest, Giant Ibis bus is fine too but a little slower
Living in Cambodia and turning Pro Quote
12-10-2018 , 02:17 PM
yeah, biggest difference between giant and taxis is that you're free to choose when you want to go,beside of that you don't save a lot of time (around 30 minutes on average the few times i used a taxi)

shouldn't be hard to get extacy in pp,but wouldn't buy any pills from random people (tuk tuk driver, etc),best try is to connect a little bit with the live poker scene and ask around there...

The last Giant Ibis I took was the 12:30pm PP to SHV, it didn't get into SHV until almost 7:30, brutal. It's only 225 km!

If you can swing an early check-in, I think the best way to do it taking a taxi at like 2:00am, sleep in taxi, arrive at 6am.

I’d recommend you taking the mini van ride if you want the full experience.

It's not usually THAT bad but the traffic on the highway getting into SHV was just crawling forever. So many trucks. I think the road in general might be worse this year too. And then traffic getting out of PP usually sucks too.

The road is ok for the most part, nothing like some other 3W tracks, but it's just one lane each way which is wholly insufficient for the amount of traffic it gets. Yep, you will be mostly stuck behind trucks or other slow traffic for the whole journey and if you come across some breakdown or accident be prepared to wait like forever.

The best time to go to KPS is either early morning or after 10pm, and it takes around 2.5-3 hours. I have a good experience with Taxi90

For anyone interested we are going to have a free turkey buffet on the 24th at Poker Ace. Everyone is welcome to join, but please RSVP to the event so we can have an idea of numbers.

We will be running games like 1/3 Holdem, 2/5 Omaha, and 5/5 Holdem throughout the holidays. Poker brings us all together, so if you don't have family, your missing home or just want a nice meal we hope to see some guys from the community.

Just so there is no confusion, I work with Poker Ace.

This.

Either really late or really early, that way you avoid everything. If you try to leave during sunlight hours, they'd always something you're going to run into; rush hour, factory workers, the trucks, etc. I used to personally prefer going post 9:00 PM or wake up early and go around 5:00 AM.

Hey all, there didn't seem to be a whole of interest in the christmas eve buffet so we decided to just stick to the regular menu. We will still be open during the holidays, and the bongs haven't been slowing down. If you don't have plans, come say hello!

Merry Christmas everyone. I just wanted to remind everyone that some dear friends of mine are holding their Christmas dinner benefit tomorrow night (Dec. 25th) at 7:00 PM at the Pub and Skirts Bar on street 174. Each plate is $22 and 100% of the proceeds go to the AOGAAH Foundation who provide free schooling for underpriviliged Cambodian children. They have been doing this benefit for years and have a stellar reputation in the community. Renton and I will be there along with a few other players so if you have no plans for Christmas dinner and/or would like to give back a bit, please do join us. If anyone needs directions, please feel free to PM me.

I really want to thank everyone who came out to the charity dinner at the Pub on Christmas night. The owner told me he was able to raise nearly $1.1K for the AOGAAH foundation to continue free schooling for underprivileged children. We went out to Renton's bar afterwards and then to Sorya to drink with some friends until about 5:00 AM.

I've been in Kampot the last few days for a much needed break. This is where I came for a holiday after working in Sihanoukville and I really do like the town as it provides a nice change of pace. There are a few surprising things about this town, one being that there is no shortage of good food here. Simon's is a great Indian restaurant and I might have possibly had the best burger I've ever had in Cambodia at a place called the Laundry Cafe. And today I found Korean fried chicken at a Canadian comfort food joint of all places called Hurricane Brewski. There are more hostess bars popping up, but nothing compared to Phnom Penh obviously. Speaking of Girly bars, it really is a small world as the guys who run the Girly bar Facebook group in Phnom Penh were also taking a holiday here and staying in the same hotel. We went out for a lot of drinks last night along with some other friends that I know from Sihanoukville who are now refugees here in Kampot.

But perhaps the most surprising thing was the one poker game here called the Kampot Poker Club. They run a small $0.25-$0.50 game and one might not think much of it at first, but it's probably the most action I've seen in a holdem game in a while. There's nothing free but the rake is reasonable and sort of keeps everyone around and free to play pretty loose. They get two tables going on most days it seems and when I left last night there was about $2K on the table. During my session one player opened, another player 3-bet and I 4-bet to $36. The original opener flat called leaving only $13 behind and then check folded the flop. I can't imagine it's like that every day but it was a pretty good game while I was here.

It's my last night so I'll be back in Phnom Penh tomorrow. I enjoyed my time here but I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter and getting back to the daily grind.

There's a lot of good veggie food in Kampot too if that's of interest. I'm not veggie myself but it made for some really nice breakfasts.

All that bitching and complaining I did about Camodia, although it was more specific to phnom pehn. I'm in siem reap on another visa run and to celebrate new years on pub street which I actually love more than Bourbon street, NO, or walking street Pattaya. City has filled up and rooms have become hard to get. I mean it's jampacked here.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Hardly a recommendation, Bourbon Street absolutely blows.

What do you like so much about Pub Street/Siem Reap? I'm here now, too, and it's OK, but there's not really anything that's making me want to stay here. I really want to like it more, but for some reason I just don't.

Pub Street and all the streets around it were crazy packed last night. I went into the throngs of it for the midnight countdown and then watched the mass exodus that happened right after. It's cool to see, but I tend to find that type of thing more claustrophobic than enjoyable.
