Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

girls love emotional spikes. If she wasn't already massively invested in info, that was just really -EV cuz now she's like wtf is wrong with this guy rather than getting bothered about it(personally im not big on this manipulating stuff but it definitely works). Btw that was a prime example of taking value from someone rather than offering. You pushed all your own insecurities and your agenda on her. Also what Gonzo said

This is what most people have been saying.

It's info's weird insistence that any girl he's sleeping with has to be exclusively sleeping with him that's a big part of the issue.

That's not the case at all. Most of my 10 or so hookups I didn't care what else they were doing.

It's only the hookups I was the most attracted to that I tried to turn into an exclusive relationship (my ex and now Sarah, as well as 4 crushes I didn't bang).

Actually most low end remote jobs have brutal work weeks (6 days instead of 5) and performance goals as they can replace you within a day with someone else unless you speak Norwegian or w/e other super high wage countries are out there.

If you can make even 600 bucks a month playing poker chances are your life will be more chill than that of a filipino working 6 days a week for the same money and they could get fired at a moments notice as well without severance or anything (seen that more than once due to "changes of strategy").

I have a chill remote gig making US level wages right now but it was basically a random stroke of luck of being contacted by a serious company at the right time.

Where are you at these days? Manila? Cebu? Came across any hidden gems?

given how relatively inexpensive airfares are, you're better off working in the developed world and negotiating 1-2 months off per year with your employer than spending your life grinding a living in south-east asia.

the hookers will be there in 10 years time.

So you're suggesting one should hate his life working at McDonald's back home for 10-11 months a year so he can go to SEA to bang hookers 1-2 months a year... I'll pass, as long as I have an alternative I'll do anything to not make that hell on earth my reality. If I had the choice between making $600 online living in SEA and making $2k back home I'd snap call the $600 online.

Is lol69 a troll / playing a character? I'm asking because today another Travel 2+2'er with several thousand posts over the course of several years (I don't wanna say his name) has revealed to me in private he's just a super elaborate troll playing a character the whole time and I found it fascinating.

In major European cities you'll have room mates for life these days outside of a high end career.

In smaller cities you'll be surrounded by white trash and bloodthirsty rapefugees straight from warzones.

You'll be constantly panicked about saving up cause rent is so expensive and always going up with studio apartments costing half a million these days in London etc. so only a ****** would piss it all away for whore mongering trips above the age of 30 without said high end career.

In the third world however rental costs have pretty much reached their limits as locals can only afford so much even on a combined income.

Actually you could study on the governments dime and live the chill student life but idk if you're interested in that. Hard to say how much manhating #metoo girls there are in unis these days.

lol69 is an anti poker pro troll who couldn't cut it at playing poker and called doom and gloom on anyone enjoying himself in SEA while playing poker while he is stuck in some **** job traveling over whenever he has holidays.

There are digital nomad trolls as well that failed at obtaining remote jobs or remote income and call anyone who did so a scammer hawking get rich quick products.

These people mind**** themselves non stop to rationalize why they're living in a ****ty place in the west working some ****ty job that they hate instead of saying meh maybe try something else / another strategy / a new business approach they just hate in their free time instead.

I personally consider online poker pretty much dead these days though.

If by "high end career" you mean having a regular career / job (maybe not the golden M type) then you're basically correct

Major cities in Europe are so expensive these days, if you earn less than top 10-20% incomes you'll live a ****ty life, as in long commutes, not having your own apartment, having low to no savings.

£70,000 puts workers in the top 5 per cent of UK earners – why are we so reluctant to acknowledge this?
https://www.independent.co.uk/voices...-a7697561.html

70k is hardly the high life in London and I consider 55k to be the bare minimum to not live like a pauper (non shoddy studio apartment, cheap car cause you don't want to deal with the ghetto people on public transport and enough savings not to live hand to mouth) and I'm saving the same in SEA as I would save making that money in London doing a much easier job.

Getting a company to pay you 55k in London means you have a really solid career going for yourself.

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

i definitely wasn't talking about getting a job in asia

the best thing info has going for him is his age, he has all the time in the world to get something going

imo, based on what ive read from him, he doesnt have the motivation to be an 'entrepreneur' or at least not to start from nothing and thrive

he might be able to continue to break even on life expenses playing poker forever..... but that is a brutal way to go through life

he should do whatever makes him happy, but if i were him i'd go move back in with the parents, eat **** for a couple years working 2 jobs, make one of them a boring desk job where he can work on his own 'entrepreneur' stuff while cashing a check

then save up money and move back over when he has 10k in the bank and his 'entrepreneur' side hustle has him earning 500-1000 a month

now some will call me a hypocrite and say isnt that exactly what everyone told you to do...... and ya, many did, the difference is i played poker 5 hours (or more) EVERY DAY from once i got stars up and running until when i quit (other than a couple months in cebu with crap internet)

again his problem is motivation and actually doing the work that needs to be done, you can't be an 'entrepreneur' if that is the type of person you are

also your '55k the bare minimum to not live like a pauper' comment is pretty ridiculous, are you saltywetfish or something?

