do you guys where any mosquito repellant? and do i need to be on the lookout for venomous snakes?
i still dont get happy pizza, ditch green crumbled on top of your pizza shouldnt get you high, and i highly doubt they are actually going through the process of heating butter (or some sort of fat) on the stove and letting it simmer with the green before using that in the pizza
If you were happy in Phil., then wouldn't blame you for going back.
As I said, I've never been to Sihanouk. If you don't look like you have dough (no fancy clothes/watches, etc.) and are aware of your surroundings, I wouldn't guess you would have problems on main roads. The farther off the beaten path and the later at night, the more problems you could encounter, esp. alone. Going to the beach at night sounds like a bad idea, esp. alone (as in, not with a trusted non-Cambo friend). Going anywhere remote alone at night is probably not smart.
I never wore mosquito repellant, the main problem with skeeters was around dusk, had to swat them away left and right. Never saw any snakes, but was only at temples and in countryside a couple/few days.
I had a happy shake I think. Your logic seems right, I doubt it does much. However, if you discreetly ask the head honcho, then they should be happy to provide you with some low quality bananas. If you use them more sparingly (not morning, noon and night), then they may satisfy your cravings a bit. Otherwise, might as well stick to beer.
There's a forum called Khmer440, that seemed to have by far the highest volume and was the best one I found while I was there. Don't post about bananas or anything like that. It's mostly ex-pats in PP, but I'm sure there's some info about Sihanouk too (I know there's stuff about Siem Reap). You might ask about safe/unsafe areas and that sort of thing, or just read the posts.
The plus about Siem Reap is that it caters specifically to tourists, so the safety and language barrier issues are less of a concern (if you stick to the Pub Street area). The minus is it's boring, unless you like eating, drinking and dancing with a bunch of tourists. Also, most of the gringos you meet will be gone within a week, so it's not easy to maintain friends there.
