strong logic, dante

yeah playing short (and nitty) gives you less variance, but you also have a lower winrate (which also gives u a little more chance of a downswing)

Hope OP doesn't resort to playing... could **** with his liferoll
KEEP HUSTLING!! WE BELIEVE IN YOU
nice reading comprehension, if you gonna call someone out try and understand what they said first

i didnt say it was more costly, i said you are more likely to go on a 3bi downswing when shortstacking

when you play with a 40bb stack you are forced to play hands that you don't need to overvalue when deep

ie, you have a 2k stack in 25-50 and there is a raise to 150 and 3 calls, you have AK, pretty much have to raise (or you shouldnt be at the table) and are likely gonna get stacked if you are beat, or put a third of your stack into the pot and then fold.... much better

when playing deep you don't need to overvalue AK, and if you raise and get 4bet can safely fold it so you dont get stacked

you are raising the variance by playing short, ie more likely to go on a 3bi downswing

Yeah, I wonder if Bernie means 300 BB when he says 3 BI so in fact it's really 7.5 BI. Certainly his statement about being a fish is more legitimate if he really means 7.5 BI.

Kind of a moot point though as if you're buying in for only 40 BB you're already a fish by default.

yeah, you are essentially correct, but this line of thought doesn't take you anywhere

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

The goal was on how for him to nit it up enough for his bankroll as to ‘minimise risk close to zero of a three 40bb BI ruin at the start’ while still making money at RW..
And so, it’s not about hands per se but identifying which 1 or 2 players you are going to play post flop against, waiting 2 to 3 hours if necessary to find that 1 or 2 ‘85/15 ‘ spots .

To almost NEVER go multiway all in.. It’s not about maximising EV, it’s how to minimise risk of ruin of your meagre 3BI 120 BB roll.

I maintain it’s very do-able at RW if you discipline yourself in your table selection, play only 3-4 hands a day post flop against identified villains (which definitely implies plenty of limp foldng or open folding AKo pre if multiway, folding overpairs post multiway), hit and run > 60-70 BB wins...

but gonna stop polluting his thread since he hasn’t got any live cash experience to make the try worthwhile.

Don't get me wrong, I love sex and I wish in my 25 days here I had already ****ed 20 girls instead of one. But at the same time I wouldn't mind having a top 0.1% girl that I enjoy talking to and spend time with her for more than just sex provided that she's also after for more than just money or a green card. And I think I may have found a girl like that and she's definitely in the top 0.1% for me.
I don't get lonely without girls. I can have no interaction with anyone for days and feel fine.

Just occasional meetups with male friends for dinner, sports, partying, is enough, plus online interaction in whatsapp chats / forums or whatever. Girls aren't really that mentally stimulating and if sex isn't involved I don't see much reason to be around them.

Don't mind some mutually fun activity with them, but as for focused attention I'd rather listen to a podcast. I thought most guys were like that.

if you are going to nit it up in holdem you are way better off buying deep

if you are folding AK and limp folding pairs you pretty much are only going to get paid with sets in limped pots or AA/KK pre

might as well be deep if waiting for the nuts

this
I can go for two weeks without even spotting a female around if I'm not horny... but if I don't see a friend to have some tea or talk about philosophy... get depressed as fuark. Girls can be just a hobby

depends on the setting really?

in middle of the day and you walk past them? theyll likely be taking the piss out of you with "hey joe" or something in tagalog with their friend.

in a bar? dont really talk to them all that much, but everyones friendly when you got a few drinks. most filipinos dont really go out to westerner bars all that much.

in philippines, gay men are your best friends. easily best wingmen you will have after they hit on you and you say youre not gay.

I haven't fully figured out that Sir thing yet. Are they just polite in general and call anyone Sir (including other Filipinos) or do they say it mostly to foreigners?

filipinos say "po" to anyone who theyre being semi-respectful to. And always if theyre older than them (unless close friends). it shows respect and similar to "sir/ma'am" so thats why they say sir a lot to foreigners. they dont call filipinos sir/ma'am, they would say ate/kuya when directly addressing them with the use of "po" in sentences

filipinos are HUGE on showing respect during conversations. use "po" to your lady friend every now and again in messages. its semi-flirty in those situations

i hate it. makes me feel like im 70 years old. x

Short answer: I don't want to go back.

The best things to me are the cheap cost of living, everyone speaking English, the people being friendly, easy going and always up for a chat, the girls being less bitchy and obviously the foreigner bonus you have as a white guy. If you're young and average looking you will get eye ****ed by girls all the time in any populated locations you go and they seem shocked but happy to be approached by a foreigner.

The drawbacks are that it feels a bit sketchy in some places, especially at night, and it's probably hard to make local friends because of the cultural difference. I don't mind both, just watch your back and don't get wasted drunk and then walk home at night.

Sir is commonly spoken among Filipinos. It's used as a common greeting to older and/or superior status, and also in the service and retail sectors.

Ate and Kuya are used mainly among the younger crowds, and you usually don't hear it among working professionals or the upper class. (exception if it is part of a common nickname they use, like Ate Leni or Kuya Marc).

Po is a politeness and can be used in any context or sentence to convey politeness or respect. It's more often used to address people older than you or a higher social standing. Although not incorrect, it's not a good idea to talk to girls you meet with po or opo, as it makes you inferior/distanced from that person's social standing.

You may have found it's flirty, but only because you're not Filipino. Some Filipina girls may find it cute coming from a foreigner, but it's not a good habit.

ahh ok thx.

i have seen filipinos use it to women theyre trying to date though (po / opo) and asked the women if its normal as i first found it strange and she said its normal. but probably average~ class filipinos. (not used every sentence though, just every now and again)

It's not wrong, just not something you would normally do when trying to date a girl. As a foreigner, any words of tagalog will gain you points, so it's not really that important, just don't do it to the servers/waiters when you eat out.
