Halong Bay/Cat Ba Island: 4 nights
Hanoi : 1 night
Overnight train to Hue.
Hue 2 nights
Train to Danang then Taxi/private car to Hoi An.
Hoi An: 3 nights.
Back to Danang, fly to HCM city.
HCM City: 3 nights
Boat to Phomn Penh
Phomn Penh 2 nights
Boat to Siem Reip.
Siem Reip: 5 nights.
Boat to Battambang
Battambang 3 nights.
Back to SR.
Are we spending too long or too short a time anywhere? Should we forget Hue and spend longer in Hoi An instead?
We should spend time in Halong Bay or cruise in Cat Ba island.
Any advice on the trip and any advice on places that are mid range price with a pool where kids are welcome would be great!

Everything seem reasonable in your itinerary. I would change a bit and stay 1/2 night in Da nang and probably less in Siem Reap, 3/4 nights there is enough.
