Youtube still... Even though I haven't uploaded in 11 months. My biggest problem that stops me is that I can't do most of those videos alone so I'll need to find a Filipina, probably girl, that is motivated to spend 10-20 hours a week on Youtube which is hard to find. It's not impossible to find, the channel has over 4k subs so I guess there have to be some willing girls that dream of internet fame but I haven't found any yet. The girls either don't have a lot of time cuz of studies or work and the jobless ones with a lot of time I've encountered so far are too dumb to work with.

I have a good finished video that I'm waiting to upload on April 1st (which is an important date) and ideally I'd find the right girl by then to upload weekly videos thereafter but it's a bit optimistic.

Can you edit vids?
Alwyays thought Youtube is a great way to make money for us crazy people who travel on low budgets, degen it up, etc. But You gotta have an enterpreneurial spirit, right? (I don't).

this guy "No Joke Howard" was getting a lot of subscribers telling about his life in Cambodia, then all of a sudden he makes a video showing his new ladyboy friends and starts posting videos high on Speed, Ketamine, other stuff (I think he deleted it now)

And now he went back to the US lol, royally ****ed up. But it shows that even an idiot can make a living out of youtubing life in SEA

I might be wrong but I think you get an average of 1USD for 1000 views, so this guy is definitly not "making a living" from his videos, beer money at best.

Yea, for sure he isn't making bank
But you can also get money in other ways, not just "view money"

Advertise bars,hotels, etc
Provide "coaching" (this guy was giving martial arts/workout sessions)
Write (like dante, started as degen stories in Cambodia and now he has a blog)
get staked by a viewer if you wanna play poker
find viewers places to rent and get comission

again, that was just a guy uploading unedited vids on youtube of himself talking...

Yeah I can edit vids but my channel category is entertainment and I don't wanna do vlogs or travel videos. I think those niches are oversaturated and it's super hard to make over 50k or 100k subs from that. There's a lot of travel Youtubers that are good at editing and put a lot of effort but and are stuck a few thousand subs.

I doubt he makes a living from 7k subs, even in Cambodia. On Socialblade (https://socialblade.com/youtube/chan...smJdIg/monthly) you can see he makes 130k views a month and I can say for myself BKK's $1 per 1k is pretty close.

Finally have my own place, I just moved in.

It's only semi furnished so lots of essential stuff is missing - stove, fan, silverware, curtains, maybe a table. But the apartment is already above my budget so I'll only buy true essentials - stove and curtains (for food and sex) for now.

Still can't believe there is no deposit.

13k in Pasig which is a cheaper, bit more outward part of Manila (I know you know k2d, but for others). In some way I like it here more than in Taguig and Makati because it feels very local / typical Filipino here in Pasig. But it also feels more dangerous from first impression.

Pasig

depends how much u wna learn? are you ever really going to be using the words day to day if youre not fluent? no not really. is there enough material to get past the basics on the net? i dont think so really. you dont really need it at all.

but learning a new language is always fun. it gets brownie points with women. if you got an hour or two spare a day where all youre going to be doing is watching youtube or w/e and you plan to be in this country for awhile. may aswell do something productive with that time and learning tagalog can be decent.

if youre only going to be here for a couple months then pretty much no point.

imo its only really worth it if you get a tutor who can slow conversational tagalog down for you to really understand it. if you try learn of the neT, use it in conversation, then youll really struggle to understand their reply if its in tagalog

Tagalog helps socialize by showing people you're interested in their culture (including girls) but it's not needed to get by, it's up to you if you think it's worth it. I just practice it by asking people questions about Tagalog words or phrases (they love teaching you if you show interest learning it).

yeah, guess I'll just skip it and ask them to teach me words sometimes (just to make'em happy)

when you guys were arriving by plane, did they require :
*plane ticket going somewhere else
*planet ticket going home
*proof of accomodation
?

cause I'm going to couchsurf for the first 3 days... but if they ask me for proof of accomodation I won't have nothing.
I guess I'll have to make a fake one?

They didn't ask me for any ticket but they often do so just get an onward ticket anywhere outside the country. You can rent a throwaway ticket for $10, see post #3 of this thread. That site gave me a real ticket, it simply expires after 48 hours.
