Hey folks

I've been in Cambodia for quite some time now and run the Poker in Cambodia page. The older threads have gotten quite crowded, I've put together a clean FAQ for anyone curious about visiting, playing poker, or just enjoying life here. Happy to answer any questions!

Where to Play Poker

No-Limit Hold’em
  • Nagaworld (Phnom Penh): 1/3, 2/5, 5/10. Mostly lower-stakes action with multiple tables. (Games run 24/7, if 5/10 starts it is in the evening ~7 or 8pm)
  • 72 Poker DV Casino (Sihanoukville): 1/1, 1/2 NLH – longest-running games in SHV. (24 hour games)

Pot-Limit Omaha
  • Mingmen (Phnom Penh): 1/3, 5/5, 5/10 PLO. (Many players/staff from the old Riverking game.) The games run 2pm-8pm or so most days.

Currency: All games run in USD. Some accept USDT TRC20. Expect USD for big bills and Khmer Riel for small change.

Arrival & Visas

Airport Tip: Skip the tuktuk/taxi hustlers outside. Use Grab or Passapp to book a ride.
  • Tourist Visa: $30 - 30 days on arrival + extendable 30 more.
  • Type E Visa: $35 - 30 days + extendable for 180 or 360 days (work permit required for 360).
For extensions, visa or work permits Lucky Moto is highly recommended.

Getting Around

Tuktuks are the main way to get around. Avoid street hagglers and book through Grab or Passapp for better pricing and less hassle.

Money & ATMs
  • Exchanges: USDT is easy to swap around town.
  • ATMs: BRED Bank has the largest withdrawal limits. Conveniently located inside Aeon Mall 1.

SIM Cards

Both Smart and Metfone are good options. You can get a sim for ~$5 and then a monthly plan with like 20-30gb is $4.

Weather / Seasons

Cool/dry from Nov–Feb, hottest Apr–May, rainy season May–Oct

Things to Do
  • Phnom Penh: Royal Palace, Killing Fields, Wat Phnom, Koh Norea.
  • Siem Reap: Angkor Wat is a must.

Nightlife:
  • Girly Bars: Pontoon Club, Riverside Bars (130/136).
  • Backpackers: Mad Monkey, Club Love, 278 Street.

Where to Stay (all central near Aeon 1/Naga)
  • Budget: Bridge Club (with gym & pool), Ibis Budget Hotel
  • Mid-Range: Naga 2, The Peak
  • High-End: Sofitel, Shangri-La

Food Recommendations

Delivery: Grab (most options), FoodPanda, WowNow, Egets (best for Chinese).

Restaurants:
  • Eleven One – Cambodian fusion
  • Khema – French bakery, salads, beef Wellington
  • Villa 5 – French, ribeye
  • Hummus House – Lebanese, run by a poker player
  • Namaste – Indian
  • Mexicano – Taco Tuesday
  • Brooklyn – Best pizza and american menu
  • Elia Greek / Nik The Greek – Greek
  • Baldwin Bistro – Cozy French
  • Il Forno – Italian
  • Sushi Honda – Sushi
  • Box Office – Comfort food
  • Le Lanka – French
  • Pho Saigon – Pho
  • Romdeng – Cambodian non-profit, authentic local dishes
  • Pizza 4Ps – Fusion pizza

Safety Tips
Cambodia is generally safe but always use common sense. Watch your phone in tuk-tuks, use hotel safes, avoid riverside ATMs at night.

Beyond poker, Phnom Penh is affordable, easy to navigate, and a solid base for travel around the region.

Feel free to post questions here or PM me. I’m happy to help with poker, visas, food, or general advice for anyone planning a trip.

Hi there. I played at Riverking back in 2018. Was a fun time. I'm coming back to PP for first time since then, next weekend.

Is Mingmen just PLO or is there hold em sometimes? I think I remember riverking was 1/2 NLHE.

Anyway how do I find it? Is it the Chinese restaurant I see come up on google? If you'd rather PM please go ahead.

These days for 1/3 Hold'em Naga tends to be the best bet. There is an evening Chinese game that foreigners are welcome to play and a weekly 1/3 drinking game at Mingmen.

Edit: Looks like I'm not able to PM you, however yes it's just there on the 7th floor.

5 card PLO started to run at Naga during the border conflict. Game quality varies depending on how many local bosses you get.

There will also be a WPT JAN 21-FEB 9, 2026, and Gods of Poker March 26–April 5, 2026 coming up at Nagaworld. Gods of Poker is a new series from the former tournament direct of APT.

I'm not so familiar with what's going on in Bavet, haven't heard about it. Won Majestic announced another event right after Gods of Poker finishes here March 26-April 5, 2026 then April 6-13th for their event.

Which series would be better from a 5/6 card PLO perspective?

I see that the WPT has a few more events >4 card PLO as compared to last year so I might make a repeat trip.

I saw this listed:
4/5/6 PLO 7 HANDED

I'm assuming that means a round of 4-card, then 5, then 6, correct?

That could be an interesting option as it might attract a lot of PLO4 players who are terrible at PLO5 and PLO6.

How are the PLO5 cash games these days? I'm hoping this year these is some 2/5. Last year it seemed to be only 5/10 which is a bit too high and prices me out.

Yeah, sounds like a 4/5/6 mix.

PLO5 has been running more, but there's also more regs around for it. 5/5 5 card has been running fairly often at our place and at Naga. I expect there to be more during the WPT.

Anyone at WPT to comment about the game quality? 2-3x 5/5 5c were running last days...

I do wonder is the game safe here anymore with the constant raids/crackdown on everything...

Hi, I'm thinking about spending a few weeks in PhnomPenh in June-August and appreciate all the info you've shared. I mainly play NLH 2/5 and 5/5 (occasionally higher if the game is good).

- In your experience, are the 2/5 and 5/5 (or 5/10) games still running most days in June-August Do they start early in the afternoon or mostly in the evening

- What's the current rake and cap at those stakes (percentage and cap, and are there any extra drops)

- How's the player mix these days Are the lineups mostly locals/regs or is there still a healthy flow of recreational/tourist players

Any insight would be really helpful for planning. Thanks in advance!
