sorry to be such a fish,

but when you say "near Pontoon club" will I just be able to find it by standing near the Pontoon club?

Not sure if the pic works as Im posting from my phone, but as you leave Pontoon from the main entrance just turn left, walk maybe 2 minutes and then you should see Riverking 1 Pub on your right... If you stand outside Shanghai Bar on the corner then you should be able to see Riverking

Just an insanely great lunch in what I reckon is the best restaurant in Cambodia, let alone just Sihanoukville. Took my friend DaveDavidson down to the Secret Garden in Otres, where he seemed to enjoy his lunch as well as he was stoned out of his mind. Off to the poker room for some OFC before the game starts. I'm just murdering pops and Renton lately.

Haha, I know that one... been saying it for years.

I've lived an unbelivably unhealthy lifestyle out here for 3 and a half years.. it's amazing the punishment the body can take, with the attitude that I wouldn't want to live anywhere close to 50-60 anyway so FK it but once you have kids it does change your attitude somewhat - like I feel the way I live I could drop down dead tomorrow, it's not unheard of here and my daughter not having a dad growing up feels horrible, I want to eat healthier/cut down on drinking/med abusing but it really is quite difficult for someone like me to do so... I wouldn't/couldn't want to eat out every day, twice a day; I can't cook for love nor money and the cheaper $1-2 khmer rice/noodle places are just pretty intimidating if you are on your own with no english speaker and khmer only menus, it's one of the downsides of being single. Add to that financial stresses and mild depression where you can only really self medicate and it seems near impossible to live an ideal lifestyle for me.

I also feel like Cambodia has to be one of the hardest places to live a truly healthy balanced lifestyle with so many distractions to 'fall off the wagon' so to speak, people who manage ite here deserve credit for sure, though I could count the ones I know on one hand.

I can offer some advice on this subject. The way I maintain a healthy lifestyle is by eating a lot of $1 noodles with the mystery meat mixed in. Then I go exercise by getting a $5 hooker and don't use rubbers because I care about the environment. I finish my day by taking some my vitamins and to save money, I find a needle thats laying in the streets. It's a good routine and I think i'm the healthiest I have ever been.

Agreed about the living a balanced lifestyle in Cambo. I think the proper motivation to get healthy is having a highish stakes non-drinking/drugs prop bet. Strong financial incentives are really the best motivation for poker players.

Just for anyone interested in Naga World Casino besides Poker. Went and played some BJ tonight, my 4th or 5th time. It is 100% that girls will surround you and start rubbing your leg asking for $2.50 chips or $5 chips. I'm used to it by now, I just tell them to **** off. But, I decided to take a break this time and smoke a cig at a slot machine. I was sitting there 2 minutes before they told me I had to get up or play. Craziness. I'm betting $25 a hand on BJ and then I can't take a simple smoke break to get away from all the girls. I knew it was coming though when I literally had 5 employees standing behind me. Must be nice to have a monopoly on PP for casinos.

I've been following the thread, but haven't seen this questioned asked, at least not recently. My question is about bringing enough money to Cambodia to play the live plo games. I don't plan on opening any bank accounts in Asia, but I would like to bring enough money to play plo in Cambo. I'm concerned with both bringing money in, as well as safely keeping it while I'm there. American btw.

Is there a good way to get a lot of money into the country, outside of just having cash on me?

Is it easy to get a box at the casinos in Sihanoukville and Phnon Phen? If not, how can I safely keep a bunch of cash while in the country? Withdraws shouldn't be a problem, but if I win, I want a safe place to put my money.

Do not bring more than 10k in cash with you, $9,999 or less. If you have more, then your risking trouble with customs. You can withdraw $1,000 at some atm's. for a $15 fee. RiverKing Pub 1 allows you to store cash in the cage and that has worked great for me and many people do it. The PLO games at RK1 are pretty wild, plenty of rich guys just looking to have fun. All you here from the PLO tables are guys yelling "POT" and "Gamble" haha. The 5/5 is the best game, but can easily turn into a 5/5/10/20 game.

