when i was studying up on PI i gave far greater weight to the opinions of people on this forum than i did the other forums cuz i knew my life would be much closer to theirs

for $5 they re-cleaned and redressed the wound, not the type of place i would want to go to for anything small or medium, but this gash was pretty nasty and needed to be covered right, wish i woulda showered first though cuz cant really hop in a shower and not get any water on your legs

so i guess since i had just walked past there and was used to that and it was dark i assumed that where the floor went out this time it was concrete again and not water

most convenient hotel and best place to get face to face info on the place = charlie harpers, definitely the best place for grinding because they use the generator right as it goes out

good clean hotel but noisy till 2 am because next to karaoke bar (and request room on right side of the hall) = liming guest house (very close to charlies)

lots of bungalows by the beach for $5 but no wifi in the rooms

cheap place to stay and big rooms but down a bit of a sketchy street = rainbow guest house

good jumping off point for either barhopping or looking for a place near the beach= monkey republic (all rooms fan no aircon so doubt youll wanna stay there but tell a moto to take you there and begin your search)

last night made MAJOR travel noob mistake #2

had a bit of a headache, this always has me off my game, go to a place to get my id scanned for stars and while im at it been told to photocopy passport and keep in pocket, so i get the id scanned and returned and then give passport to get copied (who can guess where this is going?) then a guy comes over and starts having a lil chat about weather and america and what not

so anyways get the copy of my passport, head out the door, go down to charlies to get burger and play in the poker tournament, notice what i just left out?? never got the passport back!!!!! holy hell

realized it at 11pm when i got home last night, went there first thing this morning and it was still in the scanner

so thats strike 2, what happens after strike 3 again?

what would i have to do if i dont have passport but have id and copy of it? just go to an embassy and get a new one? be costly?

so as for the game at charlies...... its a fun lil home game, $11 buy in with a rebuy once your below 3k (so post the big blind or limp first hand and can get 5950) pretty solid structure at first surprisingly and 25 minute levels, honestly better structure than a lot of $100 tourneys in vegas, dealer is quite good runs the game well (and with this groupa characters its not easy believe that), cant get hands out to fast because lots of fans so has to keep finger on card while dealing and cant just pitch em or they flip

no one did the insta rebuy, i had headache as mentioned so i just went with 1 buy in, there was 1 kid who really knew what he was doing, another guy who was playing well but then did some weird stuff, another kid who i think is a good player but was splashing around a lot, hard to tell how seriously people are taking a $11 tourney, though over here thats a decent amount of money (not kidding)

then there were a couple of older guys who were just there to splash around and have fun, and 1 of the girls from the bar played which was pretty lol

was told to go to FORTUNA CASINO for the cash games, i checked the wrong one the first night, its a 1-2 game with $100 minimum buy in and the dealer told me rake is only 2.5% uncapped, i mean i believe her and she knows what she is talking about, but that seems extremely low, couple guys said they played there and it used to be great but now its turned into a few locals sitting around waiting for the sucker, but that you get some koreans or chinese businessman that have zero clue at all what to do that buy in for $500 and insta lose it, my guess is that its probably pretty bad right now (rainy season) but come tourist season (novemberish-mayish i believe) you could find some good games

once again everyone ive met at charlies has been very nice, very willing to answer questions, and very helpful in whatever way you need

couple other things, saw a pretty decent sized monitor (i dunno 20 inches maybe) at the place where i left my passport last night, is used but only $65 am gonna buy once i get settled in, new ones that were smaller were about $120 tops but only 17inch or so, (right next to charlie harpers fwiw, and they didnt extort me to get my passport back so give them some business, i am going to)

asked around about the greenery last night, the kid who i thought was the best player (other than myself obv) in the game was supposedly the one to ask, he said he had just got some of the best he had got out here other than a few times where he found what he called really good stuff, i checked it out and it was bleh, what i got looked to be a little better, and he confirmed that 20 was what i was supposed to pay for the amount i got

he did say that its worse right now in rainy season but once this is over its possible to find some thats a lil better, but ya it looks to be shwag or if your lucky you might run into some mids, not really sure whether what i got should be considered mids or shwag yet though will let know when i smoke tomorrow, smells shwag, looks like low end mids, only one real way to find out

went around and asked pretty much every place on the beach/road from that picture that justice posted yesterday and the lowest monthly im hearing is 300, they dont gotta drop the rates like the rest of the places because the tourists still stay there in the rainy season, the places off the beach are really empty now so u can get great deals

Everyone I met seemed to adjust by just smoking incredibly big joints, hard to find good stuff, but if you smoke enough swag it will still do the job.
