I have it on word from an extremely trusted source.

Oriental was 2/5/10 was using a rfid system for the last 5-6 weeks. Someone caught them and then blackmailed them for 40k. They agreed to pay and then didn't. And there is a video going around with one of the chinese being arrested from the Gobo hotel.

The Chinese circles have been talking about it since then, but as always leaving the foreigners in the dark.

Out right cheating? Well if you count collusion as cheating then I have several experiences at Naga with it.

I had a couple of guys openly approach me in a bar about colluding at Naga, of which I turned down obviously, they are good friends of mine so would never out them and their logic was that it goes on all the time at Naga which I'd have to agree with. In another instance a guy I'd known for a while bizarrely pulled me aside at the table and suggested we come to an agreement where we soft play against each other, it was said so loud that the table must have heard... I'm not sure he or others understand how serious collusion is. Again I told him that it's not allowed and it's not in the spirit of the game, but he still soft played against me... got into a cooler spot where I bombed into him three streets and he flatted the nuts OTR vs me and said "see, you could have gone broke". Strangely no one pulled him up on it.

I also played a week straight there and there was a nitty couple playing there always at same table and if one got moved the other would stop playing until they could move also an they didn't play a hand against each other post flop in the whole week.

seems strange to me that all the chinese are still playing there,as i said the boss of the 2/5/10 game opened another 1/2/4 game yesterday,he played there also and with him at least 4 other chinese who all don't play 2/5/10,but still very well connected in the shv poker scene,so they all should know about the rfid scam..

can't imagine westerners playing with a guy who got caught scamming with rfid cards just a few days ago, same should go for chinese players..

edit:

heard the story now from another player, but he was talking about a game in the gobo vip room, which has nothing to do with oriental..

That would make more sense as the purported video is supposedly of someone getting arrested at Gobo East and not the Oriental Pearl. I imagine if such a video does exist it's making its way around the various WeChat groups among the Chinese. But until we see it, everyone should probably be careful about such a thing. Accusations of cheating is a stink nearly impossible to wash off for a poker room. That having been said, it is still somewhat of a cautionary tale as rfid cards are not difficult to obtain.

How did the deck enter play? Was management in on it or just a dealer?

I'm still confused, who actually can read the cards? Who relays this info the people connected with the house/dealer?

Likely the management, there is no oversight by the casinos of the poker games. They rent the room and the renters generally bring in the table, dealers, cards ect.

This is a more simple invisible ink / barcode system, but think like this with rfid. It essentially will tell the player via earpiece who will be the winner of the hand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5g8wDCPH9Y

Re: Living in Cambodia and turning Pro

Damn, I guess I'm naive but I had no idea stuff like this existed. And especially with no oversight in Cambodia it doesn't seem all that surprising now that it happened.

Poker aside, I'm still waiting for one of these casinos to get robbed by a bunch of pros given how lax the security regulations are. The Oceans 11 guys would take the Oriental Pearl with about 10 minutes of advance planning lol.

It's one thing to rob a company that exists in a nation of laws. Quite another to rob a bunch of Chinese triads who will spare no expense to have you and your whole family killed. I doubt the Ocean's 11 guys would have gone after the 70s-era Vegas casinos.

Renton doesn't post much in here, but he certainly makes it count.

Re: Living in Cambodia and turning Pro

Lina: management being in on it is far scarier than someone bribing a dealer imo.

Cardshark: there was an old thread in (i think) nvg about someone purchasing one of the first decks. It was really expensive, shady , and probably not very effective for a number of reasons. If the price has gone down a lot it could be pretty bad though.

Renton: idk. Assuming you are able to get out of asia (which would be an integral part of the plan) i would rather deal with the triads over steve wynn.
