I would only play at Naga if I liked to waste my time. The dealers are horribly slow, like refilling the dealer chip rake will easily take a few minutes. The cashiers are extremely slow, they have to verify the amount 3-4 times with the eye in the sky.

Also the 2-5 games are full of tight Chinese players.

The new manager was the only good thing about the Naga place.

Naga is on the upswing though, if you compare it to last year it's night and day. They have a new team of proper poker only dealers coming in soon that will likely make everything much more smooth too.

They must be on the upswing if they have 2/5+ going regulalry. When I was playing there (not been in town for 4+ months) they only had a 2/5 twice, once because the RK/pokerace mike/manager (not pt) was there and drove the action, the other time it was some chinese huge whales.
Everything omahakid said about dealers/cashiers is true, but you learn to live with it. Happypizza helps

I saw some pictures of Snooky a few weeks ago where everything was flooded and all the roads were awful. Is it still rainy season down there or are things starting to get better yet?

I left Snooky a few days ago but it was OK then. I was there for a month and if it had any kind of downpour for a few hours then it was pretty much a write off (In Otres Village).

Just left, it's worse than ever. The rain + all of the construction and the heavy trucks that come with it have resulted in the wholesale dismantlement of what little infrastructure there was. The roads are worse than ever, the electricity, water, and internet (including 4g) are all touch and go. Hopefully it gets better once the rain slows down.

I think I'll leave PP in a few days and will have a couple of weeks to visit the rest of Cambodia. Is Snook worth visiting, especially given the weather? Was thinking to head to Kampot and then work my way round, ending in Siem Reap.

Only go to Snooky if you want to grind. Nothing else there really and by the sounds of Renton's post it might be worth skipping due to the rain! Siem Reap definitely worth a visit.

There is a rumor about rfid cheating at one of sihanouk casinos and a video being shared of someone being arrested from gobo hotel. I am not sure which poker room is involved yet, but will update when I know more. Be careful down there.

Renton: Thanks, sounds pretty bad, I'll hold off for a little while longer

WJ: You gotta go through snooky if you're going out to the islands, which should be on any multi-week itinerary of Cambodia.

Lina: Very interesting. I don't know anything about RFID cheating. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I would recommend Kep, a charming seaside little town. If you are looking to do some non-degen stuff, that is.

It's basically a chip in the cards that relates through a reader on the table the identity of the card. It was originally meant to replace hole card cams on poker broadcasts.

- Thanks.
As someone stated khmer24.com is a good place to start. There are individual sellers but most of the ads are actually smaller stores where you might be able to find a better price.

If you're not going to degen on the Riverside then Russian Market area is perfect. Otherwise I'd agree with Sam about BKK 2/3.

If you go to central market and turn onto Street 128 (Kampuchea Krom Blvd) there are these sort of places scattered on either side of the early part of the street. I'd recommend BCS Computer, the lady owner is fair - my old laptop was a mess, so I picked out one from the shop and she gave me a $100 discount on it in exchange for keeping the working parts from my old one, which weren't high end by any means. Also got a reasonably priced monitor from somewhere else on that street, but as I say there must be 20 different computer shops on that road to choose from though they are all considerably smaller than PTC.

I haven't posted in a while because the wife has had the entire family over our house for the past few days during the holiday. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Khmer is a very loud and angry sounding language. Get six of them under the same roof and it's a literal madhouse. My baby can't get any sleep and I haven't put in much volume online lately. My personal theory is that my wife yells at her mother so much now for the lack of sleep when she was a baby due to all the yelling. In other words, it's a vicious cycle. The ones in her family I understand the least are her sisters' husbands. None of them work while they come over here and mooch off of me and their wives go to the bars and get pile drived nightly by hideous C.H.U.D.'s like me.

Speaking of work, that's been going very well as we've picked up some new players in the last few weeks and even had some old ones deposit again. A smaller club just agreed to a union with ours so that should make the games better as well. What makes our task a bit different from everyone else's in running this club is that Renton and I are trying to do this without any sub-agents. Anyone who has ever worked within this type of platform before can tell you what can happen when you use a wide net of sub-agents and trust an ever growing list of people to hold player's money. For our part we know every player that's been signed up under the Cambodian umbrella. Sure it would be great if we could have 70 tables running and perhaps our ceiling is a bit lower. But I prefer this over getting a text one day from a player I've never heard of before asking me where his money is.

It hasn't been all work as having the whole family over has won me a certain amount of brownie points. There are a bunch of friends and players in town right now so we've hit the town a bit, even with the slow down during the holiday. I'm still being a good boy, although I will go to a particular bar on 136 to see a girl that Renton refers to as my "goomah." I've also been at Renton's bar quite a bit lately as he has a new lesbian girl working there and there's just something about a girl you know you're not going to take home, especially when you're trying to be good. But I told Renton that I don't think this girl is a lesbian at all, but probably just never been touched correctly as Khmer men couldn't satisfy a woman if their lives depended on it.

A lot of restaurants have been closed lately so I keep going to this Japanese spot in BKK1 or having meals at my friend's hotel. He's staying in a lovely place called the Harmony Hotel on street 148, right by the Riverside. Turns out there are bars down there too and the talent isn't bad at all. But being where it is, they get no foot traffic and they're quite dead. Still a good place to try if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of 136.

Just as I was finishing up this post my wife came into the bedroom and showed me what they're all having for dinner, giant snails! So I'll guess I'll be eating out tonight. I'll probably be at Paddy Rice around 9:00 PM if anyone wants to join.

As I stated in a previous post, I've earned some brownie points. So we headed out again tonight, staying basically on street 136. Hit up about four bars and almost didn't make it out of one. Took every ounce of will in my body not to bar fine the one on the left.

Just an FYI. I have a friend visiting from Sihanoukville and he reports that the games down there have been good of late. Another buddy who just left reported the same on his Facebook page. So perhaps things are picking back up

What options are there for playing in Sihanoukville? I doubt I'll stop there long but I might as well play as I pass through.

Soft play and collusion are the main culprits here.

However, as seen with Oriental Pearl's downstairs 2/5/10 game being caught using rfid card to cheat everyone must be vigilant.

2/5/10 is still running every day in oriental and still has same boss like one year before, he even opened another 1/2/4 gametoday in the same building (golden pearl)

Damn, I nearly hopped in that game last month as it looked super juicy. How did you find this out?

There's a consistent 1/1 and 1/2 at Oriental Pearl and a 2/5 that runs at a place called Rain Bow Kop (I think). The 1/2 plays super deep late at night and ends up being more like a 2/5.
