Hi, I'm visting australia soon and wondered which are the best casino's there?

what stakes?
how often to they run?
what is the level of skill?

any other useful information would be great

I was planning on going perth but I heard the casino's there are crap and poker hardly runs?

I never made it to Perth or Canberra so I can't comment on those, but this was my experience:

Melbourne is the biggest with the best variety of games, lowest rake (though not by much) and the toughest competition.

Sydney and Gold Coast were the softest.

Gold Coast is the most comfortable and friendly,

Brisbane is a nice city but the casino is crap.

If you want to make money playing NL, Sydney and GC are the best bets. Anywhere will have $1/2 and $2.50/5 or $5/5. Sydney and Melbourne run 24 hours.

the 'toughest competition' at melbourne is still very very bad so I wouldnt worry about it too much, especially if you are there on a weekend. It's also the largest card room by far, and has games running 24/7.

You actually HAVE more regulars in Melbourne but i wouldnt worry about that too much. they are as good as some NL25 regs. They have majorleaks as well as they have no idea of onlinepoker.... ^^

SOME of them are good. but the most of them are playing 500NL. i am playing 2/3 with max buy in of 300$ in melbourne and i like it! GoldCoast has not reaally much traffic. Sydney and Melbourne are nutz! i prefer Melbourne though.

Im grindin there the whole NOvember so if anybody is there in that time... look for me

I used to go a couple evenings later in the week, not so much in recent times. But it's a big room and there's NL200 (2/3) and NL500 (2/5) running 24/7 all year round so good for a tourist to drop in any time.

Sydney usually has a 5-10 2k max BI running, and 2-3 times a month gets 10-20 5k max running. Also has 5-5 and 5-10 no cap PLO running occasionally. If you're in any casino during anzpt there will usually be a 25-50-100 game. Can't say I know about melb as I'm only there during tourney series but from what I've seen they sometimes get a 5-5 1k bi up, and the 5-10 2k bi.

I've been playing in Auckland (biggest casino in New Zealand by far) the last 5 nights and there has been a 5/5 $500 max buyin game every night, usually one table. I have only seen the 5/10 $2000 max buyin game going once.

I find in Sydney, weeknights generally have:

1 5/10 500-2000
2 2/5 200-500
maybe 5-6 1/2 80-200

Weekends would be better.

Anyone have an opinion on the competition at the 5/10 table?

^ As you said, will always be better games on weekends. (And wednesday nights)

Regs aren't great but aren't exactly going to spew thousands as it's mostly a core group. Still pretty difficult to lose though. gl.

Often more profitable to play 5/5, especially as some of the rich fish really spew around at 5/5 but then will tighten up a lot at 5/10.

(will be totally different for the next few weeks due to appt)
