i backpacked through S.E.A 2 years ago and managed to put a decent amount of volume as i was travelling. one of the places I went through was KL.
Oblivious to their anti (online?)gambling laws i put in a **** load of volume using the internet cafe in my hostel.
My brother and a few others were doing the same lol. I got some funny looks but that was all. Got some emails of stars regarding foreign I.P addresses and had to verify my account again. But other than that, no problems. I did successfully cash out during my travels, but cannea remember where i was at the time...

There aren't any poker games at Genting anymore unfortunately.

There are private games that run, but for someone just visiting they would be tough to find/get into. If you googled hard enough and talked to enough people while you were there you may be able to get into one though. There are a couple that run most days of the week. (Sorry, I can't get you in)

Langkawi - most popular destination

Pangkor Laut - quiter smaller luxury spot

Dunno about internet connections, they will probably have wifi but it probably won't be too fast or reliable.

Definitely check out Perhentian. Two islands that are only accessible by boat, no cars on either island so very quiet and pretty. They do attract a decent amount of tourists but I wouldn't consider them touristy destinations. It's all eco friendly activities like snorkeling, swimming and fishing.

Is it possible to be there during the monsum season?

Hmm.. I've actually only gone during the summer I think. Reading about it now tough, it sounds like monsoon season could be problematic for Perhentian.

However some people here are saying they've been during that time without issues but it sounds thin.

The two places i mentioned just before your post are both west coast, but may be more touristy than you are looking for. You could also look at southern Thailand, flights can be very cheap on AirAsia (60-100 USD one way) since KL is the hub. I think a place like Krabi would be a good fit for you.

Well KL is not very good option for that(expensive drinks, muslims etc.) but you can find something on Chinatown or bintang(not sure about name or how it spelled) area.

KL doesn't have any casino poker rooms. The closest poker room would be in Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa.

There are a couple private games around town that you can play in if you know the right people who can invite you. These usually run from 5/10RM and up. If you google hard enough, you can find an e-mail address associated with one of the games.

48 hours to spend in KL with the gf, of which I suspect around 24 are spent doing the most obvious tourist attractions. Any insider tips for cool stuff to do on the other 24?
