So do I. Speaking of old Riverking, I have two of my former dealers coming down here tomorrow to start work. When they arrive I'm going to introduce them to the room manager and just say, "Meet your best dealers."

Just found this web site if you are looking top move over seas to a cheaper country. you can search just about every countries cost of living. It is set up against the American dollar so I didn't look for how to compare against your country. (just call me a lazy American) But it is set up to compare against Cambodia to the US not by state but can do that. So if you live in a cow town you might think it is different the NYC so you your sense

The problem with this is you can't adjust or account for moments of degeneracy, and tbh that's where all my money goes. Like I will eat at a restaurant for $3, and barter with a tuk tuk for $0.50 less but then go on a mad night and spend $150-200. Not everyone is as ******ed as me obv, but something about Cambodia does bring out the degen in people and I'm not the only one, no names mentioned but my partner in crime & fellow former reg 2+2'er being another.

Any other banks in PP that are super lax with this stuff? I got a business visa if that helps.

this is me for sure. I've had a tuktuk driver want to fight me because i refused to pay some tiny amount that i thought was too much...but nights out the money burns a hole in my pocket lol

but even for degens you can go out alot and not spend too much or you can spend ALOT really fast. at least girls are cheaper in cambodia than Thailand, and beers cheaper as well.

I had recently upgraded from the bungalows to a proper hotel room in the same complex. I did enjoy roughing it for a while, but I have to admit the last week of staying in a non A/C room with a shared bathroom sort of got to after a while. And while I did enjoy living near Otres and Otres 2 Beach, the drive into the casino daily was brutal. Luckily I was able to find a place not too far from the casino for only $20 per night. I just checked in and the room covers all the check marks as far as amenities are concerned. There is one additional benefit that I swear was accidental. It turns out that this hotel is right atop the Vietnamese red light district here in Sihanoukville. In fact that hotel used to be the old Don Bosco place, which was a Catholic institution that tried to evangelize to the girls on the street. Thank god the Chinese bought the place and that whole nonsense is over with. A friend of mine just arrived last night and he's staying there as well. If I like the place I think this is where I might put visiting players in the future.

I am now a month in to my play here at the Top-Pot Poker Club at the WM Casino. I told myself at the beginning of all this that I would need to make at least $3,000 per month for this to be worth it as I previously swore off Sihanoukville. The first month has exceeded my expectations and thus I checked into the new place and have decided to stay. By no means am I a crusher and I need certain lineups in order to win. The screenshot of my results that I have included reflect this but with the hourly rakeback I receive on my special deal, my hourly is more than sufficient. Speaking of my deal, I have been told that it will continue but also that I can extend it to whoever I decide to invite. So one friend has already arrived and we both played in a pretty good game last night. He's going to give it a shot here as it's a minimum of $2,100 per month just to play, assuming we're winning players of course. The Chinese boss of the room has been putting in a steady stream of his "associates" into the game. If I can entice a few more players over here myself, I'm hoping that we'll have two good $2-$5 games nightly.

As for my family, I have decided to move them out of Kampot and back to Phnom Penh. I do love Kampot, but since I hardly spent any time there my wife was having a rough time as she did not know anyone. So I had her sign a contract today on a nice 2-bedroom, 2-story place today that's pretty close to her family. This should make life a bit easier for her when I am not there, which unfortunately will be most of the time. So technically speaking, I suppose I will be based out of Phnom Penh again, albeit only a couple of days per week.

Great update as always, and congrats on the results. Will be back in Cambo in about a month and will be checking the place out, hopefully it's still around by then lol. What games are running regularly in the room now a few weeks in?

Great results PT, I wish I could have taken the offer and hope maybe in the near future it would still be on the table.

One thing I'd like to know and have no idea about is what is/how exactly does this insurance thing work? Players discuss an amount to decrease the variance I'm guessing? Does this not slow the game down horribly every time someones all in while this bartering goes in? Personally I hate the idea and think it goes against what pokers all about but then again I'm against even running it twice. I'm guessing the Chinese love the idea though and are very reluctant to lose a whole stack in one hand?

That rakeback is really nice considering it's live.

Good update.

Hey guys, I stumbled across this thread whilst researching Poker in PP. I'll be there next week for a visa run from Thailand.

Looking through this thread, it appears Riverking and Naga are the 2 best venues to play?
I want to play 1-2/1-3 everyday from around 2pm until 10pm (and then onto Street 136), which one would you recommend? I read RiverKing offer free food and drinks, but I'm guessing their rake is higher?

Nagarake is higher (5% up to 20$). The RK is not a simple %, I posted it sometime back in December? ITT., but it's not higher overall. Also at 2pm the likelihood of there being a game at all will be higher at RK, it might break before 10pm though

Don't forget though that RK1 takes the extra $1 bonus.

It's terribly slow and one hand with insurance can take 10 minutes. But the Chinese love it and probably wouldn't play if it wasn't offered.

Yeah that would be great if the room was still around Living in Cambodia and turning Pro. $1-$1, $1-$2, $2-$5 and $5-$10 go regularly.

The $2-$5 game has been utterly fantastic the last few days. A man/woman tandem has been playing here and I swear they play every hand and the woman bluffs every river. This week hasn't been going so great for me but I finally broke through a bit last night with a $600 win. The friend I have down here on the rakeback deal absolutely crushed it and even stacked me in a brief short deck session with flush over flush. I'm sick as a dog but back in the poker room now as I can't stay away.

Flush over flush in short deck is quite a cooler. Bummer

How did your friends' 5-10 trip to? Does the game run often?

That would tilt the life out of me, but given your results it's something you learn to put up with I suppose.

Yeah, it's other Asians too, it's worse in Manila and Saigon actually. The most ridiculous is some peeps having no problem putting in four figure amounts with some flush or straight draw or other hand that is clearly behind given the situation, but when they hit their X-outer OTT they immediately call for insurance. Like do you want to gamble or not?
So far as for the Chinese being good at math

The best is when they put individual insurance bets down instead of just one bet, so x dollars on the flush coming, y dollars on the gutterball hitting, and z dollars on the overcard getting there. Fun stuff.
