Comparing Manila to BKK, the BGC is like Thonglor / Ekkamai in BKK, and Makati is like Asok / Nana.

Although the BGC is even cleaner / more first world, and even less hookers, at least Thonglor has a few soapies. BGC has tons of nice restaurants, bars with high class chicks, nightclubs where you aren't going to have a one night stand very often (Valkyrie club would be like Demo in Thonglor), and fancy condos. I like Two Serendra condo, it has 4 swimming pools, 5 gyms, basketball, badminton, pool table, table tennis.

I prefer Makati though because it still has nice condos (Gramercy, Milano, Knightsbridge), and hookers (P burgos street red light district), and just feels more gritty and real, BGC is boring and sterile to me, unless I had a girlfriend or was trying to get one, then yeah I'd live there. I don't care about occasionally walking past beggars, ladyboys, freelancers at night. Still has tons of nice restaurants around there too, sports bars, and a decent amount of normal chicks with some hookers mixed in.

Info, I'm thinking about a move to Medellin and noticed that you were poking around that thread from time to time. What made you decide not to move there? I guess Spanish being so important is a negative, but seems like the type of girls there would be good LTR-material for you and it's probably easy to live there very cheaply if you avoid the main gringo areas for apartments.

@InfoShove you should check out this apartment in Makati. Same price as your current place but MUCH bigger, nicer. 2 bedroom so if you can find a roommate the rent will be cut in half and you'll be saving huge. https://www.olx.ph/item/2-bedroom-ap...l?h=7dc6e5fc5b

the point is not how to save 3-6 k a month but how to generate an extra 15-25k from proper work ethic and discipline

k2d was his idol.. k2d outsmarted the crowd in longetivity off the grid, but I'm sure he spent quite a lot more time and effort on getting something done one way or another..

Maybe grind the livegames and get place from paranaque / pasay. (close to casinos) Makati is pricey and no big difference to other cities in MetroM., malls are here bit less packed (crowds dont come for free AC) bit less beggars and more foreigners but still same as other cities in Metro (too packed), heavy traffic and more expensive.

Grind live is actually solid advice. I know people knock it because is lower stakes. Sure it isn't baller but if you can beat any stakes online I don't see how you can't clear at least 40k/month at 25/50. That only assumes 5 bb/hr win rate and of course at least 40 hr/wk volume (likely issue in this case). Play at RW where rake is only 5%, buyin is 200 bb, and you earn points for time played.

Yes, actually visited RW day before yesterday. 50/100 was highest running stake game was pure fish game. Beer costed 220php but rake is 5%.. Not sure where the cap is though. Might be actually similar rake to solaire & COD if the rake is then capped higher.

****ty to take taxi out of the RW though.

this discussion about him grinding live at RW was had earlier in the thread.. together with how to minimize his risk of ruin.

he had only 3 min BI available to do this and also his lack of live experience made him decide against it..

given how he totally lacks discipline, live grinding is clearly not going to work.. lot's of cash management discipline needed live with a mini bankroll to nit it up, table change after double up, etc...

the only known skill he has imo seems to be programming skills.. and he does not seem to put this to work towards any novel idea.. maybe he throws all he got left on some fake internet money.. ?

Rake cap is similar so at 50/100 or lower the 5% has impact. CoD beer is free so for some that might offset the difference in rake.

I've stopped using taxis at all in Manila. Uber or Grab just seem better all around.

What is the best casino for daily tournaments?

I want to play as many tournaments as i can as well as some cash 25/50 and 50/100
I hear RW is the best for cash

Also what is the best area to stay in for playing live full time?

Don't know much about the casinos but best place to stay is Makati, BGC. Paranaque, Pasay or Taguig if you're watching your pockets but you can find reasonable apartments in Makati. Won't be baller and you'll be surrounded by poverty you can always just hang out in the Makati area and use the apartment to eat sleep rinse repeat. If you have a healthy roll and can figure your budget to be 1k+ a month def stay in Makati.

Praying Info still has his penis and is still in the Philippines, favoring the latter over the former.

If you want daily tournaments it would be CoD or Metro. I don't actually play so can't comment on structure but know both have daily schedule.

Cash at those stakes can be found at RW, CoD, and I believe Solaire. 25/50 I would focus on RW but not sure how consistently they get 50/100 since reopening. CoD usually has at least 2 tables with more on weekends.

Travel time depends a lot on time of day. My travel from BGC to CoD is usually around 30 minutes if I go 9pm or later. Obv this wouldn't work for daily tournaments.

If my focus was live poker probably would pick a place near CoD so easy/quick to get there or Solaire and with Skyway trip to RW shouldn't be bad either (P45 extra for toll). Have not lived in that area so don't know much about cost nightlife etc but are number of fairly new condos so should be possible to get decent place.

Yeah, if you are going to be playing live a lot then I wouldtn' stay in Makati. There are condos in Newport City that are walking distance to RW and a short taxi ride to COD for when they have a MTT series running. I've stayed in a studio at Two Palm Tree Villas which was fine. There are other condo options as well like Sarasota, Montecito, Pinecrest etc.

Thanks Guys,

Are they many 2+2 guys that play mainly live in Mania?
Its possible to make 1k a month at 25/50? Playing 4/5 days a week

Quite a few lurkers, but not many posters are playing in Manila at the moment as far as I know.

Can make 1k a month at 25/50, but if you are spending money on taxis to and from it could seriously reduce that.
