A friend and I had an interesting conversation the other day. He said that there are those you come across in life that you just know arr total c*nts, upon first contact. You don't have to ever meet them again or know anything about them, but you just know they're complete douchebags. We had a good laugh about this as we came up with our own examples and turns out that we had some names in common.

Then there are the complete opposites like my friend Oliver (AKA bilesy), who I call friend because we text fairly regularly and we have things such as poker in common of course. But it just dawned me the other day that we actually haven't met face to face all that much. We've mostly talked on text or here in this thread as he does post here from time to time. But still I just know that he's a cool guy.

So I guess it's appropriate to say that he deserves his recent turn of good fortune as he was one of two winners for the Pokerstars Vlogger In Paradise competition. Well, I shouldn't say good fortune as he really worked hard on it. And as a cool guy he gave me a shout out in his latest vlog about playing poker in Cambodia. Thanks man!

Sorry BGP, I swear I never told him I "run" this thread.

Hey guys, a couple of questions I'd appreciate some input on:

I've seen articles about the need for prescriptions not really being enforced by pharmacies in cambodia, but the articles are a couple of years old, is this still the case? If so, does anyone know if you can get ritalin/concerta (or other adhd medication but preferrably one of these) in cambodia? I know adhd meds aren't common outside of western countries but I'd also be surprised if there is none at all with all the westerners moving east.

Also, I'm likely moving to cambodia after new years, what vaccinations would you recommend i get? I'm basically planning on just getting everything recommended which is;
- Hep A&B vaccine
- typhoid fever vaccine
- japanese encephalitis vaccine
- tuberculosis vaccine
- rabies vaccine

Are any of these redundant?

And what should I do about insurance (in particular health insurance). Should I look into getting a probably extremely expensive insurance from my home country or are there good alternatives locally?

I actually bought one Ritalin to try it out here a few days ago at the pharmacy I mentioned earlier. Was 10mg Novartis Ritalina for $3.50 (one tablet). I did not ask about Concerta, but they did not offer it to me. They do not stock generic methylphenidate, nor any form of Adderall. Hope that helps.

I will leave your other questions to more knowledgeable folks.

I'll be in Phnom Penh for the nights of Monday and Tuesday 5th and 6th November if anyone wants to grab a beer and potentially get up to some shenanigans.

Np, it's official now.

That was a great video, really enjoyed it. He is very charismatic and good with a camera, it's no wonder he won.

If you plan on staying long than two months then get a Ordinary Visa, not a tourist one. You get one month, then three more on extension. Extending beyond that you need to get the right documents - work permit & letter of employment which can be done by having a job obviously or paying an extra like $100 on top of extension fee... Speak with PT. He was offering longer extensions up to a year w/ the documents ITT. I also heard of a couple of travel agents following suit now also, it's just about finding & talking with the right people. Alternatively you can do a border run to get the four months again.

Pretty sure that's a once per passport only thing now. After the first 4 month visa, they'll ask for the "work permit" fee even for a 3 month extension.

I did back to back border runs with no problems (at least on the Cambo side) and wasn't asked for that fee but this was going back three months now. Maybe they became more strict or it could be like Thailand in that some immigration officers are stricter than others. I also had a Khmer speaking agent with me which may have helped, who knows.

I won't be making any trip again anyway as I have too many visa exemption stamps via land border for Thailand this year and went over the allowed amount, so I'd have to get a Thai Visa, fly there or go to another border for a different country, all of which would end up probably costing more than just paying for the documents needed (which wasn't offered before).

I got questioned by both in & out on the Thai side but I didn't know whether to tell them I'm just doing a border run as I thought they could see it as abuse of the system and reject me coming in or they could have understood and let me be on my way? I had no idea about that. In the end I told them I was staying for one night at the border town to collect something from a friend.

Make an excuse to pay for something in front of her. Get your wallet out and make sure you have only $100 bills in there and that she sees it.

Any travel agent will do it for you, just go a few days before it expires.
