Hi - I never had any problems travelling in or out of Argentina. Airbnb works fine here and Palermo is the most modern/posh neigbourhood. Let me know if you want a tour of the city when you get here and Ill take a day off from pokering

Nobody has ever checked my proof of onward travel. YMMV. Ferry ticket would be fine.
Plane ticket and airbnb booked. Arriving next week.

Seacat seemed to have the most reasonable ferry prices if someone is just looking to buy a throwaway ticket for onward journey proof. And I actually ended up just booking a return plane ticket because it was cheaper than booking a single.

+1 we are 2 canadians living in palermo (recoleta) who are super down to watch superbowl in english

About internet i dont think theres something you can do other than moving from place to place until you find the perfect internet connection, from my short experience its mostly wifi that sucks here, maybe if you plug a ethernet cable directly ure gonna be fine

In most apartments you'll be in range of dozens of wifi networks... there will usually be at least one that's unsecured that you can use as your emergency backup (although if they have the same provider, their internet might go out at the same time as yours). Or if you live above a café or restaurant, go order a coffee and ask for their wifi password.

I've lived in many different apartments and never really had major problems with the internet in any of them.

for the internet responses... Noone has bought a usb stick as a backup or nyhting along those lines? soahs live dangerously approach of hoping someone has an unsecured wifi available is far to wild for me, as i tried it the first day and i couldnt find one!! jajaja

brian saslavchik the Argentine Kevmath recommended to try a 3gb wifi modem that i should be able to find at a Claro. has any1 tried this method out?

Superbowl!! Tnoyes and I were in Sugar few nights back and it was confirmed from a sexi lil bartender that the game will be on in English!!! But like he said we gotta get there early cuz its pose to be full of locals who love watching the NFL! loll

Was told to get there at 4pm ish to guarantee a spot... Lets do a headcount, nd Ill try to get a table for all of us! Tnoyes and I are gonna get the party started early unless I decide to register the TCOOP Main last second!

Hey,

Are you still looking for an apartment in Buenos Aires? I am planning to be there from the end of this month to end of April and it would be nice to share an apartment with a fellow grinder. If you are interested, please send me a PM (I can't PM you).

I'm looking for roommates for this poker house in very good location of Buenos Aires: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/92...lable-1508034/

My time period is 1st May - 1st November (You can stay 6 months or as short as 1 month).

I got lots of messages but only "maybe"-people so far. Looking for people who defenitely want to go, especially from 1st May I need to find roommates.

The thread that I linked needs an edit; it's $700 for the big bedroom or $500 for the single bedroom. All bills, weekly maid, internet, everything included.

Can you pay in ARS when booking by Airbnb? Is it blue or official rate?

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/95

its not listed there so i guess the answer is no. even though it will allow you to browse in ARS showing the official rate, no chance in hell that gets through if you try to pay

PM sent snake

Looking for some advice on internet. My priority is speed. I don't play much poker but stream a lot of sports and TV shows. So I don't mind the odd disconnection as long as the speed is good.

Looked at Claro who claim to have 50mb Fiber Optic, any one have any experience using Claro?

Thanks man, PM received.

I cant help with the internet im afraid. I have a basic fibertel cable internet that is 6mb I think. Had no down time so far and it works fine for streaming things. Torrents download at a max of about 0.7 meg so its not quick but very usable.

Ill ask about for the claro and if I hear anything I'll let you know

Hey guys I live Puerto Madero like 5 months a year, and tbh its pretty weird that it hasnt been named as a good place to live itt. It is expensive but its the most secure place in the city by far, plus I like the fact that it is a little quieter than most places but its only a 5' walk from the Microcentro. For those who like modern-urban kinda places and have an extra buck to spend, it might be worth it to check it out.
Thought it would be nice to just name it and if anybody has any questions about the neighborhood just let me know!

i mean, i assume the majority of people go to Palermo or Recoleta, and you can walk pretty much anywhere those places by yourself in the middle of the night without worry, so i don't see safety as being a big issue.

i think 5-min walk from microcentro is a legitimate perk. even though imo subte/taxi/colectivo are all easy/cheap/quick ways to get from most parts of the city to microcentro, i can see the appeal of being 5 mins away for sure.

i dunno...for me, palermo (Las Canitas specifically) was the nuts. also quiet yet close to great nightlife and a ton of great restaurants...i think a lot of people would find puerto madero nice but overpriced, but i guess it depends on what you're looking for.
