Hello all,

I'll be visiting Ho Chi Minh City for about a week in early December. I have found a few poker clubs on facebook that seam to require a membership and then offer small stakes tournaments. Does anyone have any recent experience playing live in Vietnam specifically HCMC? I am looking for recommendations on where to play and what kind of bankroll i should be planning on using. I'm there from a Sun. night untill Fri. morning and I have to take my passport to the Thai embassy for two days. I am trying to get information on when is best to play and then I can plan the visa app around that. Any other HCMC tips much appreciated.
Thx,
Gregers

I just went to the ProBridgePoker place. You will walk in, the security guy outside may ask if you have a membership card, you say no. They will direct you upstairs to a desk where you will pay 100k dong to acquire a membership card and then they will have a list of tournaments they have for the day.

Tournaments today was a 1m dong rebuy, a 550k bounty, and a 5.5m dong interest list. Plus one or two others I forget.

I asked if they had cash games and they said no. I may go check out the Saigon Poker place later, will update as needed.

Saigon Poker Live is the same deal, its in an office building on the 3rd floor, so when you are looking for it and come to the office building, yes it is in there.

Membership 100k and tournaments only. Not sure there are cash games here, I mean.. there has to be somewhere haha. I won't be going to Imperial poker, as its like 40 minutes away from here, but at least get some live tourny action going, its 100% Vietnamese though unless there is a series going on I imagine.

Some of these places offer cash games in the form of "sit n go rebuys"

You buy in, they take 10% of your buy in as rake then you can sit down at the "sit n go"

There is no rake, you can leave whenever you want and blinds never go up.

There's a lot of good value hotels in the $15-$30 a night price range... definitely download grab app before you go, it's more expensive than taxis in Thailand but will save you a bunch in Vietnam.

If you plan to play cash games go to Pro Poker Club 2nd floor. They hold 'sit n goes' there which are have a structure very similar to cash. And its protected.

If i were you i would refrain from playing CASH GAMES (tournaments are alright) elsewhere. Heard there were a few busts in the recent months.

Look at the R&G suites on Agoda, super good value and 5 minute walk from 2 poker rooms and the main walking street.

Imperial is a very nice club. the games i played in were low cost w long rebuys witch made the games rough but im sure the higher buy in stuff would be pretty good. I also played at Victorious. That was not nearly as fancy but the deepstack tournament i played in was quite good.

As far as i know. I did see something in the past saying locals could not play but I believe that was amended. I do think that cash games are frowned upon though. Sit n go's or MTTs Good to go.

AFAIK the cash games are disguised as SNGs somehow. Real cash games appear to be illegal

If you mean rake I heard the standard in vietnam tourneys is 10% of buy-in
Worst case check the website.

If you mean legit tax on winnings i have no clue
