Looked at snooky on google earth, seems cover quiet an area but not built up at all. This may sound like a cliche but, thats almost how patts and jomtien would of looked 20ish years ago.

Is it easy to buy land there as a forefinger? or the same kinda deal as Thailand?

Much easier in Cambodia for permanent visas and no hassles with work visas, but the laws on buying land are similar to Thailand. Condos only, if you want to buy land you have to do it through a company with Cambodian directors or your wife etc.

Land is very very very expensive though. Lots of rich foreigners had the same idea and prices went up like 100x in the last 15-20 years. Especially russia and the middle east are buying land in Cambodia.

Some of them have money to spend, and like to spend it outside their own country.

I'd like to know the price difference between pattaya and snooky land/condo wise. Pattaya can still find good deals out east and way south of jomtien. Get down to rayong and still very good value for money. Hard to believe it would be more in or around the out skirts of snooky.

poots i cant tell you about land, but i know there are businesses in prime spots that you can buy for $3k-$5k, not directly on the beach but less than a mile away and just off the main strip, ive even had the crazy thought of buying one and living there


ike - wabby covered all your questions, i would just add that if i were you i would stay on "serendipity road" near serendipity/ocheteal beach when you first get here, its the main tourist strip and will be the easiest place to get acclimated, plenty of white people around and because of this all the locals that work there (at least the ones that deal with customers) speak english pretty well

also you can easily find month to month there, it is slightly more expensive (depending on when you come maybe $250-$350 a month) but imo its totally worth it because of the location, right by the beach, nightlife, and good food options all over, plus while it is a bit more expensive you dont have to pay for water or electric or internet (other than backup) and can walk most places you go so wont have to get a motorbike (depending on lifestyle obv) so in the end it really doesnt cost to much more

i know of a nice apt building that you can get 1 room for $150 (not sure about 2 bedroom) but you would need to get a motorbike to live there, post more so that you get the ability to PM me before you head over and ill check and see if they still have rooms open so you can check it out (not sure you would initially wanna hop right in there as its kind of a weird location, hotel/guesthouse by the beach makes for much easier transition)


as far as better spots to live with $1500 a month budget....... i dont have experience other places but i cant imagine there are to many easier spots to live with that budget, i over pay for my room for the location, have a mean wh0ring addiction, and still spend only $900ish a month

i think you would have to make an effort to spend all $1500 a month, if i really wanted to i could easily get by here on $6-700 a month