this dudes living on 600 a month in manila, i think he wouldnt kill himself if he had 3k to live on in a euro city

of course him going home and getting handed a 55k a year job isn't likely........ ie eat **** for a couple years

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

These cost estimates are hilariously off. 3k in Europe? Maybe capital cities. I was just in Lyon, 3rd largest city in France, and my rent for a fully furnished, really nice 1-bedroom in the richest neighbourhood in the city only ran me $900/month, everything included. If I wanted to grab a cheap place in a less posh area, it could easily be had for $300-500. That's with 0 connections, I found it on AirBNB and negotiated a bit with the owner. Restaurants and groceries weren't nearly as expensive as Paris.

This is all without the connections that Info would presumably have in Germany. Germany is also a cheaper country than France. So if I could get by on like 2k/month in France living an upper class lifestyle, I'm sure Info could easily do it in Germany for about double what he's paying now.

It's all moot b/c he apparently hates Europe with a passion, but if he was interested in k2d's plan, he could probably save quite a bit of cash for 2-3 years and then make a return to SEA in a much more stable position and possibly have a stream of passive income coming in as well.

This.

Avoid London, NYC, San Francisco, Aukland, Sydney, Tokyo and affordable living can be found.

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

No need to go back to Germany to work a few years. Who would want to go back to live there, lol. Look at what is happening in Birmingham and you get an idea of what Western Europe will become in the near future. His best bet would be to survive a few more months in Manilla while making the English teacher certificate online (forgot the name) then move to Vietnam / China. In Vietnam the average salary for teaching is ~$20 per hour, OP is not an English native speaker but he would not have problem finding a job here, he would probably get paid a little bit less but he would still be living in Asia making enough money to live well and would have plenty of free time after school to work on an online business to earn a passive income.

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

it really is amazing how off base with reality some people are when it comes to spending..... like just because they are wasteful with money they assume everyone else needs to be... and also its funny how some read how he is living on 600 a month and don't come to the conclusion that he doesn't need as much as they do

teaching english wouldnt be the worst thing, my whole point is that even that would take some self motivation that i dont see info having

i have stayed out of this thread mostly cuz its pretty obvious that any advice we give him is just wasting our time (hmmm, another thing i feel like ive read before) cuz at the end of the day no matter what path he chooses it is all going to come down to him putting in the effort

right now it feels like all he wants to do is the bare minimum to get by... if he is happy then good for him but there is more out there if he wants to get it

I am pretty sure he wouldn’t get a working visa for China.
And btw, way too much hate for the situation in Germany guys. Not sure if you guys stayed there for a long time tho but if you are not broke as **** you don’t have a problem to have a decent life there.
If you lazy as **** and don’t have the motivation to do anything, you pretty much ****ed up everywhere imo

Re: Clueless kid moving to Manila - Never been to Asia before

You guys really have no ideas about the job situation in Europe and taxation it seems.

55k post tax is 3.3k per month in the UK.

A studio apartment in London that is not run down or in a ****ty area will cost you at least 1.3k and then you add council taxes of 150 a month. Add another 100 for utilties and internet.

Then you pay 300 for food (chances are you'll be eating out a lot cause you're stressed out and in a hurry which will increase this).

A car will cost you 500ish a month incl. loan repayments, repairs, gas, insurance etc.

Now we have a total of 2350 just for basic living.

I'm easily saving that 1k a month that'd be left working from home in SEA, not commuting, paying 500 bucks a month in rent for a nice place.

Getting a decent job in a second tier city in Europe is pretty hard without a solid background.

These are mostly economic wastelands these days (not competitive in a globalized world) and what's left is low paying jobs so you aren't really gaining any edge in savings. Always keep the high taxes in mind as well.

These places are only good for welfare bums and low income people because cheap housing is available.

I haven't only been grinding but working office jobs as well so I have a realistic idea about the job markets and incomes in Europe.

Grooming gangs abused more than 700 women and girls around Newcastle after police appeared to punish victims

The perpetrators came from a diverse range of backgrounds including Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, Iranian, Iraqi, Kurdish, Turkish, Albanian and Eastern European. (one token white dude in the picture who looks like a junky that'd do anything for cash)

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a8225106.html

In August 2014 the Jay report concluded that an estimated 1,400 children, most of them white girls,[23] had been sexually abused in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013 by predominantly British-Pakistani men.

Yeah who cares... those evil racists... shariah will solve it all my friend...

"don't argue with fools''

I feel good heart today so I am gonna answer you. Back home (Switzerland) one third of my best friends are foreigners mostly from Africa, many of my them are Muslims (most of them born and raised in my country or moved there very young), my ex gf LTR back home was a muslim from Somalia. I have been living in Asia since 7 years, always respected the local culture/religion from the country where I was living.

I imagine that you are too much brainwashed to understand it but the problem is not about being a minority the problem is about foreigners who don't want to be respectful/to integrate in the country where they live..
