Sorry for the lack of updates but I've been in the room basically from opening until closing everyday. We weren't that busy the first couple of days but we've still managed to spread at least one table every day. We're literally having to start all over with no branding. What we do have is a really nice space with a fraction of the rent that everyone else pays. Considering what everyone else pays, it's no wonder that some of the rake I've seen lately is completely ridiculous; $25 caps on $1-$3 games and $40 on $2-5 games.
We're running very small right now as it's mostly $1-$1 and some $1-$2. But like I said I'm ecstatic that we've managed to not be dark since we opened under the new ownership. We're starting to build some real momentum and developed a nice base of regulars. Our idea of running the room as a cooperative is gaining traction as well as the owner has sold off 10% already and we continue to meet with other players about their possible involvement.
The housing situation here has become difficult but I managed to find a studio for $280 per month. One of the poker players let me take over the room when he left, but of course I'll have to find a bigger spot once my girlfriend moves down here. Haven't done much in the way of nightlife lately as I've been in the poker room most of the time. I've still managed to get to the Square here and there as our new owner owns a bar there. We had a really good night tonight so about to go home at 6:00 AM and leave my dealer, partner and one of the new 5% shareholders as they continue to play OFC.
