No offense, but it seems that you only met westerners in bars / nightclubs. Of course you will not meet the crème de la crème in this places but still.. After 7 years here I met some cool sketchy dudes, by that I mean ok to hangout with for one night, when in yolo mode. During my first year living in SEA, I even got the best advice for an expat living here from a 1% biker when I was living in Chiang Mai, which was something like "trust no one", by that he meant about how you make money while living here, on tourists visas, etc (doesn't apply to bros or LTR gf, ofc).
I got a friend here who use an app, to find partners for whatever sports you want to play, tennis, basketball, soccer, etc. Easy way to make new friends and higher chance to find quality people. Also can join a boxing / mma / gym etc train there, meet others expats from your FB expats group from your city, not hard to meet new "quality" expats if you avoid gogo bars to make new friends!

Can't compare SEA with NEA for cost of living, easy visas to stay long-term, weather, women. Easy win for SEA. Even for English teachers, Vietnam seems to be the best in Asia when you take everything in consideration, but I am not one so maybe I am wrong.
