The last few nights the games have been very tight as well, as you say I would say it's next to impossible to make a living at Naga alone.
The Holdem game goes a bit longer than that and we have two tables nearly afternoon. It's one of those things that if there are people to play it then it goes longer. So feel free to drop by anytime; I swear no one is going to force you to play Omaha.

Most likely looking to move back to either europe or latinamerica in march/april latest order to be able to grind SCOOP without being in vampire mode.

Any MTTers there already? Anyone seeking for a flatmate? Any things that i need to consider? How bad are those 150$/month Guesthouse private rooms listed on booking.com ? Obv not planning to live the whole time in one of these but i actually considered booking one for first 2-4 weeks to have a base from where i can look for a better option. Are there any special things a 31 yrs old dude from germany who is not unfamilar with 2-3rd world lifestyle but no asia-experience has to consider?
If you're going to stay that long I would suggest just getting an apartment. My last place was a studio, but was just $150 per month. My only advice would be to go around with someone who's already been here when first going out to eat or anything that involves money. You want to be confident in what is a reasonable baseline of prices to help you settle in.

I woke up a bit early and decided to explore my new neighborhood a bit, although it's really the same neighborhood. I decided to eat as the Riverking kitchen isn't open for another hour or so. So I ended up having some pork and rice and taking away some chicken and rice porridge, all for $2. There are plenty of things to be had on the cheap here, just one example.

Oh and I should mention, today marks the triumphant return of NutStewie.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me or Sam. In either case it's funny that of the three floors at Riverking, I'm the only one who doesn't play Omaha. This is including the new guy who seems mesmerized by it lol.

It depends. If it was just me I could probably make an honest effort to keep the utilities down to under $100. But as I'm living with other people I'm anticipating about the amount you stated, $150.

We made a few tweaks to the tourney this past Sunday and tried my best to get the word out. Thanks to a friend who really helped in letting others know about some changes we had a bigger turnout than I anticipated. During low season we've typically been getting just one table. But this time around we nearly had two full tables and a decent prize pool. We flattened out the blinds a bit so that they don't jump as much, made the rounds after the add-on longer and lessened the amounts of the add-on and double add-on. Not everyone was a fan of the last change, but making a double add-on $10K was a bit too large I thought and basically made the first five levels obsolete. In either case I'm always trying to improve things and if anyone has a suggestion I'll at least listen to them.

PT,
You ever think of running satellite packages for some regional APT/PS events?

Not 100% sure if i am going to stay that long. If i happen to hate that place for whatever reason iīll probably leave asap. Did you rent that 150$/mth studio through one of those sites mentioned in the thread?( elephant etc.)

I had my mind made up, was going to go to Sooky next trip, talk to a friend and told him and he is selling me on the Philippines again, thought I had made up my mind now all confused. He is also trying to talk me into moving there, play poker most of my free time and open a small pizza shop again, I think he thinks he is in my will and I will work myself to death.

Where in the Philippines?
Manila and snooky seem like such different ends of the spectrum but I have to believe that since food is so bad in general in the PI that a restaurant venture at the right location could be profitable.

Don't open a pizza shop in snooky, that would be my advice

People said the same thing when I did it in Florida, 3 chains fail before I moved in and 11 years later I sold it

The Philippines has to be a pretty good place to open a restaurant. I'm sure Makati has it's fair share of good places but there must be a ton of good locations in manila to exploit.
Only drawback is that you have to live in manila.

Can anyone in snooky trade a small amount of $ for stars?

Skrill processed my withdrawal and last week and just returned it to my acc -$20 fee, removed my bank acc stating that the info was incorrect and now won't do wire transfers in usd. Before they just charged a fee to switch to euros. What's the best withdrawal method now? Do i need to change my account to euros?

kev-in Thailand just made a youtube blog about the casinos and poker in Phnom Penh. He claims that there is no more poker in Phnom Penh, I left him a commnet that his information is wrong and he went with a closed mind and was going to give it a bad review no matter what. Watch it and leave him a comment, this is all we have till Mike starts his channel up. lol

Holy **** that guy is annoying to listen to.
I couldn't watch it from beginning to end and skipped along but from what I could bear, it sounded like he was only talking about poipet and not phnom Penh.

Tbf he is in Poipet, not Phnom Penh. Your comment can't hurt though.

I agree his voice is as bad as finger on a chalk board, it is a English white trash voice. I couldn't watch it all either.

Everyone I know has been able to withdraw from their home bank accounts here. There is usually a fee involved though and some institutions may limit what you can take out in a 24 hour period. I would bring as much cash is as allowed and also talk to your bank before coming over.

I recently came back from my holiday in Sihanoukville and while many things have changed, I admit that there are elements of the city that I missed. More than anything else I missed riding my moto down to Otres Beach, something I managed to do a couple of times. Poker wise, a lot has changed in the city as well. While there are now more games in town, the Koreans are nearly all gone and the Chinese completely dominate the scene. I managed to visit three rooms while in town and after I visited each one I texted back to my friend and boss that the poker scene was like the wild west in that anything goes. I sat in one of the games and saw a situation in which one Chinese player had $60 in front of him. He was heads up with his opponent who pushed all-in for about $200. As the player tanked, another Chinese player passed him about $140 in chips and told him to call, which he did. A few hands later the exact same thing happened except this time the one who pushed the chips to his friend was the operator of the room. This is all in keeping with reports that I had been getting from friends who still live down there. It is almost as if they play as a block and if they don't get their way, they literally all get up in unison and leave the game. The floors are not able or unwilling to say anything since it means the loss of a game for the night, and perhaps even permanently. One friend came up to Phnom Penh a couple of weeks ago to get a break from all this, another told me he hasn't played in a few weeks and another friend just gave up on the town altogether and moved elsewhere. The games may be better than they were before, but I don't see how this situation is tenable until the town gets enough expat players to balance the power a bit. As for the current expats who still play, I commend one casino for still trying to make room for them during the afternoon games but they are basically being driven from both the poker scene and the town in general. Still, it was great catching up with old friends and getting drunk with them and other "friends" at the Square.
