I'll be there but I won't be playing the main event, just some side events and cash games as I suck at poker, would probably have more chance by putting $2k at red.

Koh Kong has more to offer then I thought, had someone send my passport to Phnom Penh for tourist visa so stuck here for a few days and considered to just move to Sihanoukville and pick my passport up when I go back.

But discovered a few clubs last night and it was pretty cool, no idea how I found my hotel back as it was morning once again.

Hi, r...u right? it was me then. noticed that too when trying to get rid of my fpps last week. i sit here near independce beach, guess stars technically blocked us for similar ip's. sorry, that i was consistently blocking the tables at that time, wanted to fully finish my job before the storm started as now one has to really play it after winning a sat

Good thing is that we will not bother us usually. I only play cash when hunting milestones currently. GL for the upcoming series at the queenco.

Getting closer and closer to my trip; flying into Phnom Penh on September 13th. I've tried to do as much research as possible. It looks like I'll be staying at Naga for the first week while I look for an apartment. Many have suggested the Russian Market area so that's probably where I'll start my search. And it looks like I'll hit up Online for internet service and Cellcard for my phone. If anyone has any better suggestions, sure would appreciate any info.

If you're playing poker at the naga get a smart sim otherwise it's a bit of a dead zone In there for some reason, was really happy with smart was solid for 6 months 3g packages are cheap, just don't get metphone.

Thanks for the suggestion on Smart. I've been told to use Cellcard but I'll look into Smart as well.

I lived near Russian Market and liked it, but I think most 2p2ers would be more comfortable staying in BKK (in PP that stands for Beung Keng Kang, NOT Bangkok). Hire a tuktuk for a day and explore both areas to see which one is a better fit for you.

I don't know anything about Online. Digi seems to be the dominant residential ISP. Most of the time it was fine for me to grind with, but occasionally it would go out during a heavy rain or something and I would have to switch to my Cellcard backup which worked fine.

You can buy SIM cards at kiosks at the airport right after you go through customs. Get it out of the way there and save yourself a trip later.

You cant go wrong with #9 hotel when you get to PP : at 15$/night and located 1 block away for Naga World, you are dead center of where you want to be! Not to mention that the staff at #9 is pretty amazing and the social hang out spots extend on 3 floors with a small pool.

Russian Market is quite a distance from where the action is.

I read at many places that they charge $15-$20 night.

Wonder why I paid $30/night as my room was nothing special and when I confronted them with it they said it must be old prices or something.

When were you there? It has been 15$ for a single or 25$ for a double for the past few years. Kind of strange that they would hike the prices in low season...

Less then a month ago, maybe I had double. It had a bed where 2 people can sleep in but that's the case in every hotel isn't it?

No, the double rooms are pretty big, often with a fridge and have 2 double beds. The single rooms are quite small, with a bed large enough for 2. That said, the double rooms should be 25$...

I booked it on Agoda in advance before and it might of cost me 18$/night, but once there, you pay 15$/night. They ripped you off, for check out the Agoda prices :

How did you find #9, PokerThai, did a tuktuk driver bring you there on his accord? That would explain the extra fees...

A lot of places in PP will charge you extra if you don't bargain. The hotel I stayed at had a sign saying $35 a night, I paid $20 after 30 seconds of negotiation.

I wanted to play live and if that's the case I'm assuming I need to be close to Nagaworld. Judging by Google Maps, the Russian Market area seems to be less than 3 miles away. I don't drink and I'm not much of a party goer; not quite sure how much "action" I need. Others I've described my personality and lifestyle to seem to think this would be the right area. I suppose I won't know for sure until I get there.

Thanks for the suggestion on Hotel 9. I think the current plan is to stay at Naga for the first 4 days or so. For whatever reason this seems more convenient to me and the price I've been quoted won't break the bank. If my residential search gets prolonged I'll probably move it on down to the 9 for a few days. Then again, perhaps I'm being unrealistic about how long it'll take for me to find a place and I'll need temporary lodgings for longer than I planned.

What can I expect to pay monthly for rent (1 bedroom) in BKK?

Hey guys.. I am currently staying in Thailand, I play 50nl-100nl 6m on stars. I have some questions about possibly moving to Cambodia from Thailand, as the VISA laws are changing here quickly. My first question is, can you get a tourist visa and stay long term as you could in Thailand before? Are there places to stay that offer nightlife similar to Thailand? I do know they have a casino for live poker, I like that idea. Do you think it would be something worth considering, moving to Cambodia, with the future of Thailand's new VISA regulations? I am from the US so moving back home means no poker for now, so out of the question for me. Thanks for any advice!
