I'm not making definite plans, I said it's possible but not guaranteed. In other words if I build a $6k liferoll and earn like $2k a month by March 2018, then I'll probably make the move to Northeast Asia.
Spoiler:
All I'm doing is setting a high goal for 'what if' poker goes extremely well over the next 4.5 months. Which I find is a great motivation to grind my ass off in order to potentially achieve that goal by March.

First of all, the heater wasn't the reason. I would've rented a place that cost the same or less than my condo in Pasig.

Second of all, it was a $4.7k heater. You pulled the number 400 out of your ass or maybe you mistook $4,000 for $400 in the graph.

The current 41 BI heater at 60NL is just a helpful boost of motivation to grind more. The money won doesn't affect my travel plans and is certainly not the reason I've set my Northeast Asia goals. To achieve them I'll probably need to crush 300NL, not 60NL.

That's the minimum you should play every week.

Very true. 2 months ago I averaged only 20-25h/week and have been increasing it ever since.

I am sorry If It seemed like I critize you. Variance in the poker can make you feel like one day you are banging the perfect 10's only to be gang raped by ladyboys next month. Just don't let the Variance to affect you that bad and I mean both good and bad Variance. You would be shocked how may guys (myself included) went nearly busto due to winners tilt when you suddenly start to spend like there was no tommorow and play everyone at any stakes only to be brutally awaken by Variance from this beautiful dream.

And try to slowly play more tables than 2 it is not like playing 4 tables is beyond your capacity and it would be equivalent of increasing your hours 2. times which is significant unless your PC can't handle using 4 emulator windows simultanously then you need a new PC.

GL with whatever you decide to pursue in the future.

Its you getting crap wrong like this that leads you to not play enough hours. You've failed at this, time for the parents to bail you out, son.

No, I appreciate your input and that's a hilarious analogy. I'll pay attention to not fall into that vicious circle of letting my results dictate my mood or my motivation to put in hours. Exactly that has already happened to me during my first ever 300NL downswing (that happened to be the biggest downswing in terms of BI I've ever had, around 15-20 BI at 300NL and 150NL combined). I don't think the next downswing will affect me that much or even close to that much.

Constructive criticism is welcome as long as your intention isn't to see me fail like a certain person that's passionately rooting against someone half his age because he seems miserable about his own Las Vegas 1/2 life achievements.

You know it hit hard when a 40 year old man starts writing in caps to make a point.

Well, to balance it out bro, here is a dose of good vibes coming from another 40 years old man : I definitely want to see you succeed and hope you get the most out of South-East Asia Alot of people will want to see you fail, as such is human nature, but try to focus on the positive

It's getting a bit weird how much you keep needling him, when you are old enough to be his Dad. He is probably right that you're projecting insecurity over your own level of success.

Here you are looking for shared accommodation in a poker house in a developing country. You say you are 38 years old there (2016). Finally you find an unfurnished place for $200/mo, even less than OP pays.

Here are your 10nl hand history threads where you ask for strategy advice. At that age, except one is 2017 so 39 or 40 years old.

There are no threads at any higher online stakes than that... if you do play higher now well here you are searching for a backer for some of your action, maybe that finally allowed you to move up and now you feel you can bully someone else.

All in all, it's way easier to laugh at you given your age, than it is to laugh at OP in the Philippines at 22. At least he bought a plane ticket. Here you are asking to share gas and hotel costs to drive across the border.

Hi, I was a pussy when moving up in stakes. The variance suddenly became double and I constantly doubted myself, wondering if I was even good enough at the next levels up. I babied my bankroll and am embarrassed to look at my past records where I was putting in so little hours. But once you are confident and making decent money, it's really easy to put in the hours. Especially if decent hours translates into a good life.
And by the way, what nationality is the girl underneath the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean women?

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

Manila had 3 non-working holidays during the ASEAN summit, making last weekend a 5 day weekend I spent with my gf, including her birthday. We had sushi, pizza and went to some light show at Ayala that happens there everyday during Christmas time I think.

I've grinded 77 hours in the first 15 days of November but I wanna increase it further. The 5 day weekend has set me back a bit; on gf's birthday I only played 1.5 hours.

I'm trying to establish a routine like 6-7 hours a day with no days off, which I find more comfortable than say 7-8 hours with 1 day off. 6 hours leaves so much time to do other things that I don't feel like there's any risk of burnout doing that long term. Have any of you grinded 7 days a week long term? How is it?

Yeah that was definitely a big part of the reason for my poor volume but the other half was plain laziness.

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

Have done some absurdly long periods of time in my life where i did nothing but sleep, wake up grind, and work on my poker game. Personally i always enjoyed it. I've always had that obsessive style personality when im into something.

If you feel comfortable with how your life is currently and feel your playing well keep doing what your doing. If you start to wake up feeling tilted cause you have to play poker or get those "here comes the run bad feelings" early in your session often start adjusting your schedule and take some time off.

My experience is kinda different from yellowfever. I mean I was never a grinder more like low volume high winrate type of guy. The one question you need to ask yourself is how prone to tilt you are.
I mean for me whenever I tried to increase my volume significantly what would happen would be I would grind more then I would start downswinging which always happen at some point then I would still push myself to grind while being tilted->spew-> winrate suffers ->to the point I would end up b/e or something silly for a month or something-> quit and go back to previous routine.
I would say you might be simmilar to me in that case (because you already had extremly low volume when running really bad and went almost busto...)

Still good idea for increasing your volume is I think what Elliot Roe suggests in his simple volume system which is to make it a plan for 3 months when you first look at what your average volume last couple of months was and then increase it like 20% every month so you don't risk burnout and at the same time you still get massive gains in terms of volume.

Ulitmately you know yourself better than anyone else so you need to make the decision for you.

BTW Great job man!!! Keep up the good work. You are on track and things look better and better. Now just don't get too confident and respect Variance because Variance is a ***** and is always going to **** you up at some point.

**** no!!! not if you are slightly above breaking even. 20 hours a week max with prep for each time you sit down. do whatever you need to do. jerk off meditate study some old hands, whatever dont sit mindlessly and slam hands if you arent a big winner. then when you are feeling motivated and your mind is on it put in big days. but dont slave yourself to this game it will wreck results!

That's what I did as well back in the days when I was still grinding. 6h a day, pretty much right after I got up at 6am. Downed some small thai redbull glass bottle and did w/e afterwards. Good times. Only took time off when I traveled or really had something else to do. Grinding is a lot different than shuffling papers in some office job so more than 6h of sustained focus is not really doable for most per day.

How often have you been taking breaks in between sessions?

I haven't exactly followed that but I am following the principle of slowly increasing my volume month by month; no more 'from 80 to 200 hours' plans or prop bets. I've played 85 hours in the first 17 days of November so I'm heading towards 150h this month.

So far 78h --> 117h --> 150h

Thanks! I'll keep my excitement for short term results at a minimum. I reached 50 BI ($3,000) at 60NL today but I'm not gonna pop the corks , I'm ready for whatever happens next.

Just had a discussion with my gf whether or not we take a tricycle to McDonald's even though she's not hungry and wouldn't eat anything - I would be eating food I don't even want by myself - because she's collecting the toys you get when you buy a Happy Meal. She's 24 years old...

I think my English didn't make it clear: She wanted to go (just for the toys without eating anything), I wanted to stay home.

surely what you (don't) put in your body > toys collection from junk food..
what is she cooking well ?

brought some seeds with me of mikado tomatoes, leaks, brussels sprouts...
she gets good at gardening and hopefully by new year we can start eating our own veggies..
