Fellow 2+2`ers,

Going to LA with a friend for 6 nights in October. Then 24 hrs/1 night in San Francisco before we`re heading back to Europe.

Obviously the trip could (potentially) still be cancelled because of covid, but wanna start some planning/dreaming.

Never been in this area before, so not sure how we should approach it.

1000`s of videos with tips/ideas on youtube, but have often found this site much more helpful/inspirational.

*Which area in LA should we stay in? Preferrably a safe area with some nightlife in walking distance from the hotel.

*Shortlist of things to do?

*Areas to visit?

*Play poker at least one day/night. Any chance to find omaha hi/lo games?

We are considering to rent a car and drive from LA to San Francisco. Which spots/areas are good to stay in on the route from LA-San Fran?

The drive from LA to SF on I-5, et al isn’t very scenic & there aren’t really any cool stops along the way.

Going along the coast through Santa Barbara at least gives the Cali coastal experience, and there’s better options for overnight for that if taking more than one Day (it adds 1-2 hours to the drive - more if you stay on Highway 1).

The other (long) way is to go into the Sierra Nevadas - Sequoia NP, Yosemite (w/reservation), Lake Tahoe via 395, etc - any of those (by itself) would be doable for car drive-in.
