[QUOTE=t90oldem;37657640]how easy is it to get a visa coming for the USA in the uk if your just going to be playing online poker. Looking to move there but want to be able to stay there longer then 6 months(prob 1-2 years). If you cant get one just for online is there any loop holes to be able to get one for having a part time job or going to school (1 or 2 classes at the most). Any help would be great. Thx[/QUOTE

you can get a student visa which is like 3-4 years but you will need to go to a UK uni which is hard to get in and super expensive. There is a working holiday visa but USA are in it I don't think

I know this is old but just to clarify Hungary levies an additional 10% on top of normal income tax for gambling winnings, currently poker would be considered a game of chance in Hungary so overall taxes would be standard income tax + 10% extra, it's definitely not tax free like the UK

Even though tax audits aren't a big problem I'd rather pay the extra 10% and be in the clear, easy for the tax authority to prove you don't do your made up income source. Plus by lying about the source of income you actually fall into tax evasion which is a crime while simply "forgetting" about the additional gambling tax or claiming poker isn't gambling and be proven wrong would only get unpaid tax+interest bill

Prague has always been cheap the times ive been there on holidays with the lads, food and drink were both a lot cheaper than the UK. Some places like the hotel we stayed at the drink was less than a £1 a pint and decent beer. Some nightclubs up to £5. (from a few years ago)

Nightlife is pretty awesome! A mate one a big amount of crona on a casino slot and wanted to collect, but we could not understand the writing or something the floor staff came over and pressed all winnings to credit haha

I was planning on moving to Rosarito next year but since they are putting through some new gambling legislation, Rosarito won't be my choice. I've been researching Central/South American countries borer-line obsessively, and I can't seem to find the perfect place. If anyone has the magic answer (unlikely at best, I realize), I'd appreciate it...

Here's what I'm looking for:
1) A cheap place. I would love to spend no more than $800/month on a 1 or 2 bedroom. It doesn't need to be baller, but I would like AC, a full kitchen, reasonable furniture would be cool, etc. I don't expect to be able to get a luxury villa on this budget
2) I'd like to live on a beach, or in the mountains, and have reasonable access to grocery stores, restaurants, a couple bars...stuff to do. I'm not expecting an L.A. nightlife or Strip quality entertainment, but I don't want to live in a shanty town or some place that looks like Tehran, etc.
3) A pool/jacuzzi would be dope. JSin'. (Not actually important)
4) Reasonably safe access to reasonably good bananas that I won't be imprisoned for partaking in.

That's about it. I love Panama City but it looks like it would be expensive. I've read articles that say you can rent an apartment there for $450, but everything I've seen there has been $1K+. I've been looking at Cuenca, Ecuador a lot recently, but I'm not sure about the banana situation, etc. Cuenca looks beautiful though.

Thanks for any recommendations.

I'm not sure about the internet situation but have you looked into the bocas del tora? Maybe not enough nightlife for you either...

Also, cantrunworse, did you find your place on your own, or did you use a realtor or relocation service? Thanks again for the help man. Much appreciated.

I pay 202euros/month for a spacious four bedroom apartment including roof terrace in an affluent area in the centre of the city, which is about half what my brother pays in the UK. Groceries, going out, etc all cost about the same as UK prices. Wine from supermarkets is amazingly cheap. Finding a bottle that costs more than 5euros is a challenge; even the stuff under 1euro is perfectly drinkable.

Nightlife/Recreation - 9 Granada is a very popular tourist destination. There's the Alhambra, old mosques and palaces. Beach is 1hr away. Southern most ski resort in Europe is 1hr away, and snow is good December - March. Football team is in the primera liga and tickets are super cheap. Nightlife is good, entry usually around 10euros (free for girls) and drinks are pretty cheap if you go on the right nights.

How scary - 10 I've never once been harassed or threatened. There are some sketchy areas where the gypsies live but tbh they're quite hard to reach unless you actively set out to find them. Hardly any pickpockets or street con artists.

Poker - 3No casinos in Granada. Closest is in Malaga, though I've never been. Internet poker is legal but somewhat restricted atm.

Getting there - 10 Around 1.5hrs from Malaga, which has direct flights from all over Europe. International are routed via Madrid. EU citizens can live and work in Spain for as long as they want. Dunno what the limit is for US citizens although many of my American friends have found jobs no problem.
This still the case, hearing bad things about people finding work in Spain

Peru is great for pot. Visitors from Chile here are stoned all the time, because it's so cheap.

Thanks!
