Wich countries do you recomend for budget online grinders?

I am looking for ones with low cost of living (where the dollars you get playing poker are well valued) and decent security.

Eastern Europe. Romania, as if from EU, USA plus perhaps, one could basically be there as long as they want, the same for Polonia and the UK (Ireland and later maybe Scotland, as EU) at this time still, but if the laws have changed, as they do all the time. The good thing about UK is that when you are busto, your get benefits after 5 years or so and they might not be able to kick you out while in Eastern Europe you would be living in sewers. Portugal is somewhere in between, but not so less expensive than much of Spain and you get good benefits there at some regions after you are busto, while in Italy you might have to live in shared flats of some sort then, but not sure. France is rich. All these mediterranean countries have taxes for poker (live poker in spain seems to be the best of these). Romania has low taxes for poker and segregates but as .com (pokerstars) so it can be a problem, and mediterranea will be one pool, but as so also segregated, limited, and in Italy especially illegal to play elsewhere online. UK is tax free and bad weather. Finland and Sweden is reasonable, taxes only outside of the EU play, and not the most expensive countries necessarily, depending on where you live.

Then you could go to Cambodia like everyone else, although long term, doesn't look like too good. One could be in Mexico or India 6 months per year but that doesn't cut enough cake and poker in India is segregated.

Where are you coming up with 6 months for Mexico? You can stay a whole lot longer than that, it's not like anyone checks

Lots of questionable advice in thuis post. Costa of living in most of the UK are pretty high. From what I heard the Polish government doesn't like poker and makes it impossible to deposit/withdrawal through ewallets. If you want to play in Portugal/Spain/Italy you need a local tax number and probably be a resident. Romania is also problematic, just check out what happened to Jaime Staples.

If you are from the US the easiest budget option is Mexico or a Central American country. Ecuador is also a good option. If you really want to live extremely cheaply you could move to Venezuela and play there and every once in a while go to Colombia to use the ATM and change some money at black market rate, but I would advice against that

If you are planning to move to Eastern Europe it's best to do some research about the tax and legal situation. A lot of the EU countries have some sort of regulation. Non EU countries like Serbia or Albania would also get you great value I suppose and I'm pretty sure you can play on every site there

-yes, do the research, like I have from much part. The regulations are mostly what I have mentioned. Poker tax isn't high in Romania. The problem of Albania is that it isn't EU (3 months at the time at best is the most likely case), and the goods of it is that it is low costs of living and some better weather, and the Greece people might like it overall.

This is a good post because for Americans visa considerations are a huge factor in where to go. I tried France for a year on a student visa, but it got too confusing with my visa situation to continue there. Cost of living is a bit cheaper than most large American cities (other than Paris and the Côte d'Azur), but you have to have a good reason to be able to stay.

I am looking into Medellin or Mexico City now because it is much easier from a visa perspective and cost of living is also very low.

I wasn't talking about safety or the weather. As a foreigner you can't play on Pokerstars when you are just visiting. Staples went there and couldn't play on Stars.com so had to move to another country. If you just need a resident permit it's not a big deal for a Euro I guess.

In the case you are going there to play online; you can't play on Stars and other sites might be shut down as well soon.

It's also one of the worst ****holes on all of the earth.

Yah, I did more research on the 2 and will test out Mexico City for a month and if I like it, then I will make it a permanent home. I like that there are some pretty upscale neighborhoods like Condesa, Roma, or Polanco where it is possible to find a small apartment for $400-500/month. Also possible to eat good food for next to nothing and public transport/Uber costs very little as well.

I'm curious why you're so down on Medellin though? The consensus in the Medellin seemed to be that it was a solid city. I'm interested in more than just hookers and partying though and it seemed to be severely lacking in culture. I'll still probably visit next year to see for myself, but the more I read, the less interested in the city I become.

Stayed in La Condesa for 10 days pre-earthquake, was legit and walked around a bunch. Could definitely see posting up there to grind/live. Uber was great as well. Also liked the food cart/truck culture mixed in, even in the posher neighborhoods there.

Only clear downside seemed to be the altitude + air (even after a week wasn't quite acclimated). There's obv. a lot of crime in the broader City, but - first night got in at 1 a.m. and in front of my AirBnB a guy walking his dog didn't even look up at me as we crossed paths (totally relaxed body language). If you don't stand out, there's probably a lot bigger $$ there for bad doers to bother.

Club America game in Estadio Azteca was nuts as well, even against a newer/non-rival team like the Tijuana Xolos.

I could go on, but this summarises it pretty well.

If your standards for hellhole are:

dirty city
with unclean drinking water
horrible shopping and nightlife
primitive cuisine
violent
with short, chubby women

then yes, I'd agree most of Latin America qualifies

CDMX and BA are alright tho