You can also bring more cash, you just need to declare it. You should maybe/probably do that bcos of your home airport, for PP airport, unless you look funny or something, it's likely not even worth the hassle. They never look like they would be in the mood to do some actual work, and I have never seen them search someone. Just fill out the customs form and that's it. Worst case they send your baggage through some scanner they have there, I think that's just a metal detector screening for guns. I have never brought more than 10k but for the big games that's not a bad idea. I have several k on me always when I go there though, last trip I got close to 10k bcos of all my winnings, and never got into trouble in any hotel, or with any girl or whatever.
Maybe ask RK1 if you can wire/BTC or something money there, but it will likely be much more expensive than bringing cash

The key is getting through your home country's airport as once you land here in Cambodia the security is fairly lax. The last time I flew out of Los Angeles to Phnom Penh I had everything scanned and had no issues. I put a significant amount into a waist band that I stuck in my laptop bag. Other than taking out my laptop they did not require that I empty my bag and everything passed through. Another option might be to Western Union money to yourself. I used the transfer from bank account option and while it took one week, it cost me very little. Good luck.

Some friends and I left the poker room a bit early last night to check out the New Square. There are only three bars at the moment but I was fairly impressed. The bars are clean and while the girls were a bit scarce, the ones they had were young and plenty attractive. It's on the second floor of the plaza it's in and there is already talk that the entire first floor will be dedicated for more bars. I'm sure more girls will come as the location develops. I didn't get much in the way of footage but should be able to soon enough.

Is anyone able to say something about the action in the old RK right now?
Is it worth a visit or should i prefer the new RK1?

The old Riverking has closed and moved to a different location under a new name. They are now called Poker Ace and had their opening a few days ago. It didn't look as if it went off that well but a friend told me they had two tables running at one point. I think RK1 still gets three tables a day, although I've heard their promos have slowed down a bit (don't quote me on that). Naga is apparently getting up to four tables with the old Riverking owner driving the action at 5-10 when he's in town. I'm sure I've missed a few things as I'm not in town as much these days.

Hey Guys,

this is just an impartial review of my poker adventures in PP so far:

First day i went to the River King 1 Pub on a Sunday afternoon.
They had 1 full table Omaha 2/5 and no NLH Game.
The Owner (V) was pretty nice and explained all the Promos and offered free food and drinks while waiting for a new NLH Game to start.

After 30 minutes of waiting, i left the Room and took a Taxi to the "old" RK, called Poker Ace nowadays.
The Manager (i dont wanna tell his name) picked me up in front of the new Location, and showed me the Entrance, the room itself and the Promos.
He is one of the nicest guys ive ever met in the Poker-Business so far tbh.

Ive played a 3-hour session NLH that night, was up a decent amount and had so much fun with all these drunk Chinese players.
I saw a few guys saying earlier this thread, Poker in PP is dead, i can not confirm that.
These chinese guys were lit. punting away their stacks every 2nd orbit.

Drinks and Food are free, the food is pretty pretty good and the drinks have a decent amount of alcohol in it ;-)

They have good Promos imo and miniumum 2 tables running during the day.
Its weird to say, but this place feels better to me, then most of the casinos ive been all over the globe.
(No, i am not working for them^^)

Tonight i was in the Naga-Casino as well - I had all these stories about bad Dealers and Rake in the back of my head.

Anyways, yes, Dealer are pretty bad, make mistakes all the time,
yes, Cashier-Guys are super rude to the customers and yes,
the place is a bit ****ed up and too crowded BUT the games here are super soft imo as well.
Sure the rake is pretty high, but i guess you can manage to win enough BBs to compensate that point. I will keep you guys updated about that point the next few days.

I've played a 4-hour Session 2/5 NLH, 6/9 players were 1.5-2k deep and were burning their stacks down withing minutes.

Next to all these Korean / Chinese guys on my table, i saw a bunch western-Guys playing on the other tables, while their gfs were waiting next to them.
I guess most of them are funplayers / tourists too.

Btw, Floorman is "okay" imo.

Sure, maybe PP is not the paradise to play poker, but games are def. NOT dead.

Hope i could help with that post.

Cheers

I think they hold him back if anything. I'm sure there's more he would do to change the room if he could. Considering all that he has to deal with he does a real good job. I'll probably check out Naga then this week when I'm up for a visit. I've been playing a lot of OFC lately so maybe I'll drop by the Red Fox as well.
